This place took us in as a party of 8. And though they couldn't seat us together, they did what they could to keep the experience as one. The server explained our options to both tables so we could make our best choice. This was not an AYCE place, but with what we ordered which was a special for 6-7 people, we ate everything and was so full that it could very well have been an AYCE place. We happened to be super hungry after some karaoke and randomly saw this small restaurant. The food was soooo good. They were closing so we tried to order fast. We got the Korean rice, brisket to grill, and oxtail soup. Everything was REALLY good. I mean it's not a ACE (all you can eat) meat most are use to. This place was hidden down an alley or if from another direction from a small side steer. If your coming down the alley walk past the sign that say Velvet Video. The door will be in the right. You'll walk out of the alley with several food trucks. I live here and I know where to eat Korean food outside of Waikiki. We felt like walking to dinner and my mom wanted to try the place. So we walked over and it was fun searching for this place. We were the first guests so we had the Kalbi and spicy calamari and the bulgogi. You can tell it's cater to tourist since the grill veggies were red and yellow bell peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. It was good but not like real deal Korean restaurants outside of Waikiki. Please keep in mind I haven't tried other Waikiki Korean restaurants but this one it was good but not amazing. Last night in Honolulu and craving for Korean bbq. This place popped up on Yelp. It was our second choice as our first choice didn't have any reservations. I had misread the map and took a wrong turn, little that I know this place was in a alley way and went unnoticed. Eventually track back we found it. A shack a cross the street from a parking lot. It has a rather large sized and confusing menu. The wait person was quick to point 2 person combo set. With hindsight, it would have been a better value where you can select multiple meat (raw meat for bbq at the table) and stew-soup than the two individual meat dishes. We end up ordering marinated short rib and scallops, thinking that we weren't hungry. The portions were fair. Included with our meal were a salad and three banchan dishes (Kim Chee cabbage, radish, seaweed and garlic cloves). They had refilled those dishes on request. Somewhere along the way, we wanted more, so a third meat, marinated prime rib beef was ordered. The marinated meat was right on ie it wasn't overly salty. The last meat, we were looking for was a beef bigoggi type meat which the wait person didn't understood our request. In either case, all turned out. The meal was enjoyable. This is such a hidden gem. There are two ways to get to it one is through a narrow alley to get to the back and the front also through a small street. But when you find it. It's worth it. It's a small little restaurant that's a great place for a quick and yummy Korean food! We got the marinated Short Ribs where you can cook it right in front of you or have the option on having them cook it for you in the back and cut it too. The meat is tender, and comes out perfectly cooked. It's savory and juicy and the asparagus and mushrooms were cooked tender but not limp and over cooked. It was perfectly well done. We also got the cold noodles. And on a hot day that we had it was worth it. Chilled with a nice savory umami broth. Add in the hot mustard and vinegar and it's perfection with a spicy tang flavor added to the broth. The buckwheat noodles are tender but have a bite to it so we'll done on al dente. Highly recommend. It may not be a first date kinda place, but a great quick sit down in between shopping and walking around the city. read more

Were looking to eat a light meal but were in no mood to cook or wait in line at a restaurant for 1+ hour. Happened upon Ginza Won and thought we'd take a look. They had a table open, so we decided to give it a try. Paul greeted us, showed us to our table, and appeared to be the only waitstaff. He was busy, but made effort to ensure he checked on each table. The combo dinner was recommended so that we could sample different dishes; however, we weren't that hungry. So, we decided on the fresh green onion salad, tofu soup and stone pot bibimbap with raw beef. Ice waters were brought to us and small dishes of cabbage, kimchi, and seaweed to whet our appetites as we waited for our dishes. Our dishes took awhile to arrive, but when they were ready they all arrived together and they were all delicious! The salad tasted fresh and the dressing was not too overpowering and good. The tofu soup was flavorful and full of tofu. And the bibimbap was also good. Clearly a family run restaurant and a hidden gem. We'll surely return to sample their other menu items. read more

This was one of the worst experiences we had on our vacation in Waikiki. Perhaps it was the understaffed waiting experience, or the dry and overcooked $80 wagyu, or the gnats flying around the kimchi tub in the kitchen. We craved Korean barbecue for dinner and were expecting a normal kbbq experience where we can grill our own food and drink soju. That was not the experience here. We ordered the honeymoon special and received a over-done wagyu steak with asparagus and bell peppers. They told us it would be a 5-10 minute wait, which turned out to be a 1-hour wait. I must be feeling adventurous when I decided to venture to Ginzawon with my traveling buddy in Honolulu. I guess I should have listened to Diana Y.'s advice and stayed away from this place. But my traveling buddy was craving KBBQ, so I figure... Why not... It's a hole in the wall down a dirty alley. I might as well give it a try. Yes, we were lured into Ginzawon for their $23.99 special. We figured... $23.99 for 9 items, not bad. But the sad truth is: They only give you 2 pieces of each item listed. Perhaps I am spoiled by the great Korean restaurant in California, but for the price they were charging (even after discount), it was ridiculously expensive. Waiters assumed that I was Japanese as soon as I walked into their store, I had to ask for English menu several times, but still couldn't figure out what was on the special. I tried asking my waiter what's the difference between the specials and he had the hardest time explaining it to me. Bleh. Take my advice. If you feel like getting BBQ, go hit Gyu-Kaku across the street during their happy hour. Had the most unpleasant experience here with the manager, Paul. We had just gotten to the restaurant, placed our name on the waiting list. My daughter had to use the bathroom so I asked where the bathroom was and Paul rudely yelled "no bathroom, no bathroom here". What??? What restaurant doesn't have a bathroom? We were clearly there as their customer and he just shut me down so rudely, I was speechless!!! Terrible place, don't get the preset combos. Ordered the $185 combo that comes with 3 meats and two sides. Ordering individually would've only of costed $118 which was kinda odd. Combo didn't seem to come with anything. Upon looking at the bill which came out to be $250 there's a 15% or 17% tip that they included which was also odd for not displaying anywhere to be seen for a table of 5. $50 a person that's not even Ayce and only have three meat options.
