Unless you've never eaten Japanese food, this is one of the most lacking restaurants I've ever eaten at. There's so much going well, but ultimately the food flavor fails at every angle to shatter the entire experience. This has quickly become my absolute favorite place to eat dinner. We came here for the first time on Saturday and ended up back for more 2 days later. The sushi is amazing and the bar offers quality entertainment and occasionally complimentary sake and wine. Easily in the top 2 sushi restaurants since I've moved to Texas a year ago. I highly recommend seating at the bar if you want to have a couple of laughs to go with your dinner. It is interesting that, just a couple of days, I finally uploaded my old draft review of Ginza... and then, last night, I visited again- and to my big surprise: the personnel is completely different. Brand new faces... The restaurant's lighting was dimmed differently. This place used to be quiet- whereas now they were "pumping" some loud dance pop music that didn't fit at all within the theme of a Japanese restaurant. The green tea uses to be delicious but last night it tasted all swampy. I did order some rolls as I was hungry. The fish didn't taste fresh, quantity was reduced, and the rice wasn't good anymore. We asked for our usual nigiri sushi and they were out of everything! We asked where the owner went, and his wife, and the previous chef. The answer was unclear. "They went back to China". Conclusion: I guess this restaurant just changed owners and there will be an adjustment period. So visit this place with caution, at your own risk. We ordered the take out and it took less than 20 minutes from when we placed our order to when we had our food. We got two sweet potato rolls, an asparagus roll and two orders of the veggie dumplings. My wife and I have never been so stuffed and happy with any other local vegetarian options as we have with Ginza. The owners very generously added two very big sweet potato hand rolls on the side and it was incredibly well made and tasted wonderful! Came with hubby and spent $50 :/ all we ordered was 4 dishes so that seemed very pricey. The interior was however nice and well lit and bright inside. Staff was also nice Shu mai 4/5- they had an option of steamed or fried. The hibachi flavors are exactly what we look for. The ginger dressing was so light and fresh that my ginger -hating husband asked for more for his salad. My sister was craving sushi and she suggested this new spot since a friend had mentioned it to her. We started with gyoza and edamame. The gyoza comes in 6 pieces per order and I really liked the wonton paper wasn't to thick and dense. It tasted very light. The river toll doesn't have any rice or seaweed and is raw tuna with avocado on top. Tasty if you like spicy tuna! I ordered the tropical eel which is a fried eel roll. It was a little too crispy for me liking. (similar to pork rinds). I probably wouldn't get this again. I thought it would have a more tropical taste with the hint of mango but it didn't blend well. The spicy King crab handroll had thick pieces of king crab rolled with crunchy flakes and avocado. I give this handroll two thumbs up. It's a must try! We also tried the inari which was sweet and light. It wasn't very crowded during holiday but I must say the staff was very friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a delightful meal. YUM! I happened to stop by for some lunch noms one day when the owner was behind the sushi bar. My uni and spicy chopped scallop sushi were piled high; the owner says he got a good price on uni, and passes on the spoils. YEAH!! I can't get uni close to home, so this was a double delight. The spicy chopped scallop has added crunch, which I gotta say, was WONDERFUL, but I'd caution that it's really best eaten there. The crunch gets soggy if you have to-go, or delivery. They fry the soft shell crab in panko a little too crisp for my taste, but when is soft shell crab ever bad?! I do find it odd that the spider roll is lettuce instead of cucumber with the ss crab. Not bad, but it definitely felt like it was missing something. Tried the Ginza roll, didn't amaze me. Then I had some sweet shrimp (ama ebi) sushi. Yumyumyumyum. Lunch cost over $100. Yes, I ordered premium items, food was delicious, and service was attentive. Hence the four stars. But compared to similar quality establishments closer to town, Ginza is pricier by about 10-20%. Seeing as it's the closest place to my work, and delivers, I'll probably continue eating their food. There is a lunch special option, but delivery minimum is $35, and after tax, delivery fee, + tip, it will be quite close to $50. read more

The wife and I really like this place! Best sushi in the area. The staff is incredibly nice and the food is fresh and well made. My only knock on the place is the inside is very small if you are dining in so tables fill fast and there may be a wait. The canned soda was somehow flat. Dinosaur roll had avocado, soft shell crab, and eel. The bento box was preceded by complimentary miso soup and house salad, and had shrimp tempura with veggies, a whole california roll (8 pcs), shu mai (fish balls), and white rice (fried rice is $1 extra). Kampai! This place was great! We came for the ramen, but their extensive sushi menu isn't one to scoff at. I tried the mackerel, and it was sublime. Great taste, freshness, and even the color was vibrant. The tonkotsu ramen was pretty good, a little bland, but the bottom of the bowl was still there at the end of the meal. The spicy miso one was exquisite, however and the only thing that topped that was the amazing service. Henry was awesome, and I'll definitely be back. After visiting 5 sushi restaurants in a span of 2 weeks, I discovered Ginza in the northwestern section of Houston in an area called Cypress. And I fell in love. Super hard. Like 'more than once a week' hard. Like 'they know me by first name' hard. And it all started with eating their salmon, sashimi-style. After that, I knew this place was the real deal. Not to be mistaken with Ginza in Houston proper, here are a few more reasons why they are one of the best sushi restaurants: - Hospitality makes them stand out from the crowd. They treat you like a regular, even for the very 1st time. - Their fish supplier is the same as Uchi (currently 4.5 stars on Yelp) - Chef David is top-notch. He truly is a master at his craft (though he'll never admit it.) - Some of the unique sauces and ingredients are actually imported straight from Japan. Depending on your comfort level on eating raw sushi, here are my recommendations from easiest to hardest: - Spicy Miso Ramen (hearty and mildly spicy, no fish) - Dinosaur Roll (Soft shell crab tempura topped with eel avocado & eel sauce) - Takoyaki (similar to calamari but rolled up in a ball) - Sashimi Deluxe (or any of the Sashimi options) read more

I called right back after my husband and I figured out what we wanted and the new guy said $45. So I explained that I had just called and the first guy said $40. All he said was sorry and didnt even try to rectify the situation. Smh. Never again Wanted to give this place a try because of the awesome reviews however, after we tried to order one of their specials we were told it was dine-in only!
