I'll be honest I thought about getting another pair of $250 boots because my beloved pair's sole was barely hanging on and I forgot that shoe cobblers exist. Enter my mom - she loves to come to Gioi Shoes to get a new sole added to her high heels, boots, etc. so I came with her one day to drop off my boots to get a new sole and the leather cleaned. While I'm pretty fluent in Vietnamese, I still had my mommy help me communicate with the lady at the front although I could've done it myself lol. The drop off process was pretty easy as you tell them what service you would like, they write it on a card, and then also provide the price and a timeline. To get a new sole and a cleaning, it was $40... which is actually insane to me. I picked up my new boots and they looked BANGING! Just went there again for my shoes to get redone and they are the nicest people. Not only did they recognize my shoes from like 2 years ago but were so kind enough to quickly sole it at no cost. tl;dr, non-Vietnamese customer gets YELLED AT because the owner doesn't want to take responsibility for destroying her $400 leather shoes. My mother's favorite pair of leather shoes needed some cleaning and Gioi Shoes was recommended by her co-worker. Her co-worker pays $20 to get her shoes cleaned here. My mom arrived at the shop and the owner raised their voice and said it wasn't $20, that it was $25. My mom, a very unconfrontational lady, agreed. She asked if she could pick it up later today and, again, was told there was "NO WAY!" it would be done the same day, and to pick it up Sunday. My mom said she would pick it up Monday. She called me on Monday/pick-up day, extremely distraught. She sent me a picture of her $400 Paul Green shoes, a COMPLETELY different color and SPLOTCHY. The owner stated that this was the color of the shoe, and to pay them $25 or else she couldn't get her shoes back. My mom told me there was some sort of weird wax on it that shouldn't go on a leather shoe. My mom showed the owner the picture of her shoe: that brown/tan color doesn't even exist from the shoe company, so why are they stating that's the color that was "brought in"? They blamed her for being a liar and she was shaken up because she was yelled at. The level of unprofessionalism makes me furious for my mom, who has worked in the area for over twenty years. This place is an embarrassment to the community and the owners should 1) take ownership of their mistakes 2) not charge people who don't speak Vietnamese extra and 3) NOT YELL AT CUSTOMERS(?!?!). Uncle Gioi has always taken care of my shoes. I brought my allen edmonds here for him to add the protection layer to the leather soles and once they wear out he could simple replace the layer. He has the best price in town and top notch quality and dedication to his crafts. Everyday he shows up at 8am and work on shoes without fail. His wife is the helper so sometimes you gotta double check with him to see what needed to be done. Recently I just got a bespoke pair of oxford from uncle Gioi and it was the perfect fit. Granted they aren't welted shoes but for a price of one allen edmonds you'll get 2 custom made pairs perfectly molded to the shapes of your feet. I have wide feet narrow heels so it has been hard to find a fitting shoes. I had to go EEE on AE 201 last and it was a bit too roomy. Uncle Gioi solved my problems and now I'm wearing them more than my AE shoes. read more

I was not sure where to take my boots to get worked on, luckily my friend from 3 Blossoms Cafe mentioned this place. The man that greeted me and asked me what I need done to my boots was nice. The man stated that he would have them ready on Monday. They were ready but due to my work schedule I was not able to pick them up then. When I stopped by to picked them up my shoes looked brand new.
