We loved the decor. Our waiter, Watson, was wonderful. He knew the menu, was professional and chatted a bit. The kitchen makes GF pasta! My friend said it was cooked perfectly and delicious. Portions were good sized so come hungry. We liked being seated up front near the window. Valet parking is across the street. There are also garages and on-street parking. Unfortunately, this may be my last visit to Cibreo. We have had tickets to the Broadway series at Playhouse Square for 30 years. We frequently go to.Cibreo's for dinner before hand. However, Thursday night was the worst. I we sat at the bar as we usually do. I will compliment the bartender and the calamari appetizer. However, the chicken marsala was anything, but! It was a dry overcooked hockey puck on a small bed of sauce with no mushroom or taste. It tasted like burnt gravy. In addition, they ran out of bread. Which could happen I suppose. However, we watched as bread was being served to side tables in the bar. read more

Came here before seeing Hairspray at the Connor theater. We had 5:45 reservations for 8 people. We let our server Watson know we were going to the 7:30 show. No problem. We had cocktails starters and coffee and plenty of time to walk across the street. This was a lovely restaurant decorated nicely. They have a lovely bar and an entrance from the back We parked at 17 th and prospect and it was all very convenient. The old fashion was nicely done. My husband and I so,it the banana peppers and eggplant parmigiana. They brought two plates with the meal split. Perfect. We would've had leftovers otherwise so it was just right. Update: stopped in again before a play. Different bartender; same experience. Took a long time to get acknowledged let alone served a drink. I noticed it with all new guests that sat down. Really good experience, wonderful atmosphere and our waitress was very friendly. I had the Cibreo bolognese which has great flavor (noodles were a little over cooked) and my wife had the Cod piccata (larger purple potatoes were a little under and hard) and she loved it. The fish was cooked really well and still crispy even with the sauce. The oil/pesto/butter with bread they provide at the start was amazing. We will definitely go again. read more

I have driven past this place so many times it's kind of ridiculous. A friend and I came here after work for dinner. The atmosphere is intimate and it was dim but not too dim. We started off with the bruschetta which was fine. We got a caesar salad to split and I went with the chicken marsala. The chicken with the sauce were very tasty and the polenta was also lovely and well paired. Our server was lovely and attentive without being overbearing. Have been here twice now and always before seeing a show. Staff is great at giving you full and efficient service, always getting you out in time for curtain call. Went before a 7:30 showtime with reservations at 6pm, we weren't greeted until about 6:20. Our waiter was also the bartender which was not ideal. We put all our food/drinks in at once but we still didn't have our meals by 6:45. The hostess assured us multiple times our food was "coming soon" and that she was "hurrying it along" but around 6:50 we decided to just pay for our appetizer and drinks and had soft pretzels at the theatre:( Scarfing down a $27 Bolognese in 10 minutes isn't really the vibe we were going for. drinks were okay, the bruschetta had a really strong raw garlic flavor which we didn't like. It was $50 for two cocktails and an appetizer, which is expected from a nicer restaurant but the service and the food we did get wasn't great. They have an option on their reservation portal to let them know you have show tickets, but it didn't seem like that really made a difference. Overall really disappointing experience. read more

Stopped in for dinner before a show at Connor Palace. Ordered the Italian salad and chicken piccata. The salad was drenched in what seemed like bottled salad dressing. The waiter did notice and this was removed from our bill. Chicken piccata was dry and honestly seemed like yesterday's meal warmed in a microwave. Coffee did not seem fresh brewed and was foamy and luke warm... most likely from an expresso machine. We will be back to see another show but will be carefully reading reviews to make a better dinner selection. With a little effort the meal could be improved. Our waitress messed up the orders, one of which couldn't even be eaten. When Manager was called he advised that on Broadway nights the kitchen won't adjust an order the entrees are as is. This would have been fine if waitress had told my friend that instead of bringing a meal she couldn't eat. Cibreo is a perfect place to visit before a night out at the Playhouse Theatre. The atmosphere is elegant but casual, and the service is great. The location is directly across the street from the theaters, and the food is well-proportioned I highly recommend the stuffed peppers and the Fritto Misto appetizers. Yum! I do have to warn you. You should make your reservations early if you plan to visit the restaurant before show times at the Playhouse. Not sure if it was the emptiness on a Sunday night, the attempted classy but borderline tacky decor, or the semi-slow service, but I just didn't find this restaurant super exciting. Reminded my party of 4 of an upgraded Olive Garden. That being said, I did enjoy the food. We started the meal with some complimentary warm bread and pesto, which was delicious. We then split the arancini and meatballs as an appetizer, then I got the carbonara. Dessert was yummy tiramisu and fun zeppoli, or fried dough balls with delicious dipping sauce. I was happy with all of my food, but not blown away. A huge plus was that Cibreo was offering by far the best restaurant week deal, which is how we chose it. 2 three course meals for $40, and it was worth it. Overall this was a good meal, especially for the price, and worth checking out if you're interested. I'd be hopeful that Cibreo is more fun on a Friday or Saturday night when downtown Cleveland is a little more bumpin. read more

Pleasant atmosphere and lighting. Server was polite and efficient, but not terribly social or friendly. Food around the table was outstanding, including the tiramisu, although my chicken parmesan was a bit overcooked. Came at 4:25 pm after the Christmas POPS concert. Only few in restaurant. Waitress was not personable; We did have a Frito Misto appetizer with disappointing baby shrimp and 3 pieces of calamari. Our main meal was served at 5:20 after we asked where our food was. Food was tasty but nothing that gave us a wow this is delicious feeling. It is in a great location downtown especially if you are attending a show, but make sure you call and make reservations ahead of time as it is difficult to get in especially on the weekends. The food options are good, yet most seem a bit small. We enjoy the appetizers and pastas. The bolognese and chicken parm has been our favorites so far. (We have been here multiple times and twice my chicken has been over cooked on the chicken Parmesan, to where the edges were burnt. I ordered a saltimbocca and it was a pork loin wrapped in prosciutto with sage, pinot grigio, and a side of polenta with braised kale. They also provided me with 3 pieces of their delicious bread with a small container of butter and herbs and oil. It was absolutely delicious. Let me start by saying I've eaten here at Cibreo's several times and I've always been extremely satisfied with the food. Yesterday I ordered it to go. The food was ready when I arrived there. It's a beautiful restaurant and I loved seeing it decorated for the holidays. The staff is always kind and pleasant to talk to. The dinner menu is a little pricey but the food is really good. This restaurant is directly across the street from Playhouse Square. A beautiful restaurant! Loved the decor. Our server was very friendly and very good. Attentive but didn't hover. He recommended the Salmon when I was undecided between it and another dish. He also assisted us with our wine choice (and no, it wasn't the most expensive one!) which we appreciated. He was aware we had theatre reservations and was prompt but didn't rush us. The food was excellent. My salmon was cooked to perfection. Others in our group had the cheese ravioli in Bolognese and said it was very good. Okay good, but weird atmosphere. The decor is very early 2000's Tuscan Italian which is dated in todays time. Definitely would appeal to an older generation but would hardly consider this a posh Italian restaurant. It is on the threshold of being considered fine dining. The service was okay, our waitress was attentive but I noticed some unprofessional waitstaff. Some were yelling across the restaurant to the bar looking for a guy named Andrew. There was also a taller bald gentleman on the wait staff who was very very poorly dressed. Dress shirt was untucked, messy unkempt beard and his tie was hardly considered presentable. We came at 6:00 on a Sunday and towards the end of dinner it felt like they were rushing everyone to finish up so they could leave early. The menu was quite simple which was nice, we ordered the Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Piccata and it was just okay. Better than Olive Garden Italian but hardly would consider great Italian. My wife and I had never been to Cibreo before, so this was a virgin venture. Our server was Sean who a gem of welcome and friendliness. For me, whenever experiencing a new restaurant, the best test is not to pick out items on the menu that any "cook" can make, rather something that only a real "chef" would not screw up. We chose "calamari fritti" and "Tuscan braised beef". We'll get back to that in a moment, but first, let's get through the doors again! Cibreo receives a '5' rating for a very simple reason. If it is an ethnic restaurant, does it capture the mood of the country it purports to represent? Cibreo has an Italian atmosphere. It feels Tuscan and looks Tuscan. Cibreo represents Central Italy. It reminds me of Tuscany and Florence. Sticking to a narrowed menu, it seems as though the notion is cook it well. The calamari fritti was tender and lightly crunchy. Browned to a gold, it dipped into a perfect blend in the gently vinegared dip. Yum! Gnam a cuesto'uomo! Finally, test two. The Tuscan braised beef was fork-cutting tender with a luscious sauce while blended nicely with the polenta and spears of asparagus. Don't just take my word. We we were seated right away, our server was great - friendly and helpful. Ordered drinks and the meatball app. The meatballs were excellent - tender with great flavor. Arrived at 5:15 before the pre theater group gathered. Friendly waitress. Ordered food before the theater crowd came in. Waited too long for our meal as tables around us who came in and ordered after us were served and paid their bills. My friend's pasta was overcooked. It was obvious that my meal had been sitting in the kitchen for a long time. Cold chicken Marsala with a hardened mushroom sauce, cold sticky polenta and undercooked asparagus. All of it overpriced. Nice young waitresses polite to us but who obviously preferred and favored the younger crowd. It was served late so we needed to rush to the show across the street. Bill took ages to get to us...and even longer to process- even though the crowd was gone by then. I'll never be back. Avoid this place at any cost...unless you enjoy indigestion and stress before you see a show. One of my worst Italian restaurant experiences in Northeast Ohio. Eat fast food instead of coming to Cibrero's. Wish I'd been spared this terrible meal that helped give me indigestion during the theater experience that followed. What a disappointment! read more

I have gone to Cibreo multiple times with family and friends over the last couple of years. We usually go before the theatre since it is right across the street from Playouse. When it comes to the service, it truly is a hit or miss. They have booths in the bar area which we usually sit and so we have had a mixture of bartenders/waiters wait on us. Some have been absolutely amazing, and some, like our last waiter, wasn't the best. Slow at getting our drinks. Slightly rude. The whole shabang. However, the food is always delicious! There has only been one time we had to send back our food because it was cold. They apologized and gave us free dessert, so that was nice of them! I usually get pasta (since it is an italian restuarant) but their steak and burgers are also delicious as well. When it comes to getting the best experience, I highly recommend sitting in the bar area. It is a totally different feel and atmosphere then the rest of the area but if you are looking for a place for a larger dinner party, then there is plenty of room here, without feeling crowded. Two things to note though. PARKING: There is valet, but it is kind of hard to get to because they're doing construction right next door. There is a lot on E 13th that only a block away (easy to walk to) and it is the best priced one around ($10 is the most I've ever spent there). RESERVATIONS: Always make a reservation far in advanced. This place I swear is always booked up. I'm talking even farther out then a month. But if you are in the area, there sometimes is open seating at the actual bar which is full service. read more

So I'll give this place 4 stars. It had a very nice ambience. I loved the layout of the restaurant. It was very rustic. It looked cozy but not really. I sat a table for two across from my boyfriend and I felt like we were so far apart. Like this is not a place I wanna speak loudly in and I can't believe I'm complaining about lots of table space...but I am. I wish I was closer to the person I was with. So we started the night with cheesy garlic bread and it was phenomenal. It was accompanied by this tomato sauce. For my entree I ordered their ravioli with truffle and that was bomb.com! I was kinda disappointed because their menu was like 2 pages long but I still found the ravioli. I ate it all up. We skipped on dessert because we were so full. So overall the place is nice. I would have liked a better seating arrangement. The food was great however I wouldn't pay that much for what I got. Then again, it is downtown. My server was the best! Is it possible to love the service and hate the food? Disclaimer: I love all Italian foods and it's got to be terrible for me not to love pasta. With that said, service was great. Prompt bread and drink service. And the waiter was quite attentive. On to the food, the cheesy garlic bread app was bread and cheese foil. The cheese was stuck on the foil and when you went to get a slice, only soggy bread came loose. Such a shame As for my entree, gnocchi tasted hard and stale. The pork was non existent and the sauce was bland. I would have returned it but had already down two drinks and wasn't feeling too impress that the food was going to get any better. So. The restaurant not only had you feeling you were in Italy, but it was convenient as well, we were able to walk across the street to the theatre after dinner.
