First I must make the distinction between stuffed pizza (Giordano's) and deep dish pizza (Gino's East, Lou Malnati's). If you don't know the difference, then you do not really know Chicago pizza. Deep dish is made with a thick, buttery (if done well) crust with loads and cheese and toppings (if desired) and topped off with sauce. Stuffed pizza starts with a thinner, less buttery crust on the bottom and top. Between it you "stuff" the cheese and toppings, and still top it off with sauce. That said, Giordano's is still one of the top 3 stuffed pizza's joints I have ever been to, and the only one that is consistently good every time. I recommend getting at least a medium, because the small and personal stuffed pizza's don't always come out well for some reason. I like all their toppings, but compared to Gino's East, their spinach is not as good. You pay double and don't get as much. All in all, if you want to experience Chicago Style stuffed pizza, Giordano's is THE place to go read more

First of all I didn't know the hours changed & closed at 10 I thought 11 I call at 9 for a delivery and from the start the worker "peki" he said his name was he was so beyond rude. He first hung up on me and I called back and just had so much attitude with me. He was yelling at me and I told him you know what forget it cancel the order.. I'm a server and it felt like I was the one dealing with the customer.. I would never talk to a customer like that he is so beyond rude and yet he's the manager!! He deserves to be fired.. Should have gone with a different location - saw a previous review that delivery service is bad...The delivery is over an hour despite being told 'within the hour.' When I called after an hour / they said should be there in 15 min...maybe they should have said just don't hold your breath. After hour and a half pizza arrived. Food was great, but service was horrible. Called in last night for delivery and the guy who answered the phone couldn't be any more rude. Trying to give him my cell number for the order was like pulling teeth. I got so far as to give him 6 digits of my number before he handed off the phone to someone more competent than he to take down my delivery info. After successfully placing an order for 2 pies with this lady, she assured me that I would have my order within the hour. An hour and a half later, I phoned Giordano's to see what the status was. Same rude guy answered and said they delivered it to the hotel desk but the person who signed for it said it wasn't their pizza after all. He said they ended up tossing it. After sorting this mess/mix-up, they said they would re-deliver. The pizzas arrived 30 minutes later, but it cost $40+ and around 2 hours of waiting. Food is great, but the staff needs a lot of help on customer service and attention to detail when delivering pizzas. Why ask for a room number if you're not going to deliver it to the room the first time around? No pizza is worth a 2-hour wait with horrible service and high prices. read more

Having ordered the thin crust pizza from other locations many times, I was expecting the same juicy, fresh and delicious pizza. What e received yesterday was a dry, tasteless and almost like a frozen thin crust pizza. I'm not a deep dish fan, but since some Chicago born & raised pals persuaded me to at least come with them to Giordano's, I put away my biases and gave it another try. I thought service was great. I should mention we were the only once in the restaurant . Our waitress rocked. Our deep dish pizza was delicious. I got full off appetizers and 1 slice. We got the fried calamari, which was decent. (It's a pizza place, set your squid standards low .) a full belly later, some leftover pizza followed me home. Still enjoyed it the next day after zapping it in the microwave. Not a bad place. My mom was coming into town, which means she must have deep dish pizza as soon as possible after stepping off the plane. I ordered the pizza on my way back from picking her up from the airport. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up the pizza, we discovered they made the mistake of preparing a thin crust pizza. Normally, I wouldn't get upset about this except that they wouldn't agree to remedy the situation! No other pizza offered, no discount, no coupons. The manager absolutely refused to deal with the problem. After way too much time haggling, they gave me $5. It was clear they thought I was making the whole thing up to get a free pizza. I was so mad, that I just left with the thin crust pizza (yuck) and poor mom had to forgo her dreams of deep dish pizza. I'm originally from Florida so when I had Giordano's for the first time (spinach deep dish) it changed the way I thought of "good pizza." The pizza here is phenomenal. It is definitely worth the 30 minute wait for the deep dish, so if you're starving, call ahead. The salad and bread are excellent as well, but make sure you don't fill up on bread before your pizza, or you will regret it. A small is enough for two people to share with no leftovers (that is, if you only get pizza), and a medium is probably enough for four. As for desserts, the tiramisu is all right, not the best I've had. If you're looking for the Chicago deep dish pizza experience, Girodano's is definitely the place to go. read more

Have been to this location many times and seen it go downhill in customer service and quality. I recently called to book a reservation for 9:30pm on a Saturday night after a soccer tournament. The hostess said that they were too busy to take my reservation for 8 people. Next I said that I would like to pre-order a deep dish, and again was told that they did not offer that option. We ended up going some place else but I managed to stop by to see just how busy they were and found the place empty. Lastly, as an Italian restaurant I find it hard to imagine that you do NOT offer Ravioli, Mostacholi and even Italian dressing. read more

I wanted a special order pizza, sorry, so I called an hour ahead of time to ask in advance, and was given the price. I called back 45 minutes later when it was time to order, and was then given a $5 higher price. Apparently they nickel and dime you for each ingredient, even when ordering a pizza that was half the standard Chicago Classic and half Super Veggie. For what you get, the prices are already incredibly high ($27 for a medium thin crust?!?!?!), but when they tack on about 5 bucks more, I don't see why I am ordering from them. The manager on duty said it was their policy, even though I was given a different price by the employee. Lost my business then and forever. There are other options out there that take care of their local customers at much more reasonable prices. read more

This is my husbands favorite deep dish pizza around! it's always so good and cheesy. We ate at the restaurant the other night (normally do take out) so for the first time we had their family size salad with our meal. the house dressing is amazing, I think i would go back just for the salad. The pizza does take awhile so I asked our waitress if you are able to call a head and order your pizza so it's ready when you arrive to my surprise she said yes but if they are busy or on a wait you might not be able too. Wow. We just placed a carryout order from here. One of the dishes, fettuccine alfredo wasn't edible. My husband called to inform them that something was off with the dish. Not to get anything free, just to let them know. It was cold and clumpy with some unflavored white sauce at the bottom. Slivers of uncooked, unmelted parmesan on top and absolutely no seasoning. Plus it had an odd flavor. The manager was a complete jerk. He kept interrupting my husband saying, well if you're late, it will be cold. He wasn't and there was a lot more to the problem than that! The manager interrupted him every time he started talking, saying "what's your point?" I've had this dish before and it was great so obviously there was an issue with the kitchen. Unacceptable way for a manager to act. My husband was polite from the start of the call and was treated like crap. We order from them quite often but they just lost a customer because of rudeness. Yuuuuuummm. Its not often I eat Giordano's pizza, but every time I eat it, I love it. The pizza is great and everyone should try it at least once when you are in Chicago. The customer service and the food were both great. No issues there. The food was made in 45 mins like they said. I'm sure if you order many toppings it will take time to bake. The pizza is fantastic. I've always been a big fan of their pizza. But their customer service on Friday nights doesn't make any sense. I have 2 kids, and often call my order in ahead, so we don't have to wait 45 minutes in the restaurant for deep dish pizza to be done. They don't take order ahead on Friday nights. Doesn't make sense, when it would get us in and out much quicker. Had to order from Lou Malnati's, which is closer to my house, instead. Too bad for you. read more

My first stuffed spinach pizza was at the original location at 63rd and Kedzie. Today, I like the extra thin crust. Glad there is one nearby. Pickup, dine in or delivery, the staff is always nice and the food quality is consistent. House salad with the fennel and the vinegarette is one of my favorites. read more

The Glen Ellyn location has been recently renovated, bringing it up to date with a contemporary look, more dining space, and a brighter interior. The stuffed pizza remains top notch. I'm partial to the spinach and cheese, though the sausage is good as well. The tomato sauce is some of the best out there, with bright, bold flavor. The pastry crust is chewy on the inside, crisp on the outside. It's knife and fork pizza at its best. Service has always been at least good, typically above average. They did lose several of the servers who has been there prior to the remodeling, so post-remodeling the service had the occasional hitch. Sometimes they can be a bit too quick in clearing dishes. It's a great place for families as well, with many large booths that make corralling the kids easier. Bathroom and dining room are clean. read more

Never again for us, thank you! What a waste of our money and dinnertime. I highly DON'T recommend this place. They used to be a favorite, but have changed in recent years--and definitely for the worse.
