I can't rate the food, but if it's anything like the service or should I say lack thereof then it SUCKS!!!! The white patrons were greeted and served with a smile, not the same for my husband and I . The paninis were great but they forgot the salad for one of my orders. (We ordered 7 items, can't be that hard!) The staff were too busy chatting and made us wait an extra 10 minutes even though our pick up order was sitting right there and we had to ask twice if that was ours.... Stopped here just to see what it was like. Vibes and staff are nice, cute cafe with an option to eat in or outside. Saw they have sourdough bread on the shelf for sale, was happy to see this since the sourdough bread vendor sold out at the Farmers Market. But was a bit disappointed, didn't taste as fresh as I expected especially for $14. They also had the date blacked out when it was baked...unsure why?? Might still come back though and try the food and pastries next time when I'm in the area. read more

Had a good experience the first time coming to this location, until the barista made and gave multiple matcha drinks to the woman who was in line after me. Which really pissed me off & just made me not want to go back ever! The Montrose location isn't it either, the almond croissant was overly baked! Lost my business . read more

Love the new location! Stopped by here to grab some coffee and pastries. Shant and the team were very kind and friendly in taking our order. We ordered lattes, pastries and grabbed a table outside. As we waited we admired the decor. Not long after everything came out. The coffee was so delicious and the muffins was very soft and not too sweet. One of my favorite bakeries! We got 2 lattes, pistachio cannoli, tiramisu, and turkey breast sandwich. Everything was really good! I'm personally not a cannoli fan, but it was amazing. Tiramisu was on the sweeter side for me but I would still get it again. Weirdly enough I really liked the sandwich. Didn't think something so simple would make me so happy but the bread was the right amount of crunchiness and softness. Salad was good, didn't know what dressing it was but tied the entire dish together. Lattes were large and so good! I would definitely come back and order the same! I'm excited to have a new Gio's in La Canada. Their original location is in Montrose on Ocean View. I'm trying to eat a bit healthier, so it took all my willpower not to order pastries and sandwiches. The first time I visited for their soft opening I ordered a tuna salad and matcha latte and they were both great. My friend and I went today, March 1, 2024 and I ordered a ham and cheese panini with salad and that was delicious. My friend ordered the breakfast veggie baguette and she loved that. Next time I want to try one of their crepes. There is plenty of parking. read more

This new location is SO much nicer than the previous one! I had my doubts at first since I'm not a local, but I thought the foot traffic of the old location would be better. Wrong! I popped into Geo's Cafe in La Cañada after running an errand next door and decided to try a couple of their desserts. This was just an initial visit, so I kept it light with a lemon bar and a mini pistachio cannoli. The lemon bar was bright, citrusy, and super fresh. I couldn't quite figure out if the filling leaned more custard or gelatin, but the flavor was solid. I spoke with someone who worked there named Shant, who was really friendly and eager to share that the lemon bars are made from scratch. That kind of care definitely shows in the freshness, and it helped me understand the slightly higher price point. The crust was baked well but had a bit of a bitter, flour aftertaste that didn't fully land for me, though. The mini pistachio cannoli was the highlight. I actually prefer smaller bites like this over full-sized versions. The shell was crisp, the filling was smooth, and the chopped pistachios added a perfect bit of crunch and nuttiness. For under 3 bucks, it was easily worth it. They also offer sandwiches, breads, and other items I didn't get to try yet, but the space had a good vibe and the staff was welcoming. When I am in the area, I enjoy stopping here. They have a delicious matcha latte, baked goods and tasty sandwiches. I usually get the same items, and they are always great. Just love their sandwiches. They come with a green leaf salad with a semi spicy dressing. Egg and cheese croissant sandwich is my to go for breakfast. You can add avocado to it too. We also had pastries, fruit pie, apricot turn over, and tiramisu. All very delicious and fresh. Excellent customer service too. read more

Bottom Line: Very cute, average and yet somehow still very expensive Being a parent is exhausting and it's tricky to even get away for an afternoon sometimes. Usually for my birthday I try and get away a do something for myself and this year I decided to take a day off of work and go for a motorcycle ride. Up at 4am and bundled up as it was freezing, I left Santa Barbara headed for Angeles Crest as it had been years since I had the chance to see those beautiful mountains. As I was leaving the 118, a nice hot cup of tea and a pasty were calling me. If my poor memory served, there were a few restaurants and bakeries on the strip in La Canada. I spotted Gio's and pulled into the parking lot. The staff were friendly and professional. The place is beautifully laid out and looks very nice inside. The croissants looked good! but tiny! Especially for $5. I asked for one of those and a black tea. I waited patiently behind another customer as he added things to a few different coffees. There is a very small area for this - enough for just one person. There's no honey or agave available, just packets of sweetener.... like a gas station. There was a nice spot outside, so I grabbed a chair and sat down to enjoy a cuppa. The tea was just black tea - nothing out of the ordinary. The croissant came out and I have to say, I was super underwhelmed. For a $5 croissant you would expect it to be at least average sized, but it was small. For $5 you would hope that it would be the most delicious thing you've ever tasted! I can get behind quality not quantity - I didn't want a flat of Croissants from Costco after all. This is just a birthday treat. Unfortunately the Croissant was dry/crispy (burned?) and really just not very good - mostly air. Expensive air, like that Perriair stuff from Spaceballs. It was not warm or buttery, it was just a mess. The total bill including tip was $10 or $12 I believe - for hot water and a small piece of bread without chocolate or any filling. This was a huge bummer. Getting away for even an afternoon for me only happens a few times per year and I was hoping this would be a nice birthday treat and it was like going to a gas station, just twice as much money as I wanted to spend. read more

Love this new location! It's bright and spacious and it has easy parking! Gio's salads, sandwiches and desserts are all sooooo good! They have a delicious pistachio cream Cannoli that is an absolutely treat! The staff is always super nice too. It's the perfect lunch spot in my opinion. There's nothing short of good that you can purchase from here. I've been to both locations, the one in Montrose as well, and I'm always amazed at how delicious and fresh everything is. Of course, I ate and drank whatever I ordered before taking a picture because I couldn't help it. I tried the strawberry danish and it was one of the best I've ever had. Every bite was properly balanced -- from the strawberries-- to the cheese, to the crunch. I ordered their iced vanilla latte, which comes so close to Alfred's world famous vanilla latte, for basically half the price. Wow! I stopped by to try Gio's in La Canada and they surpassed my expectations. A few friends told me to try this bakery and I was not disappointed. Their Coffee is delicious and the sandwiches were amazing. The bread was so fresh. The pastries I tried were heavenly. If you'd like a flaky, buttery, freshly baked croissant , I'd suggest going to the French bakery inside Gelsons. The staff are very friendly here, but after three visits, I'm afraid the sub par croissants don't warrant another visit. The location in montrose is worth the five stars based solely on the tiramisu and coffee read more

Well this place ISN'T Greenbergs! I enjoyed for weeks their raspberry muffins only to have their store pull it off their shelf saying I was the only customer who liked it. Next came their bacon burritos, which were delicious and popular. Then of course the store told me last week that they won't carry them anymore. A good way to lose a loyal custome, but here the preferences of the loyal customers apparently don't warrant that much consideration. As for the coffee, it is served in paper cups that quickly dissipate the heat so that by the time you finish a cup, it is ice cold. And they refuse to reheat it. No longer recommend.

Sometimes you have to espresso yourself. Reborn always hits right. I appreciate the service and Espressos.

Service was excellent. Everyone who works here is very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. They always have amazing specials, so be sure to ask about those. We have ended up ordering some of those every time we have been here. One of my favorite Italian places in all of LA. The reviews mention minimal flavor, sweetness, etc. Take a look at this place. It's minimalistic. Hence, it follows that the drinks are minimalistic. In other words you're not going to get a ton of chocolate, vanilla, sugar, etc. in your drinks. Yes: it's expensive. I paid nine dollars for an iced oat milk mocha. Ouch! However, I have a feeling that the employees are paid well, and all ingredients are of the highest quality. Again, this place is not Starbucks. If that's your cup of Joe, then stay away.
