I am skeptical of giving three stars to this establishment only because I am second guessing the cleanliness of the place. The pizza was great, hot and tasted delicious. The restrooms had no paper towels to dry your hands or any seat covers. I'm not sure if seat covers are not in use anymore as it is a beach town so I was not sure about dinging them on that. It was my first time here and it was not too crowded but enough people that the food was moving along. The three stars is because there was mold in the parmesan cheese shaker literally a green mold clump and the cheese was clumpy which could have been from steam getting in the shaker from the hot pizza and the vapors going up into the cheese shaker (?) The salt shaker also had clumps and those were pink and I don't know how salt turns pink other than it's old. It looked like the containers have never been wiped down. They had a layer of grime and stickiness to them and caked on residue. The pepper shaker had residue stuck to the inside of the wall and I'm not sure if these are changed out regularly as the flavor loses its potency when it dries out. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was an error in missing these particular containers, but I would come back because the pizza tasted great and the staff was nice and I'm hoping the food areas and food handling practices are sanitary. read more

Walked in for dinner and there was no customers. For a minute we weren't even sure if there were any employees either. Suddenly someone appeared. Before we ordered anything they let us know that pizza would take at least 35-45 mins. We weren't in a hurry so we were fine with that. It was cold outside so we chose to sit inside. However, with no other customers, and 5 in our party, we could not find a clean table for our party. The tables, nor the seats, appeared to be wiped clean from previous customers. To drink, I had the ice tea. When I took a sip, it tasted very odd. I stirred it with the straw, and when I pulled the straw out of the cup, it was thick and syrupy. I asked for a clean cup to get a soft drink instead. The pizza actually took almost 1 hour, and wasn't that great. We won't be back. read more

Amazing service and delicious food! We're from Orange county, we brought our football team to Carpinteria for a game and we contacted Giovanni's to see if they could accommodate 55 players and coaches for our pre-game meal. They were more then accommodating, everyone was extremely helpful and attentive. They had an area set up for when we arrived so our team/coaches could all eat together, food was ready, hot and ready to serve when we arrived. Everything was delicious, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken fettuccine alfredo, garlic bread, and salad. We ordered Pizzas for after the game. They stayed open a little later then advertised to make our pizzas and warm up our leftovers from earlier. They far exceeded our expectations and we are so thankful for all they did! Cost $20 for a pizza feeding 4. Dirty place; table had two broken glasses sitting there when we showed up. Owner is 'off'; couldn't tell when he was talking to us or himself because sometimes he'd be near us cleaning a table and looking at us, and other times he was looking away at the tv or outside but speaking very loudly (we were the only guests at 3:00 PM on a Sunday). Me and my people were in conversation with each other and it was irritating to talk loud enough to hear each other over the manager/owner. Pizza was alright, still edible. I don't understand a single good review for this place. The pizza is so greasy they literally mop it with a towel in full view of people ordering it from the register line. The staff is so "whatever" and casual that it's like the pizza making process is on autopilot and nobody gives a shit about either the food or the service. Yuck. We only tried this place because Tharios was closed for some reason and we had pizza on the brain. The pizza crust is so tough, even the cook couldn't cut through it apparently. It is like cardboard. They sell Trader Joe's wine by the glass. They do not have one dessert option. I'm from the east coast so I know good pizza and this one is not even close. read more

Returned here for the first time in many years, and cleanliness is still an issue. However, the calzones were amazing, and the pizza was very good. Also ordered a bbq roast beef sub, which was good but not exceptional. The difference between large and small subs is only $1, but all you are getting is a larger roll. The amount of ingredients remains the same, so get the small, and save a dollar. Seen reviews about bad service, but we called ahead, and the food was ready just as we walked in. Grew up eating the Montecito one which is sadly now gone. This is the closest approximation and seems to be same recipe, but the quality is all over the place. The time before last I swore would never eat it again, then broke down and got it again subsequently and it was a damned masterpiece. That last one had fresh garlic on it and I requested it well done or "crispy". Anyway give it a shot. Eat a piece in the car as you leave, you can almost hear your dad cursing at you. read more
