    Spaghetti Puttanesca

This was a nice little Italian restaurant! Nestled in the sleepy part of Los Angeles at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains is Cafe Sole Trattoria Italiana. First of all, they have one of the tastiest house bread that I've ever tasted. They're practically addicting. That's when you know you're off to a good start! Add some olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and you'll be telling the waiter to keep them coming! Luckily, the rest of what we had was delicious. To my delight, for the Antipasti (appetizer) they have one my surprising finds in Rome, the Prosciutto e Melone - Cantaloupe melon and Prosciutto di Parma. The combination of cantaloupe wrapped with prosciutto ham and paired with soft cheese is as tantalizing as it is unique, and if you haven't had this Italian delight, you must try it. For our main course, my friend ordered the Spaghetti Puttanesca, and although I'm not a fan of anchovies, it is a pretty good dish with Kalamata olives, extra virgin Olive Oil, garlic, capers, and arrabbiata sauce. For myself, I ordered the Pappardelle Sole, a wide flat pasta with Italian Sausage, extra virgin Olive Oil, garlic, artichoke, and tomato sauce. It's a delicious, savory, and yet not really heavy pasta. It is nicely balanced, with no particular ingredient overpowering the others. There is a lot of other dishes that we want to try out here, so we'll definitely have to make a return visit, hopefully with some room for dessert, too.

Second time here! I asked the waiter between the two Ravioli dishes, which one I should get. He said both are great but to try the Butternut Squash Ravioli in the Sage Cream sauce. Thank you for the recommendation! That was fabulous! I could drink that sauce. (Seriously ) Looking forward to coming back to try the Spinach Ravioli in Pink sauce next!

I love the vibe of this place. The service is so warm, relaxed, and yet very professional. Great menu that feels authentic. I've brought my 4 year old daughter here for an early dinner a couple of times and they're so sweet to her and offered crayons. Our server remembered us from the first time we had visited a month or two prior to our 2nd visit- that was an impressive touch. Pizzas, caprese, fish, and spaghetti were delicious. Something about it just takes me back to dining in Rome.

After completing our tax preparation, we decided to come to Cafe Sole for a late lunch/early dinner. At 2:45, the place was empty but we knew we'd be happy with an our meal. The only waiter at that hour was pleasant and helpful. I ordered Chianti and melon with prosciutto. The appetizer was delish and satisfying. My wife ordered the chicken Marsala with pasta and I ordered the spaghetti al faro with olive oil and garlic instead of the tomato sauce. Both dishes were plated beautifully and my dish was excellent. My dish was simple spaghetti in olive oil and sliced garlic with sautéed calamari and shrimp and steamed clams. It was fantastic!!! We talked to Alexandra, the owner, about the restaurant and realized we've been dining here off and on for over ten years. We ordered desserts, my wife had the flourless chocolate cake and I had the Panna Cotta with coffee. The desserts are made by Alexandra and her husband. Both were equally delicious. As we get older, we come to appreciate the simple things in life. Now we realize that this little gem of an Italian restaurant is less than a mile from our home and is one of the best places for fine Italian cuisine locally. We won't let too much time pass before we return again for another delicious culinary delight at Cafe Sole.

Sat us immediately and we ordered all our favorites! Started with bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. We got Brushetta which had fresh garlic in it! Soo good! Then got insalata mista, a wonderful salad. We then split a margarita pizza with pepperoni in half of it. My friend got beef carpaccio and it was excellent. Lastly we got fettacini bolognese and it also was delightfully delicious! The Owner and her son are wonderful and know me from coming many times. Right by the UA regal theater in la canada. Love the atmosphere here. Can choose to sit outside under umbrellas or inside. Love this place. It's a gem!! The owners are from Naples in Italy which is known for its great pizza!

Searched for days for a good pasta place. My bestie wanted pasta for her bday lunch. What a little gem of a place! Ordered Cesar salad, fried calamari and three different pastas. All delicious! Service was wonderful. Will be returning again for delicious Italian meals!

My husband surprised me with date night here. They were packed and we didn't have a reservation but the servers made sure they still sat us in the first seat available. They were extremely nice and down to earth. We felt really comfortable. We ended up getting a calamari appetizer, the butternut squash ravioli, the shrimp pasta (I forgot the name), salad, and Nutella bread pudding for dessert ! The food was extremely fresh and the experience was the best I have had in a looong time !

This is a good family local Italian joint with good authentic food. It would be nice if there was a kids' menu but the food passed muster.

In the meantime we decided to take a look what there was around to go eat in the meantime. What caught our attention when looking online was the Bugolgi Pizza. We decided to head out there and try it out. We arrived and the shop was very clean. We were greeted with smiles on their faces. Once we sat we looked over the menu and decided what we were going to order. We ordered a Bugolgi Pizza and Korean Style Fried Chicken. ( We ate it before we thought about taking a picture lol.) The food was delicious, very good and presentable. The Bugolgi pizza toppings were the Bugolgi Beef, onions and green bell peppers. Absolutely like no other. There's no other place that we know of that has Bugolgi on pizza. The order of the Korean Style Fried Chicken (we got plain because of our daughter) . Our basket had some potato wedges, some deep fried dumplings, and the chicken. We also got some I believe radish side, ketchup and ranch. Everything in that basket stars! It was so good. We all enjoyed our meal. To top everything off. My fiancé and I were so amazed at their customer service. They pay attention to their clients, they want you to be satisfied. I played their claw machine and they hinted the best way to win a prize on it. They saw we needed an extra plate and they brought it out without asking. My fiancé was the one who was able to win a prize from the claw machine. Shortly after when, one of the employees ( I'm not sure if owner) blew up a little heart balloon and attracted it to the plushie for our daughter. After paying we headed out to the door and he went out of his way to say goodbye to us with a smile on his face as we left. We definitely will be back. Thank you Hello Pizza

It was decorated for Christmas and our son had a blast running around playing (the owners got a kick out of him, which makes this place beyond family friendly!)! We ordered potato pizza, the house pizza, a side of sweet and spicy wings, and the sweet potato cheesy bread sticks. All I can say is, we were blown away. The combination of flavors on the potato pizza is seriously incredible - that is officially my favorite pizza of all time. The flavor profiles are so unique... it's like the last truly creative pizza in LA. Our boy loved the potato pizza and cheesy bread, which made our night easier. The WINGS!!! I was pleasantly surprised that they were actually pretty spicy - great flavor and they were crispy. Everything I want in a sweet and spicy wing. If we could rate Hello Pizza higher we would. Bonus: one of the owners took down a Sonic the Hedgehog mascot head and let our boy play with it while we waited. Seriously, this is the vibe we want in a small, hometown pizza joint,

Used to be great, but new owners have led to truly terrible service…read more Unique Pizza has been our go-to spot for years. As of Dec. 2025, the husband and wife who owned the shop have sold to new owners. Unfortunately, at least so far, the new folks fall far short of the precedent set by the previous owners. I went to their website (not an app like uber eats or slice, their website uniquepizzeriamenu.com) and placed a to-go order. They have added an option for delivery, so I thought I'd give that a try. I paid a $6 delivery fee, and left a $7 tip on top of that. I got a series of notifications that they were more backed up than usual, and I could expect delivery in about an hour. No worries. I had plenty of work to keep me occupied. About 50 minutes later, someone from the shop rang me up. "Your pizza is ready," they said. I explained that I had ordered delivery. "We don't do delivery," they said. I told the guy that was weird, because I ordered from their website, where delivery was an option, and had paid a delivery fee and tip. The guy on the phone curtly told me he didn't know what to tell me, but they don't have delivery, so if I want my Pizza, I can come to the store and pick it up. I tell him OK, I'll be there in 15 minutes. So, I drove up the road (in the rain) to the store. Upon arrival, I see that the new owners have redecorated. I hate to be harsh, but they have transformed a cozy, homy pizza shop into something else entirely -- they have added a geometric textured wall, uplit by bright neon purple spotlights. The place looks like it's going for a cold nightclub aesthetic, except for the "live laugh love" style salt and pepper shakers on the tables. But, you know, I don't think they get a lot of dine-in guests, so, whatever. After waiting in line, I get up to the front. I have my receipt, and I'm hoping that maybe they can refund me my delivery charge -- if not, no worries. I give the guy my name and he looks at me like I'm an idiot. "The delivery guy already picked up your order." Of course, I'm baffled. "Are you the guy I just talked to on the phone?" I ask. He says he is. "You told me you don't have delivery." Rolling his eyes, the guy explains to me that just after we got off the phone, a delivery driver he didn't know came, and gave my name. So, he gave my Pizza to this driver. I ask if it occurred to him to maybe call me back. Before he could answer, the delivery driver called me, annoyed that he'd been knocking on my door and no-one was home to accept the delivery. Ultimately, the driver ended up leaving my pizza on the ground in front of my apartment, where it was rained on for 15 minutes as I drove home to get it it. The guy at the counter was utterly unapologetic, and acted like I was inconveniencing him because of this mix-up. I'm sure what happened was, this business is under new ownership. They have set up their website so that someone can order delivery, which, behind the scenes, is handled by the Slice app. Slice then uses Uber Eats drivers to pick up the pizza. The guy behind the counter was unaware of this, and when he saw I had ordered delivery, he didn't know what to do, so he called me and asked me to pick up the pizza. Then when the Uber Eats driver showed up, he didn't know what to do, so he just gave the guy my pizza. It's all kind of understandable, a funny growing pain of new ownership. The way it was handled, though, was really frustrating and inconsiderate. Needless to say, after being a regular customer for years, this was my last order from Unique Pizza. My advice for the new owners: - Make sure you train everyone working the register on how delivery orders work on your website. - Tell your customer service folks to be nicer. The customer isn't always right, but when something gets messed up, take ownership of the mistake and try to make it right with kindness. - The new decor, especially the uplighting, is not working and creates an uncomfortable ambiance. You may want to rethink it.
