The manager, Colleen, went out of her way to be friendly all while making sure everything was what I ordered. I am very particular about how I want my pizza and it was well done, just like I ordered. My waiter, Jose, was personable and helpful without being in my space too often. I liked how the staff seemed to work together seamlessly with a smile on their faces. I always come to Giordano's when I am in town since there is no good pizza in Tampa, where I currently live. But tonight was even better than ever. Giordano's is actually a chain that specializes in Chicago deep dished pizza. It was founded in Chicago way back in 1974. When we got here; we we were told it would take at least 45 minutes for a deep dish pizza. They make everything fresh to order and hence the wait. Good things come to those who wait however and so we ended up getting a salad to start off along with a pizza. For our salad order; we got the Giordano's House Salad. this came with spring greens, baby tomatoes, shaved fennel and shaved asiago cheese. The dressing was lemon vinaigrette. The salad was simple and light. It was a good starter that wasn't too heavy and gave us room for the star of the night; the deep dish pizza. For the deep dish pizza; we got The Special. This pizza has sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions.The pizzas come in small, medium and large size. We got the medium and it was eight large slices that was perfect for three people. Wow! My first deep dish pizza experience was amazing. I absolutely loved the thick, cheesy and buterry crust. It was packed with flavor! I normally am more of a fan of the savory toppings in a pizza versus the crust but the crust here was truly the highlight. If all deep dish pizzas are like this; I'm all in. Don't get me wrong; the toppings of sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions were quite excellent too but it was the crust that really won me over. I ate two slices and I was so full! She also upcharged me for my dirty martini which we didn't see till the bill - she didn't ask me what liquor I wanted for it, so I assumed it would be bottom shelf, but she went ahead and chose a very high shelf one without even telling me. Delivery service has gotten HORRIBLE. We order every 2-3 weeks for delivery. Last month arrived cold. Couple weeks cold. Tonight cold. I saw the delivery person go to house across the street with food in hand; NOT IN THERMAL FOOD BAG. It's single digits temperatures outside and the guys walking with food not protected from elements. BLUF: food was okay, service was clumsy and uncoordinated Went with a large group on Saturday evening. We ordered several deep dish pizzas for the entire group, and a few individuals ordered some different entrees due to dietary considerations. About half of us also ordered appetizers. Some people ordered alcoholic drinks as well. The pizza was pretty good. Actually I found a kind of land without adding salt and hot pepper to it, but the toppings were pretty generous and there was plenty of cheese on the pies. But they could definitely use with a more seasoned sauce or other ingredients to add flavor to the pizza. The calamari was rubbery, the batter was very bland and unseasoned, and the dish was called by the time it came out. The bruschetta was actually very tasty, and the Caesar salads were very good as well. Greek salads were underdressed. Two of these separate entries that were ordered came out incorrect. The biggest issue we had was we ended up eating our meal almost backwards. Our appetizers arrived after almost all the pizza was gone so we ended up having our main course before appetizers. A couple of the entrees, by the time they were served correctly, came out even after that. It was overall just a very disjointed meal. I think our waitress might have been relatively new and she was definitely handling a lot of tables so that could have explained some of this. But even if the service had been Stellar I don't think I would go back again because the food just wasn't that great. There was atrocious service when we first walked in and we had to wait over 15 minutes until a hostess came to us, and when she did come she told us we were unable to be seated due to not having enough open seating as there was various open booths. I'm not sure why this spot doesn't rate higher. Yes, there are two main pizza places in Chicago: Giordano's and Lou's. They are different, but I like them both. In fact, Lou's changed hands from the original family, and our last time there wasn't the same. But this Giordano's location is solid. We got half and half-- the cheese and the special, which is sausage and veggies. Giordano's is known for their "stuffed" pizza, meaning the sauce is on top and the cheese and veggies stuffed underneath. It was tasty and filling! Service was basic, but we got what we needed. The cocktails are also basic (a fruit lemonade, margarita, Bloody Mary etc). They were also terrible and heavy and sweet, so I recommend a pass. They also have thin crust pizza, extra thin crust pizza, Italian dishes, and sandwiches, but I can't imagine anything beats the deep dish stuffed pizza. Plenty of parking. We got there at 5 PM and were seated promptly. It wasn't busy. By 6:30-7 PM it was getting pretty crowded. It seemed there was a hotel shuttle dropping off several groups of tourists. Didn't have a chance to try the food at this location, absolutely horrible/non-existent service. Upon arrival, we were told 45 minutes, despite many open tables. Took a seat at the bar to have a drink and wait for the table. After 20 minutes of not being acknowledged, let alone being greeted (despite bar personnel performing activities behind the bar!) we walked out. We went up to the counter and asked for a booth, as there were a lot of seats available, we were seated right away. The booth felt comfortable and sufficient. They had a QR code scan menu for us to check out the menu and the menu for drinks was on a menu stand holder. The waiter came over and asked for our order. Upon reviewing the delicious extensive wide variety of food items in the menu, we ordered Mozzarella Triangles from the Starters section. Then for the main course we ordered Super Veggie Deep Dish (s) pizza. The waiter said that it would take 45 min approx. for our deep dish to come out so as we were waiting for our food, we also ordered drinks. I ordered a Michigan Avenue Margarita as my drink. First, the waiter served us with the Michigan Avenue Margarita drink which was made with a combination of Tequila, Triple Sec, Agave nectar and lime juice with lemon on side and kosher salt around the glass edges. Both the drink and presentation were good. I liked my drink. Second, the Mozzarella Triangles had arrived. They were 6 crispy, golden colored Mozzarella triangles which looked appealing and were served hot. They were cheesy and went well with marinara sauce on the side. The more you eat, and you do not want to stop it. They were the BEST. Lastly, the popular dish of the night had arrived which was our Super Veggie deep dish pizza. The Pizza was thick stuffed with cheese on the side and looked delicious. There were a total of 8 slices which had mushrooms, green peppers, onions, garlic coated broccoli, spinach, and black lives. I do not remember when I had the last time, but I felt like I was eating for the first time. The Pizza was good and cheese was oozing out of it. After a couple of slices, I could not dig in anymore as I was already super full. Later, we had to ask for a To-Go box. The staff were patient and allowed us to finish even after closing time. The place seemed still busy during the weekday but still the waiter checked on us whenever she could. The price for food was on the higher side for us but as it was one time experience we had to compromise. The place looked LIT with lights, decor and eye-catching EAT PIZZA sign. They had separated out both the full bar and restaurant section. They also had a wide variety of seating types based on preference. This pizza was deep and that deep crust was filled with tons of cheese. As you lift a piece from the pie, strings of glorious cheese stretch a mile high. The pizza sauce was also delicious. The crust was ok. It was crispy, and did not have a yeasty backbone. I may be picky but found the crust a little dry for my personal taste. TIPS: - Deep dish pizzas take ~45 min to bake. I ordered several pizzas online early in the day for a 6:40 delivery for a party which was attended by several small children. The cost was over $250 dollars. I called the store to ask if they had any coupons or discounts for a big order and the man on the phone told me he was filling in, it wasn't his store, so no. I was okay with that until it was 6:50 and my pizza hadn't arrived. I called the store to check on my order and was told I should have ordered for a scheduled delivery (I did) and that the pizza was ready but there was no driver. The order would go out when one arrived. I'm 20 minutes from this location. Finally, I started to receive updates on the delivery. It arrived at 7:25 - 45 minutes late, semi warm, and no where near worth the $ I paid for it. Plus I had a house full of hungry toddlers and spent time at my party stressing about the food.
