For about $10, just wasn't good at all. Small amount of beef, small piece of bread which came apart (appeared to be one of those "out of the bag" Turano rolls), and the flavor of the beef was as described - not that good. Haven't been in over a year and I had a craving for lasagna. I was very disappointed with the lasagna I received at Maciano's. The lasagna was 60% cheese. Very little noodles. I remember having lasagna there before and received a nice piece of pasta, you could see the layers of lasagna noodles with sauce all around. I took my husband there last evening for his special birthday; we have been there before and it has been pleasant. Not yesterday though! There were flies and gnats all over the place in the dining room, diving into my wine and trying to land on all of our exposed food. At one point during dinner my husband had a fly crawling on his face and our waiter had insects on his head - gross! We moved to a different table in an effort to escape the bugs - the waiter let us know that the "booths seem to be worse" but things were not much better. The tab was $100, and if I wanted to be swatting insects for his birthday I would have planned a picnic for my husband in a forest preserve. The staff, including the Manager Liz, said "We are doing all we can to address the issue, but sorry it's the best we can do; we can't put traps out when people are eating!" We spent the birthday meal swatting and dodging bugs - so awful. How about saying, "We are so sorry, please comeback for drinks and an appetizer on us." But no. Because the staff, including the Manager, is so lost as to the solution, we will take our Birthday Business and all of our cravings for Italian food - elsewhere. I've been here on a few occasions mid afternoon. I had a chance to try a few dishes. The best way to describe the service, is hit or miss. Today, when we walked in, we were told we could choose a place to sit. We prefer to sit in a booth, so we looked for one. One had patrons, two were dirty, one had silverware and napkins on it, and one was open. We did not sit there because of the sun. I tried the Chicago Style Deep Dish today. It was just ok. I am used to more cheese and a sausage patty, not just a few pieces of sausage. I felt the butter crust needed more flavor. On previous visits, I have had some fabulous thin crust pizza and calzones. The highlight of our visit today (and every time) are the breadsticks! Buttery, garlicky covered in parmesan goodness! Today, our server was not as attentive as other visits. We were shocked to find melted pieces of plastic underneath the cheese on our pizza, which explained the strong chemical taste while eating. When we called the restaurant to report it, we were told "not to worry" because it was just the melted cheese bag. Instead of refunding the order, they initially offered only a $15 coupon. The next day, we received a call saying the pizza would be refunded, but we still had to pay for the rest of the order. Super disappointed to write this, as Maciano's has been our go-to for a long time. Unfortunately, our recent takeout experience was frustrating enough to lose us as loyal customers. When our order wasn't delivered, I called to find out it was never made and the person on the phone couldn't have cared less. No apology, no accountability--just a dismissive "we're busy." I completely understand things get hectic, but it's not about the mistake, it's about how it was handled. A little ownership or even a basic acknowledgment would've gone a long way. Instead, we were made to feel like we didn't matter. Sadly, that lack of care made it clear our business just isn't valued -- so we'll be taking it elsewhere. read more

Nice little restaurant in a strip mall. I had pesto pasta with chicken but forgot to get pictures. It was delicious. I went with my sister, brother in law and my granddaughter when we were visiting. My family and I went there for the first time a few nights ago and had a great time! At first, we were a little confused where we needed to go to be seated as they had a pickup counter and a sign that said "please wait to be seated" so we waited a fair 5 minutes or so with few people acknowledging us, but it all changed when Amanda came up to us and got us seated. She changed the impression we had almost immediately and only got better throughout the night. Our daughter had a kids pizza, which was enjoyed by everyone! We'll definitely be back to have pizza here as well. My partner got a calzone and I got linguine and clams. The prices were excellent and the taste of the food was delicious. Amanda continued to check in on us during the service making it easy to get refills on drinks and bread. She was personable, kind, and down to earth which isn't most waitresses. You could tell she was genuine and she really took the experience from a 8 to a 10+. We also enjoyed the mood of the dining room. This is a quaint Italian restaurant. We often go here for special occasions such as birthdays, holidays or anniversaries. The reason I mention that is we obviously love this place in order to trust it to our special occasion needs. I ordered the Baked Lasagna, this is usually wife choice, but mine on this visit. Their recipe for the sauce is extra tasty. And I do believe their cheese is homemade as I have never had cheese this good anywhere else. My wife had the chicken parmesan and of course the amount of food was so much she had to save half of it for the next day. The food here is upscale in my opinion. Its right up there with the good Italian restaurants. And if you are in the mood for just a pizza then this is also the place to go for that. As their pizza is delicious! The only negative about here is the menu has been shortened a lot over the years. Also the once full bar selection is now wine and beer only. I love the crust and every ingredient but Maciano's was a close tie. I should've ordered extra crispy crust but the sauce was superb and so was sausage. Green peppers could've been cut smaller but will not stop me from ordering again. The cannoli was great as was chocolate cake but the cinnamon sticks are addictive. I've had this pizza several times before as my apartment complex always orders it for functions. The pizza has always been good Today was the first time ordering for my self a large thin crust pizza. The outside of the pizza was burnt. It wasn't cut evenly and soggy. No flavor at all. Tastes like plain cardboard. I even tried to add crushed red peppers and cheese and it didn't help. Also when we picked it up peppers and cheese was never offered. The $30.00 pizza is in the garbage. Update The restaurant reached out and gave me a credit for some of the money spent on the pizza. We started with the bruschetta which was excellent. If they toasted the bread, it might be the best I have ever eaten. And I have had my fair share of bruschetta! We ordered a sausage and half green pepper thin crust pizza. I love their thin and crispy crust! That is my fave part of their pizza. I also ordered the chicken Vesuvio which was pretty good. Updating my review. I have not been here in over a year and I was so looking forward to the grilled chicken Caesar salad and Chicago style deep dish pizza. I know this may not sound like a big deal but they changed the Caesar salad dressing to more of a vinaigrette, ick. We ordered a deep dish pizza with pepperoni, sausage, onion, black olives and mushrooms. There were hardly any onions, black olives or mushrooms. The pizza was $32! And just ok. The first two times they didn't include parm and red pepper packets, no biggie... the third and 4th time when I asked and still didn't receive... Food arrived, no utensils (checked the box to request them), no parm no red pepper... received the most watery red sauce I have ever seen... a jar of ragu would be better... I ordered a thin crust pizza with sausage two weeks ago. When I got home and opened the box, I saw the pizza had about half the amount of cheese and sausage that it usually did. On roughly half of the pizza the topping didn't extend to the crust. There was barley any sauce on the dough and that was it. I called and explained to the woman who answered the phone what the problem was. She said I should speak with the manager, but she wasn't in yet. The woman took my name and phone number and said the manager would call when she got in. The pizza was not worth $ 32.00 . It has been a week and a half, but still no call from the manager. This has become one of our favorite go-to pizza places. Their thin-crust is always very thin and slightly chewy but with a crispy base, lots of great cheese and a nice amount of toppings. Recently we went in for my free 12" pizza, which we combined with an order of penne alla Macianoswith grilled chicken and a shared side house salad. Their sweet red wine vinaigrette is very flavorful. Their penne alla Macianos was good, but I don't think I could eat an entire order of it as it was super rich. Good for a shared amount, though, especially with pizza. Service was fast friendly and I received not only my free birthday pizza, but also a free slice of their cheesecake which was to die for. It was not overly heavy. I would definitely recommend them for a nice pizza or a great Italian food go-to. read more
