Honeybird had been on my list for a while, and I'm glad I finally gave it a try. Overall, the food tasted fresh, wasn't overly heavy, and arrived hot. The staff was also super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The Signature Fried Chicken was served incredibly hot, which I always appreciate. It wasn't quite as crispy as it looked in photos, but I liked the light batter. The chicken was lightly seasoned, so don't expect the bold flavor of Popeyes. It also wasn't greasy, making it easy to enjoy. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes were my favorite side. They were packed with garlic flavor and absolutely delicious. I personally prefer my mashed potatoes a bit more whipped, but the taste more than made up for the texture. The Cole Slaw was fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing, while the Chipotle Macaroni Salad had perfectly cooked pasta and a nice kick from the chipotle aioli. The Chinese Chicken Salad was loaded with romaine, cabbage, crispy noodles, almonds, mandarin oranges, shell pasta, and green onions. The Asian vinaigrette was lightly dressed, just how I like it. My only complaint was that the roasted chicken was a bit dry. For dessert, the Banana Cream Pie was the perfect level of sweetness. I loved seeing the vanilla bean throughout the filling, though I would have enjoyed a little more banana. Guys this place is legit! My wife and I came and it was our first time. We grabbed a western chicken Sandwhich and a 2 piece meal. We were not ready for the way this meal was going to be. The chicken was so crispy and flavorful. And the sides were incredible. The workers were so nice and really attentive to us and we even chatted about their banana cream pie, which we grabbed a slice of. And it was an amazing experience! As an appreciator of both fried chicken and breakfast burritos, this spot was logically a natural fit. How I let this place and their amazing fried chicken breakfast burrito languish on my bookmarks list for so long is a mystery I'll never resolve. Located in a busy spot on Foothill Blvd. in La Canada, it's hard to tell at first glance if this place is a fried chicken restaurant, a coffee shop, a breakfast spot, or some combination of the three. The interior is bright, clean, and pleasant and staff and service was quick and friendly. Prices were very fair for both food and drinks, while maybe being a little steep for their fried chicken (I think it was about $50 for 8 pieces of chicken and $80 for a 16 piece), but my breakfast burrito with the fried chicken added came out to about $15, which is great considering how expensive they can be in other spots in the area. The burrito was filled with crispy hashbrowns, eggs, cheese, and the aforementioned fried chicken, along with 3 tasty sauces/salsas. At least one of the sauces was kinda spicy but I enjoyed the combination of them with the thick, satisfying, and tasty burrito that didn't skimp on fillings or flavor. Absolutely top-notch. I will be back again! Coffees ran from about 3.50 for a regular cup of coffee to about $6 for a latte, so I may try one on my next visit! read more

He ordered the fish sandwich and a fried chicken leg, his caregiver got the mac and cheese and chicken sandwich, and I went with the mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. My dad said the fish sandwich was very flavorful, but a little heavy on the sauce. The fried chicken leg? Cooked perfectly. I want to exercise to be able to burn enough calories to consistently eat here! Excellent quality from their mains to their sides to their drinks to their condiments to their desserts... Honestly, you need to try! Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Food is served quickly. There is ample space to dine in (I think parking in the back - I usually find on the street.) Well this place used to be super good, but recently they've made some changes and it's not the best. For example I used to always get the Chinese Salad. It had nice thick crispy noodles. Now the crispy noodles are so thin it can't be tasted. You can't really taste anything Chinese about the salad. Not sure what else they changed. No dressing. I believe there was some sort of Asian dressing on it that was missing as well. The thigh of the fried chicken was undercooked. Pink on the inside. But the employees are very nice. I came here pretty early to grab something to eat unfortunately it was before 11 o'clock so I had to get breakfast, but I really wanted to try their chicken. Luckily, the cashier who I think is the owner at that time told me that I could put the fried chicken in the breakfast burrito and that his most ordered item was this. I ended up getting that, with a banana cold brew. The banana, the cold brew was excellent, but I may be biased because I love banana anything. The breakfast burrito was really good and probably one of the better ones that I've had. I really liked the fried chicken in there. What I really want to showcase is that the service here was really good. I noticed that he treated everybody there with kindness and patience, including me, and really took the time to explain what he had. He even said that he could possibly do the lunch option if I only got chicken, but I ended up getting the burrito anyway. When I went to get my order, he explained each sauce and even gave me some red sauce that he said it goes really well with the chicken, and that it goes well with honey. He was so right, but I liked every sauce that he gave. I like the red sauce and the other spicy green sauce more the other one that's more like a chunky green sauce wasn't my favorite. The location is bright, clean and inviting. I also ended up getting their salted honey pie, which reminds me of a better version of crack pie from Milk bar bakery. I think that's saying a lot because the crack pie is amazing. I think they changed the name from crack pie to something else, but I don't remember the name of it. I came to Honeybird really excited after reading so many great reviews, and I ordered a pretty big spread: the family meal with a whole bird, collard greens, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, biscuits, a BBQ chicken salad, and a banana cream pie. The chicken and biscuits were definitely the highlight -- the chicken was flavorful and the biscuits were warm and comforting. I'd come back for those alone. The sides (collard greens, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese) were good but tasted pretty standard to me. Nothing bad, just nothing that stood out or felt special. If you're looking for something memorable, I'd stick to the chicken-focused items. The biggest disappointment was the BBQ chicken salad. It looked nothing like the photo, and it was much plainer than I expected. I also thought it came with fried chicken, but it arrived with grilled chicken instead, which changed the whole vibe of the dish. As for the banana cream pie -- it was fine, but not my favorite. There was a lot of cream and barely any banana or crust. If you're a banana cream pie fan, I personally think Bake n Broil in Long Beach does it much better. Overall, Honeybird has some solid items, but for me, the chicken and biscuits are the stars, and the rest of the meal didn't quite live up to the hype. read more

Went to HoneyBird today to try their fried chicken, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and biscuit--and everything was excellent. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked: crispy on the outside and flavorful without being greasy. I picked up a very faint hint of rosemary, which added depth without overpowering the dish. My kids are pretty picky eaters, but they absolutely loved the mac and cheese and the coleslaw, which says a lot. I initially thought I had ordered collard greens and mentioned it to the owner. They kindly asked if I still wanted some, and although I said I'd try them next time, the person who served us surprised us with a small bowl anyway. The collard greens were delicious--cooked with bacon, a subtle touch of vinegar, and a savory broth that really rounded out the flavor. Honeybird feels like a true hidden gem of a spot! We popped by for brunch on a Sunday morning after visiting Descanso Gardens as it was only a few minutes down the road. It was not super busy and we were able to grab a metered parking spot right out front on the street. We ordered a few things to try and it was all delicious. The fried chicken was so moist with a perfectly crunchy, flavorful breading. Also loved the seasonal peach tea to drink! The shining star for me were the biscuits though, which are made with bacon, cheddar and chives and come with a side of the most delightful maple vanilla butter. My friend got the chicken and waffles which were also so hearty and yummy! I was so impressed with the selections in their pastry case and was debating between the key lime pie, pecan pie, and hazelnut bread pudding. Honeybird is a great place for chicken and sides. I don't live near Honeybird at all, so I relish each visit, especially after visiting the Descanso Gardens! My wife and I split the 4 piece meal and chose mac n' cheese, collared greens, and house salad as our sides. The salad was a normal salad; the collared greens were packed with flavor, and the mac n' cheese was very smooth and rich. The chicken was fried beautifully. It didn't have any burnt parts or pieces, the fry was light yet still very crispy and seasoned well, and the meat was juicy. Some of the best fried chicken ever! Service is always courteous and welcoming here. This is also evident in the amount of families that stop by here for a meal. Atmosphere is very comfortable and casual. Took two bites into his fried chicken thighs, and realized that the meat was not just only undercooked, but still BLEEDING. He texted me a picture and the thigh was so raw around the bone, I was surprised the chicken wasn't still clucking. When he brought the food back to the cashier, he was told that the food was edible.
