I was in Waikiki for a week, and Me's BBQ became one of my fave spots in the area! It's family-owned and apparently one of the OGs in the area. They were about a block away from my hotel, so they weren't too far. They weren't too full with dine-in customers, but they had quite of customers picking up mobile orders or takeaways. You don't actually wait too long for your food, though. I believe it is a husband and wife running the restaurant, and they were very kind (especially since I had taken quite a bit of time to order- they were so patient!). I ordered fried squid with rice, cucumbers, bean sprouts and macaroni salad. I asked to double the cucumbers or the macaroni and the lady was very generous. The portions are insanely generous, and I ended up having a lot of leftovers for the next day! It was honestly so delicious, you'd want to keep coming back for more! Kalbi BBQ is great overall if you're looking for tender, flavorful meat, the kalbi really stands out. The beef is just okay, but the chicken wings were disappointing. They tasted dry, almost like they were fried ahead of time and then refried when ordered. The side dishes are decent, but honestly, it makes more sense to just order the meats. First time back since they moved, but ate at the original location for years. Kalbi was amazing, better than I remember. Lots of meat, great marinade. Sides were good, rice was well cooked. Same great food as always. The old building always felt a little dirty, and the seating was kinda gross. The new location in the Pacific Monarch is clean, comfortable, and has nice indoor and outdoor seating. Service is more user-friendly than it used to be, with easy-to-read menus. Ten years ago, the slightly-dirty, cash-only, confusing menu, and blunt service were part of Me's charm. But the food was always the important thing. I have not and will go to the fake Me's currently in the pink building (nor will I go to the Blue Ocean food truck owned by the same owner - because their outdoor speaker is obnoxious). I'm glad the original Me's stars in the neighborhood, found a nicer location, and most importantly kept their food the same. read more

This is my first time back since they moved! It's been a while but I'm so happy they're back. I picked up a couple plates for the beach and ordered their #1 kalbi and 17 combo beef/chicken. The kalbi was amazing! I would definitely recommend. The Beef and chicken was great for the kids. We ordered it with japchae, mac, and veggies. You can pick up to 4 sides for your plates and can double up as well. They had a lot of space to sit down inside. The service was fast, quick and very polite. Came here on my last day in Waikiki based on recommendation from the hotel clerk. Went with the kalbi served with those cold behind sides. Meat...hot and delicious. Sides - well I read the warning on the reviews but it was still surprising. Service lacks a bit, dude wasn't friendly. Not mean but in the mindset that's outside of service industry. We came here pretty late - just wanting to find something to eat. We noticed it was kinda odd to have another location with a similar name down the street, but upon a light yelp search it looks like they're feuding restaurants. I believe that this one is the original location which honestly, you could tell because the restaurant here was much nicer and felt more authentic. We came in within ten minutes of closing time and weren't expecting to be served but the servers took our order anyway. They were super nice for doing so. Kbbq in Hawaii typically means like a plate of korean bbq with meat, rice, and sides - usually kbbq around me means going to the ayce grill spots. We got a Galbi & Bulgogi combo and it was soo good! The Galbi was well cooked with a nice char - although noticeably a bit sweeter than what I'm used to. We also got five sides - fishcake, beansprouts, cucumber kimchi, kimchi, and mac salad. 11/07/25 Friday Working in Waikiki. I've been in and around the area and stopped into this location on the middle portion of - or about Ulunui Ave. and its next door to the Maguro Bros. Poke stop. in the pink building. I stopped in at about 7:15am on the 11/08 2025. and Lisa Marie was at the front ready to assist me. I ordered the bento breakfast with Beef sausage. there were two choices with the Bento. it was either Beef or Turkey I choose beef. I also had a choice of how I wanted my eggs and I asked for Fried over easy. and I stayed with white rice cause I was that hungry. It was a short wait and it was done very quickly. I manage to have ketchup, Tabasco sauce and soy sauce condiments. there isn't any issue with taking too much condiments they were pretty generous with them. Lisa Marie was so awesome as a worker there chatting with me while I waited for my breakfast. The only reason why I gave them 4stars is there is no option to do 4.5 stars and the reason for the 4.5 stars is cause I wish were more beef sausage pieces in my breakfast and that the egg was more cooked but I did ask for fried easy over and i did get the "bento" option being its the cheaper in the offering of entrees. Called ahead to order & placed an order 30 mins before closing. We ordered 2 plates of kalbi, 1 chicken katsu plate & 1 meat jun bowl which came out to around $94...WOW. The kalbi came with a good amount of meat & lots of rice. The plates come with 5 sides but I guess since it was close to closing, they didn't have many sides to choose from. They had Mac, kimchi, bean sprouts & broccoli & carrots left. Not much to choose from so we went with the kimchi, broccoli & carrots & Mac. The sides were EH. I did enjoy the kimchi but the others I couldn't care less for. Katsu was nice & crunchy & came with a good amount of meat. The meat jun bowl came with mostly rice & a few slices of meat jun. I did enjoy the meat Jun, but they didn't give many pieces to enjoy...so if you like it, maybe order the plate & you'll get more meat. read more

The place is across waikiki beach and it is the new location.. Was craving a plate lunch with Galbi and Meat Jun and the reviews here were awesome. Its a small place that offers Korean BBQ style plate lunches. The sides are displayed by the cash register and a glass window protects the items. The side options that were displayed were : Bean sprouts, Kimchi, Sweet savory roasted potatoes, Mac Salad, Cole slaw, Spicy cucumbers, Veg medley, Corn from what I recall. They have Combo Plates and Plates that are 1 protein of choice such as BBQ Chicken, Galbi, Meat Jun, Fish Jun etc. Customer service here is ok - They accommodate requests. 1st order was Galbi / Meat Jun combo with white rice, Double Mac Salad, Bean Sprouts. They give you a good portion for the price of $25-26 plus tax. You get about 5-6 pcs of cut up galbi which is 2 slabs of Galbi Ribs uncut and about 5-6 pcs sliced of Meat Jun. The sides are a good portion maybe a med ice cream scoop filled of each serving of the sides. The Taste: DELICIOUS!!! I had high expectations on Hawaii Lunch plates because its HAWAII it is known for lunch plates. The seasoned Galbi was perfect and the meat was tender cooked perfectly. Not too greasy pcs of meats. The Galbi here is quite delicious. It really had a great UMAMI taste. The Meat Jun - This was also DELICIOUS. They seasoned the beef well before they place the batter. Some don't seasoned the meat at all. Tender beef slices and right amount of batter to coat the beef. This is a delicious MEAT JUN! The Mac Salad was also ONO. It tasted like the hawaiian authentic Mac Salad. Right amount of mayo and bits of carrot sprinkles throughout. It also had the UMAMI taste that I was expecting from a Mac Salad. The Bean Sprouts - This was ok it was good but the Mac Salad was the strong side for me. I would def order this again as a side because I love this dish for my options of Banchan. You can taste the slight sesame oil - I think it needed more msg or broth to balance the taste overall. 2nd time around - Ordered just the Galbi Plate. and just Mac salad and the white rice. They place more Galbi rib pcs for this plate. Same delicious and umami taste on this Galbi plate. The Galbi here is the most POPULAR plate to order. I was perusing Yelp to see what to grab for dinner when I see Me BBQ is back?! I had to go. I've had them a few times years ago at their original location, and was bummed to see they had closed down. The new location is across the street from the old location. Don't mistake the restaurant at the original location for them. You have 2 restaurants with the same name right across from each other, but they're not affiliated in any way. Go to the new location instead! New location is nice and clean. Was greeted and placed an order for the Na's Special and the Bibim-Guksu because my wife was tired of eating so much rice this trip (poke, tonkatsu curry, musubi, etc). Food didn't take long to come out, and the service was super friendly and prompt. Food itself was great, with the almost as large portions as I remembered. The BBQ chicken was tender and full of flavor. The BBQ beef was good, but a bit on the tougher side. Fish Jun was good, and all the sides were picked were delicious. My wife really enjoyed the Bibim-guksu. It was a touch too spicy for her, but that didn't stop her from devouring the entire bowl. It was delicious and refreshing. Great for a hot day. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. The quality of the chicken felt low. It lacked tenderness and didn't have much depth of flavor. I hate to say it, but even L&L Hawaiian Barbecue has better quality and more flavorful chicken, which says a lot considering the price point here. That said, the side dishes were actually the highlight of the meal. The mac salad was creamy and well seasoned, the broccoli was fresh, the japchae had nice texture and balance, and the kimchi brought a good punch of flavor. If anything, the sides carried the plate. As I was craving some BBQ from somewhere local to my stay, I decided to come here. Fortunately it was walking distance for me and I'm glad it was because the portions are huge.
