Well I did not want to leave a negative review as I have been a customer for over 15 years, but since Hank has taken over from Giovanni his dedication to provide good service is sub-par. On several occasions I have shown up in the morning when the shop is supposed to open only to wait over 1/2 hour for him to arrive (which he did not). On my next visit(s) I brought up that I waited and that he was a no show, 'at least' expecting an apology, which never happened. I even asked if he would have the shop phone forwarded to his cell phone so we could know whether to wait or leave. His answer is I don't want to be bothered on my personal phone. WOW after the second time this happened I was done. Very poor business practices. read more

I agree that it's a great classic barber shop. I've been a regular since moving from Ohio in 2005. I've always seen the staff to be courteous and attentive, especially when protecting the few parking spaces in a crowded lot from misuse by the cafe on the next lot. (The cafe protects their spots as well from being used by customers of the plaza in which the barber is located.) Maybe the woman complaining caught them on a day when prior customers were complaining about having to park blocks away when the lot is full (which I've done several times over the years) and they were giving shout-outs to let cafe customers to park in the cafe lot. I know the barbers there, and I've never see them as grumpy, harassing, or otherwise disrespectful. And since it is a barber shop with no reserved time spots, nobody knows who will walk in and get in line ahead of those who call to see what the crowd is like. I've called to see if my favorite barber is there and told he has an empty chair, but after arriving, there's a customer in the chair and one waiting. So you wait. And chat -- about great recipes, good restaurants, fun guy stuff, and more. And yes -- great hair cuts at a reasonable price. read more

Hank is the best! He knows what looks good, and how to cut mens hair to MAKE it look good. He knows all his customers and - even with all the heads he sees - remembers exactly what was done the last time. The location is convenient and historical (ask Hank about the history of the shop!) Best of all, his prices are very reasonable (cash only, though) and he is very quick... if the shop isn't busy you can easily be in and out in 15 minutes. This is the place to go if you want to get a better haircut than you get at those franchises that take coupons. Here, you get a great cut for a great price. Experience matters. I have gone here on two occasions and Giovanni has cut my hair. A classic Barber Shop and being that I am Italian, I would love to continue to support his shop. Today changed my mind.. I was going to get my haircut and was trying to schedule my running around. I called Giovanni's at around 2pm. A gentleman answered the telephone. It was not Giovanni for I know his accent. I asked how busy they were at the moment. He stated it is fine and to come down. I asked fine but how many people were in line. He became extremely rude and stated, "I cannot tell you, you just need to come down", he then proceeded to hang up. Well, that is it for me, I will NEVER support such rude and inconsiderate behavior. I just read the other reviews and apparently there are some rude behaviors that are allowed by Giovanni and his staff. Unfortunately, I am sure none of them at Giovanni's care or read Yelp Reviews.... I would not support this establishment. read more

There is no doubt Giovanni can do an excellent job cutting hair, but the negative reviews reveal the unfortunate facts. Not all customers are treated with respect while preferred pricing is offered to friends, old time regulars and favorites much like a Country Club. I believe this is not lawful. Giovanni has his base and is happy with that. While the quality of the cut is above reproach, I do find the attitude and civility of the owner seriously lacking what is expected in a professional establishment. The assisting barber seem nice and professional from what I have observed, but I would not recommend this business sad to say. read more

These are the best barbers in the area. I have been coming here since I was a child, and have since moved away, but I still come back for the haircuts because no one is as good. If you are into getting your haircut done right then this is the place to go. They take their time and do not rush, and the place is full of real barbers, not young girls fresh out of hairdressing school still learning how to cut hair. Don't be fooled by the poor reviews. There is a coffee shop that doesn't pay for the parking that they need, so they try and steel spots that Giovanni's pays for, and tells the customers to give poor reviews. I love that there is always parking when I need to get my haircut especially since I don't always have a ton of free time. If you want to best barbers in the area this is the spot to go. read more

Not impressed. Took my son in... the guy was not the most welcoming. Pleasant enough. I explained what we would like and he said let's start with a 4 I thought ok.. we can always take more off.. I told him how we usually get it since my son has wavy unruly hair. He proceeded to argue that he hasn't had it cut right ... blah blah blah.... then he said I don't know about a 3... at that point I got up to look at the back, I thought he was asking if we should take more off... apparently he didn't like that so he proceeded to take the blow dryer and blow all of my sons hair onto me.. I had a nice dress and sweater on. What a jerk!!!! Such attitude. I warn you stay away ... we have never gotten a worse haircut... nothing classic about this shop! Dirty too... never again.. I still have lil pieces of hair in my handbag... JERK WITH AN ATTITUDE.. Charlie's next time! To add to my review... you have just proven what a horrible barber you are and how little you know about the most important thing... customer service! First let's get the story straight... my son actually had his hair cut on May 15 less than 2 months ago. Second it was my impression that you were asking if we should proceed to a 3? Great classic barber. Told Giovanni what I wanted and that is what I walked out with. No nonsense, just sit down and tell the nice man what you want and that's what you will get. Make sure to bring cash, no cards accepted. Which I didn't have cash with me when it came time to pay the man, but he had no problem with me running across the street to the ATM. read more

I highly recommend Giovanni's Barber shop. They do a fine job for a fair price. The staff is professional, adapts to customers of all ages, and skilled with a range of haircut types. They are flexible... today they took me when I arrived earlier than normal shop hours, and another time they kept the shop open after hours when I was in a pinch and running late. Parking can be scarce at times but the value and overall experience is well worth the minor inconvenience. I am a customer for life. read more
