Went to a party there, it was a private party so we had the whole Place to ourselves. Although the food was good, it was always cold. My girlfriend sent back her chicken parm three times and it still wasn't hot. The potatoes and veggies were cold. The appetizers were cold and even the coffee was luke warm. Not to mention, when we got home she got violently ill and vomited all night. The next day was a wasted day as she struggled to cope with whatever happened the night before. I was very disappointed in this place and I'm wondering if the food was tampered with when they brought it back to the kitchen 3 times. I understand it's a party and it felt like most of the food was pre-made. The service was good but the venue was not conducive to a party like this. read more

Recently moved to Ramsey and it may or may not have been because I wanted to be closer to Giovanna's. This place is adorable and makes you feel right at home every time you walk through the door. Fully obsessed with the style of this place and the menu is diverse and impressive for such a cozy little spot. I've tried a few different omelets on the menu, and the portion size is always just right. You can tell all the ingredients are fresh and each dish is totally made with love. Feels like you are sitting in someone's dining room rather than a restaurant-café and the staff is super pleasant and attentive. Viva l'italia omelet is definitely my favorite. Grape tomatoes cooked to perfection and gorgeously red. Mozzarella cheese melted wonderfully with prosciutto and the onions are not over powering at all. I will leave with you two words: STRAWBERRY BUTTER. Incred. Love that Giovanna's has become my local go to breakfast spot. read more

The location is small but really busy, but they offer a number of GF options. I also got the bagels and a scone. I wasn't a face of the scone but the bagels are really good. I rarely give five stars but felt as though Giovanna's cafe deserved it. It's a small eatery, has gluten free bakery options, and super personable. I had their eggplant rigatoni in tomato sauce and it was so delicious. The pasta taste very fresh as if they made it from scratch, the sauce was rich, mozzarella was super cheesy, and eggplant was crispy in the exterior and soft on the inside. Cliff notes: avoid this restaurant due to some extremely rude staff and inconsistencies in the quality of the food. I have gotten take out from here a few times. It was inconsistent with sometimes it being 4 stars and some complete duds. I kept trying because there aren't many restaurants in town that offer creative breakfast and they were occasionally on point. I eventually decided to give up on their take out but I decided to try eating at the restaurant to see if that would be a better experience. The service was unfortunately bad the first time I ate here. The young server was nice but lost. The food was 3-4 stars. I decided to give it another try. I'll sum up my last experience this way: for the first time in my life I left a restaurant before being seated because I was treated so rudely...and for no good reason. Definitely avoid. read more

Took my 3 yr old for a breakfast date one early Saturday morning. I really loved the ambiance and homey feel of the cafe. Loved the presentation of my latte (like, really loved). Service was good, too. Food wasn't that great though, sadly. The waffle was nowhere near light and crispy - more soft and sad. I ordered French fries, and they served them unappetizing-ly and awkwardly on a small flat plate. Side of bacon was good. My omelet was unseasoned, and I'm just not a huge fan of canned mushrooms, so to me it fell flat. Our second visit was not nearly as good as our first. We had some friends meet us for lunch since we had enjoyed our first visit and I was actually embarrassed that we did. I had the sausage and pepper hero that was more bread than anything, which was sad because what little filling there was actually did taste very good. Our waiter was a bit peculiar, to put it mildly-he wasn't friendly at all. We had to ask several times for things because we weren't sure if he forgot, didn't hear us, or was just very busy. He seemed to be following a script that couldn't be interrupted. When we were done eating, we were thinking of ordering dessert but the minute our plates were cleared, the waiter brought the check. I don't think we'll return. Food was good last time, but the filling on my sandwich was really not enough and the odd service was enough to turn me off. read more

OMG, my Significant Other and I are lucky to live in Ramsey, about 1.5 miles from Giovanna's Cafe and we make it a point to go there for breakfast/lunch at least one weekend day per week...both days if we can manage it. Where do I begin....her staff consists of a seasoned Chef and Sous Chef and several young, very professional and delightful young men and women who obviously enjoy where they work and who they work for. Seeing how her son Gaetano and her daughter Gina work along side her exemplifies what family is all about. From her amazing coffee, to the unbelievable omelets and the French Toast that is better by far then any place else I know in the Universe....I promise you that you will not be disappointed in anything you order. Giovanna is funny, sweet, gentle, friendly, professional and an absolute delight to be around. She welcomes you like she would into her home. She'll make jokes with you....does a little Cha, Cha for you when a customer expresses an interest in learning some "Dances With The Stars" moves. What a treasure! We found Giovanna's Cafe by accident, looking for a brunch place when the family was visiting from out-of-town. The service was excellent - fast and friendly. We were seated quickly, and water and menus almost immediately. Food is sourced locally, and the servings are generous. We support local sourcing! Among us, we had a Garden Omelet, Steak and Eggs, French Toast, and Chicken Waffles. All delicious. Then desserts. The banana bread is so good, and the Strawberry Shortcake is as tasty as it is pretty. Even the coffee was good. We definitely will be back. What a great place! read more

Remarkably, it's been almost 3 years since I came across this gem. What is more remarkable is the the experience and quality has not diminished one iota in those 3 years. How many time do you see a place that's awesome when it opens and then the quality really nose-dives? Most surely NOT the case here. Of course it's all due to Giovanna herself, who is still there running the joint, greeting customers new and old and ensuring that incredible food, homey feel and immaculate appearance. I also need to pay kudos to the specials menu. I've been here probably 50 times and it always seems that the offerings are new and fresh. Everytime I come here the food in UNREAL. Its so good. Personally my favorites are the grilled chicken sandwich & the Live it up omelette. But what I really love is the biscuits. They are on another level amazing!!!! I don't know what they do make them but oh my gosh they are soooooo unbelievably amazing. & The berry butter they make to put on them is so good too. I can't say enough good things about this place, as it has become one of our regular places to eat. We usually have Kristin as our server & she is so sweet & helpful & remembers us when we come in. Today, was a beautiful day. My daughter and I with my two grandchildren walked around the Ramsey Farmer's Market and then went to Giovanna's Cafe. It was very busy and were told we would have to wait at least a half hour. We patiently waited about 45 minutes and then were seated in the middle of the restaurant. My daughter ordered the avocado toast with arugula and eggs. She said it was good. There was a special menu with a few things listed one of which was "Breakfast Bomb" which was a biscuit with eggs, bacon and cheese. My grandson, granddaughter and I each ordered that, but we asked for one to be without cheese. Our waitress saw no problem with that. We then waited patiently for our order. As I said, we were sitting in the middle of the restaurant and could watch this woman who appeared to be the owner (and she was) was saying out loud to our waitress "you can't have that without cheese - and loudly said to her "you should know better than that and banged her hand down"!!! I felt so bad for our waitress and didn't say anything when she came over to us to tell us and then we asked our 9 year old to order something different. After that, I asked another waitress if those sandwiches were pre made and she said they are. I never expected that as the website says "the dishes are freshly cooked)!!! We then had to wait double the time for our order. I do not recommend the "Breakfast Bomb" or this restaurant when the owner is present. Her staff is to be commended for working there and i told them that when I left. I also told our waitress that I commended her for smiling all through this and that no one should be yelled at by their employer in front of customers. Kudos to the staff of Giovanna's and thumbs down to Giovanna herself who never came over to us to apologize for not being able to serve the pre made bacon, egg and cheese biscuit without the cheese. read more
