Clockwise: Fresh salad; artichoke dip with crispy Parmesan toast; salad; warm fresh bread with butter pats.

How many time can I write fresh, buttery and garlicky? The dinner rolls were fresh, hot and flaky. Perfect for a single pat of butter. But then came the artichoke dip, creamy and garlicky with a thin crust of toasted Parmesan. Also there was artichoke in there. The dip was accompanied by fresh, garlicky, toasted crisps with a crusty layer of more Parmesan. Boyfriend had the veal Parmesan and girlfriend had the eggplant Parmesan. Both came with spaghetti and fresh marinara sauce. We were tired of Mexican food and this was a good change. Also our waitress was friendly and happy which is always a good sign that management is treating her right.

    Nice wall art with Prosecco.

This place started out great with wonderful bread and attentive service but went downhill quickly when we found a bit of plastic wrap in our food. The hostess wanted us to immediately order drinks and I had to finally explain we had not been there before so we needed time to look at the menu. We had been traveling so hubs visited the restroom and when he came back he asked if I had ordered drinks and said no one came back after you left. We finally had a person stop by named Raquel. She was very nice and attentive. We ordered Cannelloni stuffed with spinach (still had the stems on the spinach which were tough and hard to chew) and Spaghetti Shrimp. The only bite my husband offered me was the one with the plastic in it so I put it on my bread plate. We finished our meal and left. We aren't from the area so there is no point in saying we won't return. This was our third choice and the only spot with a table.

Gluten free spaghetti and meatballs with creamy tomato sauce.

I started with a glass of Chianti. Served warm of course. But with a little ice it was decent. They only offer one label here: Bolla. But at least it's Italian. So that good. Nice little place for this tiny country town of Lampasas. Unexpectedly they had a gluten free spaghetti. Someday a place is gonna blow my socks off and have gluten free lasagna. Omg. I dream of it. I had the GF spaghetti with meatballs. I was gonna get the tomato sauce but the waitress, Adela, who was super nice and just the right level of attentive, kinda narrowed her eyes and said, are you sure you don't want the creamy tomato sauce? Hmm That made me second guess. So I changed it to that. Sounds like that's what most folks eat here. (After eating)... Ooh! She was right! Delicious sauce. Cute salad with house made tomato basil dressing  Ask for Parmesan

Salad swimming in a fish bowl. Seriously, I poured 1/4 cup of water out of the salad. There seems to be a consistent greasy flavor through the stuffed mushrooms, grilled rib eye, and the accompanying spaghetti noodle with mushrooms, onions, and a pinch of spaghetti. The greasy flavor is reminiscent of the grease trough in the flat griddle that hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The presentation of the steak and noodle is not appealing at all - there is no color on the plate. I expected the steak to be garnished with onion and mushroom but the vegetables were incorporated into the spaghetti with no kind of sauce, other than grease. The spaghetti with the onion and mushroom does not work. Plain nasty, to be honest. The other diner enjoyed his lobster ravioli - no complaints there. I was told that I shouldn't order a steak at the Italian restaurant. Well, if I am at Giovanni's, I must agree.

Best Italian in the area. Fantastic as take out or dine in. Love the lasagna and garlic knots.

Had lunch here last week and the food was good. However, Racquel who waited on us was amazing. Really helpful, attentive, and friendly!

But hopefully after learning from Alex, I will be able to make this on my own. This was a great collaboration with The Velvet Hen and VanBrocklin's Bistro. We learned the entire process beginning to end on how to make sourdough and the different folds and techniques to get the proper size crumb. We got to go home with our own jar of the families 244 year old sourdough starter named Petunia, and learned how to feed her and care for her. We got to bake a loaf there and learned why it's so important to wait 2 hours before cutting into it. I am desperately looking forward to more classes in the future, this was a great experience!
