Wanted to eat something different so we went for pasta. Very thankful they were open until 11pm so we didn't have to feel like were rushed or anything. Service was great, everyone was very pleasant. We were on the heated patioish extension and it was very cute. We ordered the Fritti Misto and the whipped ricotta bread as a starter. There was more vegetables than seafood but it was still good. The bread was okay, needed salt. Our mains we got the short rib pasta ( gluten free ) and crispy chicken limone, both something my husband and I don't normally get when we go to Italian restaurants. I feel that the short rib pasta might be better with a red sauce as it was slightly bland. My entree though was delicious. I am so glad I tried something different. With most spicy foods I find that they aren't very spicy - I didn't have that problem here. I have an extremely high tolerance for heat & this sauce was truly spicy! The servers here a great! This was one of the best date nights I've ever had. I made a reservation and we were seated in the cutest little booth in the middle of the room where we could see everything happening around us. The lighting was just dim enough to suggest intimacy, while still being bright enough to see your menu easily. There is an open kitchen you can watch as they make your food and the servers top it with Parmesan and bring it to your table. I ordered the wedding soup and spaghetti with one big meatball, my date ordered the spaghetti as well but tried his hand at the fresh bread and herbs in olive oil. The bread was crisp and had the taste of smoke from a summer grill, it was so flavorful, even better in the oil. The wedding soup was different than I expected, but when I tried it I was blown away. It was the best wedding soup I have ever had, and I will dream about it later. The spaghetti was obviously homemade noodles, and they were cooked to the perfect al dente. It didn't take much to fill us up. The meatball on top was massive and so tender and flavorful. They even added two pieces of bread on the side of our plates in the shape of a heart.. I think because I made the reservation under "date night" special occasion. It was a beautiful night, and I would be remiss if I did not say the server was excellent as well. The vibe here is not dine and dash, it is "stay and connect". You are not hurried out the door when you finish, they know how to time your experience perfectly without pushing. My husband and I went here for my mom's birthday dinner. My husband and I really enjoyed our salad and the chicken Parmesan. It was a large portion, so we had plenty for leftovers. My mom asked for chicken Marsala, which wasn't a standard menu item. The chef was willing to prepare it which my mom appreciated. Unfortunately, it didn't come with much sauce and the flavor was really lacking/it was fairly bland. The manager checked in with our table, valued my mom's feedback, and two birthday desserts were brought out for the table to share. The desserts were okay. Pizza we had was horrible. My friend wanted to try the hot honey? There was so much liquid on it you couldn't even lift a slice . Literally a limp wash rag. I do want to try the halibut In piccata sauce but affraid that will be drenched and over power the fish. First I am going to make sure the fish is fresh not frozen. Service was good. Went to a birthday party there on Tuesday evening (3/10). Place was crowded. Our party of ten (10) had a reservation but was seated with two tables pushed together with 4 chairs on one side and cushioned bench seating on the other. It was enough for 8 people. The service was professional. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was fine but overpriced. Two (2) IPA beers and veal marsala was $47. I asked for a separate check since I did not want to add to the bill for those hosting the birthday party for their son. My issue is...I was charged a mandatory 20% tip for having a separate check and an ADDITIONAL 20% tip for sitting at a table of 6 or more. So, I was charged a mandatory 40% tip ($18.80)?!!!! That means my veal marsala and two beers cost me over $60. I didn't notice this double dipping mandatory tip until I got home. How can this place justify that? I'll never go back. They got me. We LOVED the Short rib Arancini! My husband got the Crispy Chicken Limone and I got the Chicken Parmesan. Both were okay, a little bland but the chicken was tender and crispy. Afterwards we both got a slice of the Carmelized Cheesecake that was some of the best cheesecake I've ever had. It wasn't overly sweet and the cream sauce they put over it was amazing! It looks really nice inside - an open, clean environment. When we were seated, they had the doors open and a bunch of cold air was coming in. So I went to the entrance and asked if we could shut the doors since it was cold. They said I could shut one set of them, which solved the problem. We started off with a few appetizers: - Sausage bread: it was filled with Italian sausage and cheese with a side of marinara. Fresh and delicious! - Zucchini fries: lightly battered and crispy. Not too greasy or heavy. They came with lemon aioli and marinara. I don't dip fries in aioli (because to me I want something more acidic to balance the grease), but they were great with the marinara. - Calamari/shrimp: it had a ton of veggies in it (more veggies than calamari and shrimp lol), but it was not too greasy and had good flavor. As for entrees: - Pesto bucatini: this is what I ordered. Unfortunately, it had a very heavy basil taste (flavors not balanced well) and a pool of oil at the bottom. I needed to add salt and pepper to make it enjoyable, and I never do that at restaurants. The pasta didn't have a hole in the center, so it wasn't true bucatini. - Bolognese bucatini (tried my dad's): it was the best bolognese sauce I ever had! Great depth of flavor, not too salty, and fresh tasting meat. The pasta was perfectly al dente (although again, no hole in the center). Service was good: our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Everything was really good except for my entree (my luck, lol). The Beachwood location has nice booths that are open to air on one side, so I would love to go back and have a drink there. The service was quick and our waiter was nice. My friend and I were seated at a 5 person table for just the two of us, which was kind of strange. The food was nothing to write home about. I liked that my lemon chicken pasta came with a lot of veggies but my friend's spicy vodka pasta was pretty bland and not spicy. My first time there and you could have blown me over with a feather. Bar Italia food is awesome. I took a chance and ordered a pesto meal. The reason I said that I took a chance was because I've eaten pesto meals at two different Italian restaurants and they were both horrible. I got my meal here and when I took my first bite, I knew this place got it right. It was delicious. My friend got chicken Parmesan and she is a very picky eater. She's always pushing the food around on her plate while she decides if she should take a bite. She scarfed it down after HER first bite. Will be in town again Jan 8 and can't wait to go back! This was a different restaurant before (Lindy's Lake House) from what I can tell, the only thing that changed was the name of the place. From what I can tell, nothing much was done to the interior. As far as the food - I would put this in below average to average Italian. Nothing memorable on the menu. Everything was okay or below ok. We tried few things on the menu: Bread with whipped Ricotta (okay, Ricotta was very bland and tasted like a whipped cream cheese/butter, we didn't finish the third of the dish), Zucchini fritters (average), Buca Bolo (okay), Branzino (below average), Chicken Pesto (okay). From the desserts, we wanted to try tiramisu but they don't make it in house (which is pretty suprising for the Italian restaurant) so we went for Spumoni trio, which is served as a far - while on a surface it seems like a good idea, once it starts melting, it turns into one big blob and flavors starts to mix together to the point that you don't know which flavor you are eating. Some people might say it is too loud or too dark but we loved the hustle and bustle of this jam packed restaurant on a Saturday night. We had a wonderful seat by the open kitchen and a great waiter. We split two dinners...the Margherita pizza and the bucatini with pesto and chicken. The pasta dish was what dreams are made of!
