Our son was here several years ago and complained about a hair in his food. It was sent back to the kitchen and came out with more hair! That was enough for us so we stayed away until recently when our neighbors began saying good things about the food and service. The food was always good here - my favorite is the chicken parm and our recent dinner was no exception. Service was very good, salads came with a large variety of dressings. The rolls and garlic knots arrived hot and didn't disappoint. The chicken parm is huge, perfectly cooked and came with a large side order of pasta. I got 2 meals out of it. We have been eating at restaurants owned by the Anzalone family for over 20 years - first at Pizza Pasta in Warminster also at a small pizza shop in Dresher and at Adrianna's in Richboro. Giovanni's is our "go-to" place on Saturday evening. As stated in other reviews, there might be a lengthy wait if you arrive after 6:00. They will take reservations for a party of 6 or more. As far as recommendations, I have never had a bad meal. My favorite meals are Chicken Margarita, Chicken Marsala, and Eggplant Parmigiana. All of the pasta dishes are delicious and the marinara sauce is excellent. Plan on going hungry- or going home with enough leftovers for another meal. My husband and I have settled into the habit of splitting a caprese appetizer (I think it gets larger every time we order it) and 1 entree - plenty of food for both of us. On our latest visit, we had a party of 6. We had a reservation, but still had a bit of a wait. Bitty, our waitress, was cheerful, efficient and friendly. Consistently good food when dining in or getting take out. Never had a bad meal here. Portions are always large enough for left overs. Chicken parm and spaghetti is a regular choice for us as well as penne vodka and spaghetti and meatballs for the kids. Even the kids portions are large! Giovanni's for lunch provided a pleasant atmosphere with decent food at fair prices. A bit disappointed because several people had touted it as the best Italian restaurant. I did not find it superior to any of the other area Italian places where we have eaten in the last 40 years. There was only one soup offering - Pasta Fasogli (sp?). The broth was thin and did not have much flavor. Eggplant Parm and Steak Sandwiches were tasty with a good ratio of filling to roll. I have been stopping at Giovanni's for lunch and dinner off and on since Marcello opened the restaurant. Lunch is easy with good pizza or steak sandwich but dinner he clearly shows is skills in the kitchen. Wednesday "All You Can Eat Mussel Night" is wonderful with good size mussels and a sauce that makes it delightful. Not only is Marcello a master in the kitchen but his staff of servers are well trained and polite. I just attended a party with about 40 people for the Italian traditional Christmas "Seven Fish Dinner." It was wonderful and 40 people walked out full of well prepared food. read more

What a ridiculous place. I have severe allergies to many foods and had no idea I would be unable to have ANYTHING on the overpriced menu. When I told the waitress, she was very nice and asked the cooks what they could do about it. She told me to design my own meal so I ordered the simplest thing: broiled salmon and grilled veggies. I could have made this meal for about $7 in about 15 minutes. I'm sure the cook didn't go far out of his way to make it. In fact, he probably welcomed the change. Imagine my surprise when the restaurant had the nerve to charge $22 for this "special" dish that didn't come with bread, salad and a beverage as the other meals did, all of which were less than this by at least $4 or $5. Absurd! I am used to restaurant workers and owners actually caring about people not dying in their restaurants due to food allergies and not monetarily ripping them off as punishment, but I suppose this is the East coast, not California. As a BYOB place to not have pint glasses and/or more than one bottle opener was quite shocking. Regardless, they appeared to have a pizza shop vibe so I'm guessing its not all too necessary. Not a great experience. Our waiter was an Asian guy - although very nice, he was coughing in his hands and going over and getting drinks and utensils. He was stacking chairs and touching the bottom of the legs of the dirty chairs and then gathering more drinks for customers. Hidden gem on York Road. It looks like a regular pizza place, but the best part about Giovanni's is the dinners. They have a great selection of entrees and the portions are enormous. Dinners come with a salad and bread, which is soft, warm, and delicious. I always leave with leftovers which can be enough for two meals. The food is tasty and well worth the price. Giovanni's is also a BYOB. The only downside is it can get rather loud at peak times and the parking situation isn't great, but they do offer valet. read more
