I'm usually not a fan of pizza buffets. They usually, in my tastebuds/mind anyway, taste dull. The crust sufferers. Uneven temperatures. Not here. The buffet pizzas are nothing fancy to look at. But I grabbed 3 slices, Hawaiian, pepperoni and a sausage and mushroom. I'm not a big crust eater. I usually leave them on my plate. Not here. Soft and delicious especially dipped in their Italian dressing. Toppings were very good. Sauce was perfect. Not overly sauced but the exact right amount. The taste came through nicely. The salad. This was a garden salad. But well adorned with veggies. Iceberg and Spring Mix greens, grape tomatoes, freshly sliced cucumbers... you get the idea. As I mentioned earlier, I had their Italian dressing. But let me get to the salads impressive quality. It's served ICE COLD. The way a salad should be served. There's plenty of parking here at this plaza. I came here today because I had a coupon. The place has plenty of seating. They were not very busy. I felt a bit out of place. There weren't many families here. The service was mid. The food was expensive for what you get. Granted we didn't get pizza, we got pasta. The portions were small. I got the ahi tuna dinner . Located on Newport & Bradley Roads in the Newport Plaza with plenty of parking. The restaurant has a fresh new look since my last visit. I love that they added a dedicated pick-up counter. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated in about five minutes on this Friday busy evening. We tried the 'Angel Hair Pesto' and 'Spaghetti Carbonara'; both looked beautiful and used fresh ingredients. The pesto was a bit light on flavor (maybe a healthier take?), but still enjoyable. We finished with ice cream, which was the perfect treat. Their menu does consist of many Gluten Free items. The place is clean, organized, and the service is solid. Making all the right moves. News of a new chef spread fast in my circle of friends so yesterday some take out was ordered for lunch a large pizza and large antipasto was shared at home and garnered excellent comments. I often use the word cravable, and that it was so a return today to dine in was made. Lunch specials and pizza buffet all around and I'm here to say putting chef Kris Kile at the helm of this ship was a brilliant move. Everything from the salads an item of the new cod menu to the pizza, all solid 10 out of 10s. The sausage and mushroom pizza was so good I just about cried, and I want to return tomorrow. We were looking for good Italian food to bring to a family member in assisted living, and we lucked out on finding Giovanni's. We ordered a variety, including a salami sandwich, gnocchi and raviolis and everything was very tasty. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but it's actually got a good sized dining room and a cute homestyle atmosphere. I am kinda strange and order fettuccini Alfredo noodles with the chicken parmigiana ( red sauce on top) because it's delicious together. Stick to the pizza. Tonight I thought chicken parm why not. That's what I get for thinking. It was served on a bed of spaghetti with about a 1/2 cup of the most bland marinara I've ever had. The chicken parm tasted like the breast was cooked separately beforehand and then a coating of margarine bread crumbs and Italian herbs placed on top and put under a broiler, then add that bland marinara and mozzarella on top. If I were to imagine what 90 year old vaginas taste like this chicken is what comes to mind dry and tasting like s#%t. The service was good though. Not her fault. $80 Mistake - Disappointing Service & No Accountability We were excited to try this place as first-time local customers, but unfortunately, our experience was awful. We brought our family, including our toddler twins, and ordered ribs and their special--a large pizza with toppings, which came with a small cheese pizza for an extra $5. Our food took an unreasonably long time to arrive, which is tough when dining with little kids. When it finally came, the server (Damaris) told us the kitchen had forgotten to make our large pizza. No apology, no offer to make it right--just, "Oops." So, while our kids ate the small cheese pizza (not what they wanted or myself), we had to wait even longer for the food we actually ordered. We also asked for everything to be packed to-go since we knew our kids wouldn't last much longer, yet my husband's meal was never boxed. When the check arrived ($78), there was no discount for the kitchen's mistake or our long wait. I asked, and the server claimed no manager was even on site. Who's running this place? When I requested a small gesture--like a complimentary dessert--the owner's brother (who was onsite but had no authority, apparently) refused. Instead of any empathy or hospitality, our server was smug and dismissive, even when I mentioned leaving a review. She literally said she didn't care. If that's the attitude here, we won't be back. Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant handles them matters. No apology, no effort to make things right, and zero accountability from management? That's unacceptable. We just recently moved to the area and have been looking for pizza. Pizza was just perfect - it was savory. Leftovers the next day had the same flavor with its veggies still crunchy. I bought pizza for a friend and they said "they were cheap with the toppings and sauce " the zucchini sticks were mushy and flavorless. My wife, daughter, and I recently visited Giovanni's Pizza and Pasta, and we were thoroughly impressed. We specifically chose this place because my wife has a gluten allergy, and let me tell you--this place is a dream come true for anyone needing gluten-free options. According to the menu (and confirmed by the staff), 85% of their items can be made gluten-free! The owner's wife is celiac, so they really take it seriously. My wife was in heaven. She started with the gluten-free garlic cheese bread, which she said was delicious--though the portion was a little small (just two round pieces with marinara, which was also really tasty). For her main, she got the 12" Gluten-Free Alfredo Chicken Pizza. The crust was crisp and perfectly cooked, and the Alfredo sauce was rich and flavorful. I tried a slice myself and honestly couldn't tell it was gluten-free. The chicken had a rotisserie-style flavor she loved. I ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza and a side of breaded buffalo wings. That pizza was fantastic--easily one of the best sit-down pizzas I've had in our area. The wings were decent; I'm not the biggest fan of breaded wings, so I'd rate them a 6.5, but the flavor was still good. Our daughter got the kids' meal with three mozzarella sticks and a half-pound of fries, and she was in love. The fries were crisp, and the portion was generous. The inside of Giovanni's is warm and cozy, with a very family-friendly vibe. The staff were all welcoming and kind. Our main server was very nice but didn't have much knowledge of the gluten-free items and had to check with the kitchen a few times.
