Giovanna's is one of my favorite go to places in Ramsey. They are great for breakfast, or lunch. You get the same high quality ingredients wether you dine in or take out, and they conveniently have a take out entry way. Having dined in before COVID, and enjoyed the outdoor seating during they have responded perfectly and safely. My go to breakfast item is the steak and eggs, and my favorite lunch item is the grilled chicken ciabatta sandwich. The owner, Giovanna, is amazingly generous to the community and it's emergency services. Jackie, at the take out counter, always has a courteous and warming greeting. The wait staff is always very friendly and organized. The tables are always neat and tidy. They seat people as quickly as they can, but when it's busy, there can be a wait. My family and I (2 adults 2 young kids) was seated in minutes. The ambiance was bustling but not too crazy, and the host and the servers were quick and attentive. The selection was intriguing, as they offered a certain take on breakfast staples such as eggs, bacon, cheese, waffles, and pancakes. She asked three times if we were ready to order when we clearly weren't, never came by to refill the coffee (had to get another sever to get a refill) and when she dropped the food off, she didn't even bother to ask if we needed anything else. Basically Karina was MIA and not available. I think the thing that pissed me off the most was that when we went to pay, she completely ignored my boyfriend. She didn't bother to ask how anything was, didn't say thank you, no we'll see you soon, nothing. She just snatched the receipt from his hand and carried on with her conversation with what seemed to be another patron. We were never rude to her and gave her a 20% tip even after she ignored us the whole time because my boyfriend felt bad leaving anything less. She was so incredibly dismissive to us that we will never ever visit this place again. If the owner reads this, invest in training your people to treat people with respect. read more

Giovanna's Cafe is the perfect dine in option, located on the corner of an adorable town in Ramsey, NJ. Her space is decorated to make you feel like you're at a family event about to sit down and eat a home cooked meal. You definitely want to go and put your name down right away, because weekends will be busy. The particular day we went, Giovanna was short staffed, but you can see how hard everyone was working, running around trying to give the best service, including Giovanna. I admire her work ethic. This place is her baby and you can tell she protects it. The food was really good, but the biscuits were exceptional. I loved the little whipped butter it comes with to enhance the flavor even more. My friends and I really enjoy coming here for brunch on the weekends. The place gets super busy so you will probably have to wait and you can't be seated unless your full party is there. My friend is gluten free/celiac and they make sure they accommodate her so she never gets sick which is very important to me. I've been multiple times and I'd say the food is good overall. Breakfast here was delicious as always! I got the savory crepe which had steak, eggs, caramelized onions and cheese in it. The crepe itself had the perfect tang of sweetness and everything was so yummy. My sister got the garden veggie omelette and thoroughly enjoyed it. She also ordered a gluten-free lemon blueberry scone and let me split it and both of us widened our eyes with the first bite - it was that delicious. They gave us homemade blueberry butter which was so good. My mom (who is a picky eater) loved her meal, too. She asked for well done bacon and home fries and they did it for her. This place is always busy and you can tell why. I've come here a handful of times and this was one of the best experiences. There have been times in the past where I've encountered a less patient server and I did not plan on coming back after those negative experiences but my sister convinced me to give it another go and I'm glad I did! read more

I have eaten at Giovanna's a few times and the food is always amazing. Very fresh and many options. The service is always great also. And recently, actually for Father's Day, when I placed a late order, they accommodated me so beautifully. Michele family loved the sliced flank steak which was fantastic even cold the next day as leftovers, the pasta primavera with lovely sized pieces of really fresh vegetables and the most gorgeous salad with sliced apples, walnuts and cheese (can't recall which one but called the Chef's Special on the menu!). I wish I could give them 10 stars and as someone who had to host a lot but does not like to cook, I will be ordering from Giovanna's again and again!! read more

Tasty and quality food. A nice atmosphere to have brunch outside with some tea on one of their outdoor tables that line the side of the cafe. I liked the Giambotta a lot which was a vegetarian dish of many different vegetables, potatoes, in an olive tomato sauce. My fiancé got the chicken soup which was one of my favorite chicken soups I've had from a restaurant- tasted very homemade. Food that makes you feel like you're coming over family's house. Came to Giovanna's for breakfast with my friend on Sunday a little before 11am. We walked in and it was crowded, but only had to wait ~10 min for a seat. The owner was a bit aggressive when our table was free saying "you two, come with me, back of the house." The service was good the rest of the meal until she came over when we were finished just chatting and stared at us for a few seconds and then told us to look at the line in the front of the place. I thought this was a rude way to tell us to leave so she loses a star because of that. As for the food, I think we both enjoyed the omelets. My friend got the live it up omelette with bacon, cheddar cheese and caramelized onions. I got the green omelette with zucchini, peppers, onion, mushrooms and cheddar cheese. We both had a side of whole wheat toast and the dishes also came with home fries. Some of my home fries could have been cooked a bit longer, they weren't hard but they were as soft/crispy as they should have been. Some more sautéed onions/peppers and a bit more spice would have also taken the home fries to the next level. Lastly, toward the end of the meal, I found a few thing short hairs or fuzzes in my omelette and on my plate which was a bit gross. Overall, still a good option on Main Street for breakfast and the lunch sandwiches are great too! read more

Came here for brunch over memorial day weekend. It was a beautiful morning so we sat outside. Plus there was a bit of a wait inside so it worked out. Ordered French toast, silver dollar pancakes with chocolate and 2 of their specials- proud to be an American and God bless America. Everything was really good except for the God bless America special. The steak was so over cooked that it was hard and chewy. Poached eggs were hard as well. The hollandaise sauce was plain and the worst part is they used canned mushrooms. A big no-no in our book. Staff was very nice and helpful and checked up on us. Verdict is we would try it again but if there is a miss with the food that will be our last time. read more

It was slightly pricey compared to meatball sandwiches in general, but was on crispy and flaky ciabatta and their meatball was definitely above "the common." Personally I think a bit more mozzarella cheese & marinara would've been nice, but it was delicious anyway. One highlight - I got to meet Giovanna, the owner. She told me how they started 2 years ago, where they source some of the ingredients, and other stories about the business and her family. I personally hate going here. The owner, Giovanna, obviously doesn't care about her workers because they are more miserable individuals than she is. She is always unpleasant to be greeted by with such awful attitude. During the height of covid, (before the vaccines) she was the only one not wearing her mask probably; always under her chin so we can all see and hear her attitude well. My family enjoys the food here but to me, the cold, dead atmosphere is more than enough to keep me away forever. My sister will get to-gos but I'm not giving Giovannas Cafe any of my money because I know it's unappreciated. read more

Beware if using Giovanna's for catering. I had eaten lunch here a couple of times and liked the food so thought I'd have Giovanna's cater my event. I was extremely disappointed with the prices, especially given the skimpy portions. In addition, they really skimped on the meat in a pasta/sausage dish. They scarcely sprinkled a minimal amount of ground sausage in the tray so sausage flavor was undetectable. It tasted like plain pasta yet sausage was one of the key ingredients highlighted in menu description. Also, we ran out of food even though I used their guidance on quantity AND bought extra as a precaution. We did not have many "big eaters" in the crowd. It was very embarrassing, never had that happen before. Finally, I did not find the help to be friendly at all. Morano's Gourmet Market is two doors down from Giovanna's and I have found those folks to be more friendly and helpful with more generous portions of higher quality food overall. read more

Giovanna's Cafe is THE BEST!! It has become our go-to place almost every Saturday or Sunday morning since discovering it a few months ago. Delicious food, wonderful specials, friendly waitstaff and definitely a feel-good atmosphere. You can feel the love walking in and viewing all the family photos and word art on the wall. My husband's birthday was yesterday and Giovanna came out, got everyone's attention and had all the patrons singing Happy Birthday as she presented a slice of cake with a candle to him. This is a very cute and cozy cafe! It has been my go to place for brunch with some of my beautiful ladies. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. I have not had any bad experiences here. I've never experienced a wait here whether it was party of 3 or party of 6. They seem to know how to arrange their tables to accommodate more customers! Great coffee and lattes. I love that they offer weekly specials. The only thing I'd like to mention is that you must bring your check to the front register to pay for your bill. Have been there 30-40 times and have always had a great meal. Menu has great options from classic dishes to wonderful twists on classics. After Christmas all of the cousins wanted to have a sleep over and get breakfast so we did. We tried out this great new place for our meal and it was great. It is a great, clean, family oriented café. The menu is the right size for a small café and the food was all good. My brother eats plant-based and there was not too much on the menu that was strictly plant-based, but they do have a nice fruit assortment. Our group was 8 people, but that's about as big a group as you can do without a reservation because most of the tables are set up for groups of 2-4. They had nice holiday decorations up and the employees all seemed content and pleasant. I will definitely have to go back, and probably not the morning after Christmas, so it will be a little less crazy. read more
