We arrived after what might be the dinner rush, after 7pm. We were greeted very pleasantly by Chris, who also was our server. We opted for the arancini and the hungarian stuffed peppers for apps. Arancini was outstanding. The peppers were also delicious but spicy hot. I knew they were yummy because despite my lips being on fire I kept going back for another bite! For the mains I had the meatball grinder (very very good meatballs) with house made potato chips (so thin! So light! So crispy!) and my husband got the stromboli. He liked the meatball and sausage filling. Because I cannot pass up dessert, and because these are also house made, we ordered cannoli (3 to an order). Do not sleep on the cannoli, folks. The dining area was smaller than I expected it to be, but the place was pretty full. The food was incredible and the drinks were mixed very well. Tried for the first time recently after telling ourselves for years to give this place a try - we both enjoyed our entrees (both had pasta dishes) and decided they were good enough to return someday to try other things we saw on the menu - service was good - waitress was polite but what was a bit of a turn off was that the TALKED WAY TOO LOUD .. Local spot with a good atmosphere. Was recommended by the staff that the pizzas were the favorites and that their nonas lasagna was home made by their very own nona. The gnocchi was hand made as well by the family. I wanted to try the brisket that was paired with a type of mashed banana purée that ended up being pretty tasty. Brisket was tender but the plate in whole was missing something. I was overall impressed by the unique menu, the quality of the food, and the local environment. I wanted to try a different pizza delivery and got a large Abo's pizza. It's smaller than the large I'm used to from Marcos but still looked good. It's just ok - the crust is SUPER salty??? Why? Ruined the pizza and I'll be lucky if I don't have a heart attack from all the salt. read more

Dinner 8/10/24. Dinner was very bland. Ordered veal parm & chicken parm was brought out. Admitted the error & server took it back, the veal parm was brought out not 5 min later. It was overdone & too crispy. The spaghetti sauce was not good at all. Advised server but did not seem to care. Had lunch there a while back which was pretty good. I cannot heap enough praise unto this amazing family owned establishment that embodies quality and customer appreciation. The interior is dimly lit and features booth seating and a u shaped bar. All of the food is cooked to order and is delicious. I ordered a custom dish - spaghetti with mushrooms - which came with complementary bread. I also opted for a side salad consisting of mixed greens, tomatoes, and grated cheese. The bread was fresh baked and just out of the oven. It paired quite well with butter or olive oil and balsamic. The spaghetti was spectacular and had just the right amount of sauce, which was rich and savory to the tenth degree. Toward the end of our meal the owner - an amiable Italian gentleman - stopped over at our table to inquire as to our experience and the food. The service was ok but it stops there! My daughter & I try to have a nice lunch at least monthly. At today's prices it's a treat!! We generally have excellent meals & service & a quiet place to catch up. Today's meal at Abo's was literally the worst I've had anywhere. Now Monday isn't a great dining day but if you are going to be open do yourself proud!! cwas obvious that our food had been prepped & frozen possibly days earlier. Ordered an XL Italian Meatball pizza yesterday - Requested it crispy. It was really, really good. We have tried several different non-chain restaurants in the area for pizza (not sure why this place never was a thought) but honestly, this was a huge surprise to us. I did throw some slices in the air fryer to make it super crispy (almost burnt) but the flavor of this pizza exceeded my expectations! Can't wait to have another pie after Thanksgiving! read more

I have been going to Abo's every month or two since moving to the neighborhood 2 years ago. They have quality Italian food and also participate in the Lyndhurst homedays. Everything they make tastes homemade. The space is a large brick building with a full bar and spacious patio in the back. It has a dedicated takeout area with its own parking. We especially enjoy the arancini and the ricotta gnocchi. The pizza is thinner and crisps up well, so I never had an undercooked pie here. The ingredients are always fresh, the peperoni has some kick and the crust might be my favorite part. I highly recommend getting dessert. The oreo cheesecake or cannolis are my favorite. Next time you are looking for pizza, pasta, or any classic Italian fare, make sure to give Abo's a try. read more

Abo's was only going to get the three stars, but the desserts pushed it right to four **** Companions had: Chicken Parm, Pesto pasta dish, Eggplant Parm [which I tried - crispy and good] - I had the lasagna - good but not great. The shortcomings: arranchini was frozen in the middle - we told them and got a complimentary meatball. I asked for more bread - "I'll see if can" .... a spaghetti house without reasonable unlimited bread is odd ...In fact I would have paid for more [it was that good] - the request was answered in an odd way - not a deal breaker for me because we got more bread. Now, the desserts; we got fried dough - which is like a bunch of little ones, like zeppoli's - they were fantastic. Cannolli - was the best I've ever had - not too much chocolate chips and the shell was fresh as hell [crispy and divine]. Local joint with good food - I would go again tomorrow. read more

Hidden gem! First, Abo's grill has a great interior design, comfy booth and great lighting. The house wine is only $5 a glass, and the Arancini appetizer stole the show! I've been to Abo's a handful of times and I wish I liked it. I've tried multiple pasta dishes, pizza, appetizers, and desserts. I haven't tried one thing that I've wanted to finish. The arancini wasn't bad today. I don't have anything productive to say unfortunately. The food just isn't good. The service is friendly enough and the space is clean. What gets me every time - the cannoli shells are wanton wrappers with some cinnamon sprinkled on. We go because my partner and his friend have a weird emotional connection to the place. I'll go to make him happy, but I'm running out of things I'm willing to try on the menu. read more

I'm editing my review since I was here last. After being her on dec 8 I left 5 stars because the quality and the service was excellent. It took me nearly 8 more days to get food again because abos closed early on non holiday days. I came on a Saturday to get food at 9:55 and the guy said they were locking up even though they are listed as being open till 2:30am. I got takeout and the first takeout I was told it would be 20-25 min and I arrived exactly 20min from my house on my way to work. When I got my food I realized chicken was an add on (we weren't told this the first time we were here) but there were noodles that were clumped together that looked like they hadn't been separated while they were boiling. I had asked for new pasta and I was told it would be 10-15min. By the time my food was done I had to eat it on the way to work because I no longer had time to sit and eat. The pasta was extremely chewey this time ( like not cooked all the way) and the portion also seemed smaller and didn't have much sauce. I emailed the store to see if I could have anything done and haven't heard back since. I updated my review with photos since Dec. 8th the last photo is the takeout in the tin read more

The pizzas looked good, but I didn't have one. But what I did have is Alfredo sauce that was not alfredo sauce, he told me he just made it fresh with a bechamel which is no more than flour and oil instead of heavy cream and cheese and butter. We also had the lobster mac and cheese which was not lobster mac and cheese it was orzo, you use for Soups very tiny bird beaks. And a product called rock shrimp which is definitely not Lobster more closely related to a crawfish or Mud Bug read more

I ordered the Shrimp Linguine which was supposed to have a garlic wine sauce with parm cheese on top. I didn't taste any of that. The linguine was simply oily and tasteless.
