This location is crowded and I find a lot of times, things are out of stock. Or they simply don't have the same abundance of selections as other locations. There's times I can pick things up at the Scarborough/ Markham locations that I can't even find here (fruits, specials, clothing, etc). The staff here also aren't really quite as friendly. Few times we've had to interact with a cashier, they seemed a bit annoyed. They were giving us "teenage daughter" vibes.... you know when they roll their eyes and chew their gum and can't be bothered to make eye contact when telling you your total. We prefer self check out anyway so we just avoid interaction if we can. That's not to say ALL staff are like that. Just the ones we have unluckily had to deal with. The wait at the pharmacy is kinda long. Given the cost is better than at your regular pharmacy, I do think it's worth waiting if you're not covered by insurance.

However, being the pizza lunch coordinator at my daughter's school for the last few years, I've made bi-weekly trips to this location to pick up pizza lunch snacks and I must say, I still don't like shopping at Costco. There are many saving graces like the cheap food court eats and random scores of fantastic quality clothing I wasn't looking for. I am unsure if Costco is really worth it for a small family like mine without a freezer. This location is always busy, like all the other Costco locations, but does offer ample parking.

Only minor complaint is I wish the pepperonis were evenly spaced. I don't like seeing empty, uneven spaces on my pizzas! Highly recommend this pizza at this location! I saw through Instagram that an item I wanted was being sold for 50% less than the price online. This was enough to make hubby and I make the trek out to North Oshawa. The layout is similar to most other Costcos. This warehouse felt less busy, and the parking lot layout less chaotic, which improved our shopping experience. They have self checkout stations. The staff were friendly, pretty helpful, and efficient with checkout. The samples we had were decently sized. Washrooms were clean. They have a decently sized garden centre, as well as a gas station.

This was the first time at a Costco Business Centre. The experience is a stripped down version of…read morethe Costco experience, it is all in all tailored the the business owners. There are no samples, no/limited freshly prepared food or bakery, limited electronics/jewelry, no Kirkland clothing/shoes/books, and no/limited personal care items. On the plus side, there are even more bulk items available that isn't in regular Costco, some items have incredibly good price per unit, bulk flour for example has different grades and brands, the the meat locker is massive and very cold. Furthermore, there are unique appliances and cookware in this location not found elsewhere, like the industrial dough mixers, entire buffet heat tables, bakery racks, etc. The parking situation is also far more tame since there isn't much of a destination feel to this location. They do have a food court though. It was overall an interesting experience, I have noted some bulk items to be extremely well priced here, but while Costco is a once every 2-4 week visit, this would be a once a 6-12 months visit for a non-business owner. Every Costco-er should check it out at least once!

Three years ago I bought a bag of lemons that went mouldy with 2 days so I don't buy fresh produce from GT anymore. I go there in early spring because they have cheap summer tee shirts and shorts in a large selection of pretty colours. I also like buying sleep wear at GT. One thing that I found peculiar was that their washrooms are now unisex which IMO isn't safe for women and children. Also the last time I was there 3 years ago the lock on one of the stalls was broken, and guess what? Three years later it's still not fixed. The employees seem sullen and unfriendly. There was a line at checkout and the cashier was rude. My guess is that GT employees are paid minimum wage and not very well traine, if at all trained. They certainly have zero customer service skills.

I have been driving up to Stouffville to shop at that Giant Tiger on Wednesdays. Two Wednesdays ago, my plans deviated and I needed a Giant Tiger in Scarborough. It has two locations and both are roughly the same distance away from my home. I had never been to this one on Kennedy Road and decided to venture over here. It's dark these days at around 5:45 pm. This store is so bright at night that you can't miss its yellow glow. I pulled into the plaza to find parking. There's immediate parking in front of the store, but not a whole lot. I did manage to nab the last parking spot. Otherwise, you simply need to park further away from the main doors. What's deadly about this location is that it's next to a Hakka restaurant. Yes, I must visit it soon. This store is the largest Giant Tiger that I have ever been to. My guess is that it was a giant grocery store in the past before it became GT. I loved all the merchandise lined up between the first and second sets of doors. The prices are great. I go through a lot of celery by pulverizing stalks in my Vitamix to make smoothies. Giant Tiger has the cheapest price on celery that I have seen and it's fresh! The price fluctuates between $1.47 and $2.47, depending on the season. I also get avocados for said smoothies, which makes them creamy. I can get a bag of six avocados for $2.88. A hand of bananas is also cheap at $1.64. The quality is excellent. This store does not have arrows on the floor to help folks physically distance from one another. Then again, it's such a large store that you do feel safe without the arrows. There's more merchandise at this store. I spent what felt like an eternity browsing. I dig the selection. There was a bit of a lineup at the checkout area when I was ready to pay. However, there were three staff members working that night and it moved quickly. The woman who helped cash me out wasn't all that friendly, though. I like my regular store in Stouffville and the other GT in Scarborough because staff members are nice and friendly. They seem to care that your store experience is good. I didn't get that vibe here. At the checkout area, they were more interested in chatting amongst themselves. It was different. Despite the lack of warmth, I do like this store. It's spacious and not as busy compared to other Costcos. Samples are better. Staff are extremely friendly. Great deals on quality products. Your pantry and freezer will never be empty. Costco gas is cheaper and higher quality. Not watered down. Your car will thank you! Worth the trip to Newmarket. Especially on a weekday.
