Very tasty. Shaggy Dog and Volcano rolls plus a large bowl of ramen. Fast friendly service. Not very crowded. Good happy hour prices.

My favorite sushi place in the area. I stop here for lunch regularly. David is my favorite sushi chef and a friendly owner.

The ambiance was super cool. Fairly clean and tidy. The service was friendly, pretty casual paced. There is a sign that says they're short staffed but with only three tables it was pretty slow. ALL of my food came out at once. I just couldn't get into it. Everything was bland and flavorless. Didn't eat my salad. I just kept eating the ramen hoping it would improve. May return and try something else. Meal was $33.78 plus tip.

I am so happy I was able to try this little gem before leaving the Cypress area!!! Everything from the warm greetings to the cute decor made the ambiance great. My husband and I took advantage of the HH menu (3-630 pm Mon- Sat??). I really enjoyed the Hot girl roll, the crazy tuna roll (fav roll), calamari, edamame, house salads, and a variety of sushi pieces. My absolute fav was the WHITE TUNA!!!!! It melted in my mouth so we ordered like 5 pieces hahaha. All of this food came out to be $67. Not bad at all! I hope to be able to visit this place again!!! The food and service were amazing!

Food is great! Price is great! David is the greatest sushi chef in Cypress. Can't give this place a high enough recommendation!

Best sushi in the area. I only wish is that they were open 7 days a week! Food is fresh and beautifully presented.

Ordered sushi from Gina Japanese last night. Called for take out and dinner was ready in about 15 minutes. Employees and guests are required to wear masks and they are not serving customers at their sushi bar. There are a couple of seats outside, which would be nice with a byob bottle of saki when the temperatures in Houston start to cool off. Dinner was packed beautifully and was delicious. I ordered the Trio Sushi Dinner. Three pieces of tuna, salmon and yellowtail sushi and a spicy tuna roll served with miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. And I ordered the Gyoza, pan fried pork dumplings. My husband and I shared the take out and found it was more than enough for the two of us. Next time I want to try the house special rolls.

Visit was November 16, 2020 for dinner. They offer dine in and there's parking available but no full bar but you can bring your own bottle and they provide cups/glasses. The sushi is of average quality and reasonable priced. The staff does provide good effort to have a good dining experience. Due to COVID-19 everything is limited but that's obviously not their fault.

    Don't you feel special?

I brought my Ma and Gramps out for lunch. Since he's moved down here, I've been taking him out to different places to try new foods and whatnot. He wasn't sure if he was about the sushi or not, so we gave it a shot. None of us had been to this joint before, so it was nice for everyone to try something new. Of course I order far more than I need to, and ate all of it. I go the gym so I can eat. It is known. Started with Edamame which is always a solid. Gramps was about it. We also ordered the Calamari. Normally I'm not a fan of the large rings, but this was really cooked well, and I enjoyed. Ma and gramps did as well. Appetizers = Great. For the main eats, Gramps got the chicken Katsu dinner portion, and my Ma and I stuck with the Sushi. I get my manners, and the bottomless pit of a stomach from my gramps. He of course kept eating our food, and ended up bring his own home in a box. He now likes sushi. We ordered the King Crab Role, very good. Shrimp tempura, fresh mango topped with spicy king crab & tobiko. Normally I don't do shrimp or crab, but I wanted to get something gramps might enjoy if he wasn't about the raw fish. That man treated it like finger food and just kept scooping them up. Lover Roll was very good, Tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado & asparagus with soy paper. Marina Bay Roll was probably my favorite. Tuna, salmon, mango inside, topped with spicy salmon & sliced avocado. All of us enjoyed it. I had a spider handroll on the side for myself, it was on-point. The food was fantastic. Ya'll know I'm about the service, and I think service here was above par. Henry was everywhere. He had the menu knowledge, he made sure everyone had what they needed, and frequently stopped by to check. Great attitude great service. Only two items of contention. The price was a bit high $17 a roll for crab and shrimp is a bit steep. Price is what took the last star. There is competition that is cheaper around that area. Other item is that the tea cups don't have handles. That's not abnormal or a problem for me. However, rolling with the old man, he had to use a towel to pick up the cup because it was a bit too hot for him to handle. This is one of those things that I never would have thought of without having been there to experience it. Worth having a small set with handles for those that need it, I think. Great place, need to come back for lunch or happy hour.

I expected all Shoguns to be similar, so I was surprised that the service here was so shit. I had to wait over 20 minutes for the waiter to come back to my table. Had to alert the busser to ask for the waiter to take my order. I ordered the bento, and my dad ordered chicken teppanyaki. Usually comes with vegetables, but his food had no vegetables. And then, when my bento came out, the rice was hard, the salmon was barely seasoned, and was very small. No ginger or wasabi for my sushi, so I waited another 10 minutes to catch the waiter's eye to ask for it. Most mediocre experience I've ever had with shogun. Will not be coming back to this location.

We were excited to come here for her birthday, as the last time we were here the experience was wonderful. This time not so much. For starters, she ordered the Agedashi tofu and stated multiple times she did not want fish flakes on it. There was confusion as the menu provided to us does not state that there is fish flakes on the dish. Upon receiving the appetizer, she immediately stated that it was incorrect and had asked there be no fish flakes. The person who brought it to us, I assume was the manager, said nothing, he looked at it and turned around and took it back to the kitchen. Albeit he seemed annoyed to do so. We also ordered the pork gyoza which came out perfect. The server did apologize and we all acknowledged the confusion about the fish flakes, as they are not listed in the physical menu. We then proceeded to order the full size teriyaki steak bento box to share. Which comes with either fried or steamed rice, two egg rolls, two carb puffs, the teriyaki steak, four pieces of a California roll, choice of soup and some orange slices. Which I read to the server. We state to our server that we want steamed rice, miso soup and that we are sharing the bento box, as there was confusion if we were getting two full orders. I then say that I would like to add a side of spicy mayo, eel sauce and the crunch flakes so that I can add them to the four pieces of the California roll in the bento box. There was a back and forth between my friend and myself and the server, which the conversation ended with what I believed was a clear understanding that I wanted these sauces to add to the roll that came with the bento box. In turn what happened was the miso soup was brought out followed by the bento box. There were no sauces to go with the roll. I looked at the box and said that the sauces we had asked for were not there, to which our server stated that the California roll was at the sushi bar. At this point my friend and I were both confused as we did not order an additional California roll. The server then seemed to kind of push it on to us as it was already "made and ready". But again we never ordered this. So we denied receiving it. Our server then takes the bento box from the table back to the kitchen and goes and speaks to the same man, we presumed was the manager. He looked at our table, continued speaking with the server and never spoke to us directly. Our server brings back our bento box, with now four new pieces of the california roll, but does not bring the sauces that were initially asked for, and begins to tell me that the california roll does not come with those said sauces on it or crunch flakes. At this point I did show frustration and state to the server that I was aware those things did not come on the roll, which is why I ordered them as an extra side. Our server states the sauces were an upcharge and I said that was fine, I was more than okay with paying an additional charge. We finally get the sauces we wanted for our roll, the server apologizes again and lets me know we were not charged for the two sauces due to the confusion. We say thank you and overall enjoy our meal. My friend and I also both had one glass of peach wine each. When our server came back to check on us, my friend and I both stated, we wanted to order one glass of wine that we would split. When the server came back with two refill pours, we both were over the experience. We knew immediately we would be charged for two refills, even though we ordered one to split, which we would have been fine splitting ourselves. We just accepted that our order was messed up again. We lastly ordered the banana split pie, which nowhere on the menu card (as it is on the table in the standing display) states that there are nuts. It was when we received it that we learned there are nuts, and unfortunately I have a nut sensitivity and my mouth did start to itch and burn. At the end of the day the overall experience was not the best. I feel our server may have been new and ill prepared. But managent not talking to us, and having what seemed to be annoyance for us sending back an incorrectly prepared dish. As well as their physical menus not accurately stating what is in a dish, just overall made this a crappy experience. Which is disappointing as our first time there, was a complete 180 of this experience. The food quality was great and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. I enjoy their food but probably will not eat there again anytime soon.

Unfortunately when everyone arrived and it came time to eat, the service was extremely slow. We had guest waiting forever up to an hour for food and we all chose to get all you could eat. I was not very impressed with how long the wait times were and how unfriendly management/ownership was.
