It's March 26, 2025. I had a takeout order they missed putting half of the order in the bag. I had to go back instead of a plate. They have paper thin plates, which are less usable for food than a disposable napkin at JACK IN THE BOX it was sad to see this place go downhill so much. It was last year years ago and had great memories. The young girl who took my money, seemed dazed and confused. She didn't seem to understand that four people were eating this large order I had to keep asking her for things that she should've simply provided so sad I wouldn't come back. read more

Great food, especially the mozzarella cheese--the taste and consistency that I love. I had a pepperoni and black olive calzone. (Unfortunately, they do not offer green olives!). My wife had the Parmesan chicken sandwich, which was also delicious. The place was a little run down, not very clean, but the restrooms were nothing short of intolerable. The smell was really bad. There was no water to wash my hands! Thank goodness for some hand sanitizer on the premises. Avoid the restrooms! They were also out of Coca-Cola in the dispenser so I splurged for a bottled one that was warm; I had to ask for a cup with ice. Since I ordered 2 pizzas and a couple salads, when I asked for ranch, the always super helpful young tall strapping fellow that runs the place just gave me a full bottle of ranch. Always good. The pizza here is old school scrumptious. I ordered the Margherita Pizza. The sauce was flavorful, the crust thick, and the cheese plentiful. I got the thicker crust. My friend ordered a sausage and olive pizza on a thinner crust. It was great too as I tried a piece. This place is a classic and has been here since 1987. Took advantage of the lunch special with salad, pizza slice and drink. I was pleasantly surprised at the decent size salad with Italian dressing and the pizza slice was very big. Both were real good. I'm sharing a pic of the pizza slice...I would have included the salad but my hunger overtook me and I immediately ate the salad. The service was fantastic. My dog was with me so I ate in the outside patio that was real nice and shaded from the sun. The ambiance was nice. I need to point out that the guy who helped me treated me very well as he brought my food outside so I could remain seated in the patio with my pooch. I thought that he was the owner and told me that he was a hired employee. His service and friendliness showed deep responsibly as though he owned the place. Kudos to him and I hope that his employer reads this and gives him some recognition. This has become my Italian go to eatery whenever I'm in Carpenteria. read more

Never had the pizza but we drive up from the San Fernando Valley just for their Hoagie Sandwiches. Honestly, for my wife's birthday I can take her to pretty much any restaurant she would want to go to and she has picked Giovanni's for the Veggie Hoagie. It can be several months since our last visit and the owner remembers what sandwiches we order and how we like them prepared. The patio area is always nice and clean. The food comes out quickly and everyone we have encountered working there (owner's family?) have always been nice and friendly. Read some of the reviews that complain about the restrooms and they are indeed not eloquent but that's not why we go there. From the counter where you place your order, you can see the food prep area that's clean and well-maintained and that's what's important to us. read more

I am so disappointed in this place. I ordered a Pizza and they gave me a buzzer to call me in when it's ready. I waited 30 minutes and saw people get their orders within 10 minutes. Then my buzzer rings and I go pick up my pizza just so they can tell me it was a mistake and my pizza is not ready. I wait another 30 minutes and I go check on them again just so they can tell me my pizza isn't even on the oven because they freaking forgot about it! I spent $27 on a pizza that I never got to eat. Giovanni's Pizza in Carpinteria makes really great food, I personally like their lunch specials that they offer starting at 11am and ending around 3:30pm (I think). The 3 sandwiches I've tried there are the chicken Parmesan, Meatball, and Turkey. These 3 sandwiches are all great and the other ones they offer seem great as well but I just haven't had the chance to try them yet. This Pizza place is conveniently located in the direct center of carpinteria between Linden Avenue and Carpinteria Avenue, very convenient. Also tip: on the lunch special it comes with a garden salad but you can sub it for a Caesar salad (and I'm sure you could also do others). There is both inside and outside seating, but I must say the interior of this place is in great need of a face lift, as it is actually sort of dingy inside. I am gluten free and this pizza is the single best gluten free pizza I've ever had. It tastes like regular! Even my dad who is a pizza purist are some of my gluten free pizza today and he LOVED IT and said he couldn't tell a difference. He also had the chicken Caesar salad and thought it was great.
