My Mom flew in from LA tonight and wanted Italian. I have eaten at Giuseppe's years ago and thought, it was good in the past lets try jrt again. We were greeted by a woman who didn't know where to seat us and stood around confused, the waitress told her to push two tables together in the other room. She did, the floor underneath was (dirty). That was a little distracting. We sat for quite awhile with no interaction from our waitress. If you have been here, there are maybe 10 tables in the whole place and 4 were occupied. When she finally did come she asked if we were waiting for another person. She didn't ask to take a drink order or anything. I had to stop her from walking away and say " we all know what we want and I have the persons order that we are waiting on" Food came, chicken fettuccini Alfredo....three order of that and everyone's chicken was soooo dry! Waitress never came back to check on us so we couldn't tell her. My mom ordered spaghetti with meat sauce - the meat was to be sausage, it came on a separate plate for some reason and then came with meatballs too....OY Service, not good. I feel so special to live so close to such a great dining spot! I love supporting local restaurants and so glad I didn't have to go far to enjoy some good Italian food! It's not fancy, don't feel pressured to get dressy. The salads are amazing! I ended up eating my brother in laws along with mine. Super fresh and the house dressing is addicting! Of course there's bread and oil...but don't get full off these! The main courses are plentiful in portions and they are so tasty! We had the chicken Parmesan and the gnocchi meal. We definitely had leftovers that tasted great the next day for lunch! Don't get caught up with location, it's a little bit in the cut and in a shopping center. Ummm... not good. New York native here and this is on my top worst Italian food places in multiple states. First time we had takeout it wasn't soo horrible, it was some angel hair pasta dish. Tiramisu was decent. BUT Last time (and will be the last time) I ordered, I got baked ziti. How do you mess that up? It's rigatoni with mozzarella and ricotta cheese, sometimes with meat and sometimes not. So I order it with meatballs. What do I get? Insanely over cooked rigatoni (pasta fell apart soon as I picked it up) with a glob of mozzarella in the middle of it, with three tiny Swedish meatball looking monstrosities plopped on top. No sauce on them. Tons of gross over salted red "sauce" that tasted like runny stuff that'd come out of a can on the pasta only. Think chef boyardi or something 30 years old from a survival bomb shelter. I took one bite and called the restaurant and asked for a refund. That's how bad it was. Then I had to eat their bread for dinner(which was decent) - FAIL! Two stars for their bread and the fact that the manager refunded me. That was nice. read more

Had a great time at Giuseppe's. Kim, our waitress, was a gem. Seriously, she deserves a raise. Anticipated all our needs, attentive without being overbearing, and just all around friendly and kind. Food was good. Bread was hot and delicious. We had the fettuccine, frutti di mare, bolognese, and sausage de sicilia. All were good. First off, let me say I have NEVER in my entire life just walked out of a restaurant....until today. We were seated immediately (yay!) because the place was not busy....three or four tables of people. After being seated we were brought water....and then NOTHING. We waiting for 15 or more minutes and we were never again acknowledged. Now I understand if they were busy maybe waiting that long but THEY WERE NOT BUSY. Simply.The.Worst.Service.Ever. Food took a long time to come (group of 5), with parties seated after we ordered receiving their food before ours. Meatballs on spaghetti were cold and when asked waitress to heat them up she at first said no, they were fine, then finally took them and brought them back rudely saying they were so hot the cook burned his hands on them. Right! When she brought the bill it was on a "Gladly Accept American Express" tray. So we tried to pay w/AmEx. She brought it back saying they don't accept it. My father, who is in food industry suggested they cover up that notice on their tray then, and she started lecturing him on how they were a small restaurant and couldn't afford new stuff, they had to get cheap stuff wherever they could. Then she said " I suppose I could have done this" and THREW his card on the table! As we were leaving she started yelling at us that she felt abused by us because she didn't control how long it took to make the food (we asked once, politely and quietly if she could check on our meals) and said if we had ever been to Europe we would understand that meals take longer there. (Actually, I have traveled extensively in Europe, and our concern was not the length of time, but that every one else's meals were coming and going much faster. I could not possibly drag any of our party back to this dump if the food was free. Nothing justifies a waitress shrieking at you. The place is owned by a Lebanese gentleman related to the owner of Stephano's in Burnsville. That heritage is reflected in spicier dishes than you would expect for authentic Italian. read more

The is one of the best Italian restaurant's I have been to in a long time. The bread and dipping oil is awesome, warm and fresh bread! I had the Capellini pomodoro with 1/2 shrimp and 1/2 sausage. I love angel hair pasta first of all and the protein was excellent. The portion was large enough for me that I had another meal for lunch. The server Kim was great and accommodating. First time here last night with my 10 year old son. Took at least 5-10 minutes to get menus and water. The place wasn't even busy. Ordered capellini and was kinda bland needs garlic. Had 3 cubes of feta cheese on top. Real odd and bad taste. The bread was good and waitress gave us an extra basket. My son ordered pasta bolongaise and was drowning in sauce. He liked it. Ordered tirimisu. Just ok.Tasted frozen. The food was just ok. My review is the service was bad. Not personable waitresses, took forever to get food boxed up, refills of water and to take the bill. The decor was hideous. The ceiling was water stained and people wrote on the bricks. Perhaps the worst Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at. This restaurant was so poor it finally prompted me to start reviewing places on Yelp. I attempted to eat Capellini Pomodoro. The chicken was dry and unseemly looking. I couldn't eat more than one piece it. The tomatoes were a dull orange. I had to spit out two artichokes because they weren't tender. I ate the over buttered pasta, but even that wasn't very good. My dining partner had the Beef Bourguignon and was unable to eat the gnocchi because it tasted so poorly. Neither dish looked appealing. The waitress didn't seem to care that we weren't really eating our meals. I will not go back. read more

The calamari is not your typical deep fried kind so be warned, my waitress failed to let me know prior but did want to make the comment after it arrived that "oh yeah many people make that mistake". I've got to say, I don't know what happened, but this place has taken a turn for the worst both in service and food quality. Been here before about a year ago and had a great time, but my latest visit was probably my worst dining experience ever. While we were seated quickly and water/bread brought to us the server herself had no manners - she showed up, asked us what we wanted, and didn't offer any specials or suggestions. Hell, she didn't even give us her name - that's serving 101. The food came out quickly - almost too quickly for good Italian food, so I'm beginning to question if was even cooked fresh. I had ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese - all I can say is stay away. It was drowning in alfredo sauce - the lobster was overcooked and rubbery - and it had the consistency of clam chowder. A soup would have been a better description. It was impossible to eat without spilling on yourself. When I finally gave up trying to eat it there was 3/4 of it left - the server didn't ask if everything was OK...she just asked if we wanted to box it. Frankly, nobody cared if we had a good meal - there was no manager on duty, and the host didn't ask either....there was no opportunity to really complain to anyone. My advice would be to just go to the Olive Garden rather then stopping here. While the bread might be awesome, it doesn't make up for everything else. read more

Looking for the type of place you would find in Europe ... Italy or France? This is one that has OUTSTANDING food and great service. The prices are VERY reasonable, as well. They've been there since just early 2008, but they have an ever-growing clientele who come back because of its' value and food. Not a big place at all - probably 20 tables now that they've redesigned. Very clean. Nondescript on the outside, but it is a nice surprise inside with that neighborhood sort of feel. I was looking for great Italian food in the Burnsville area and tried a few different duds but then found this place on Yelp and it had great reviews. Starting with the garlic bread, amazing! Served with olive oil and spices but we also order a side of Alfredo to dip in. The meals were very good, well portioned, and had a very authentic taste. This Italian restaurant has a charming feel and an overall decent cleanliness. There were not many people there on a Friday night and it was uncommonly quiet. I heard no background music until the end of the night. Speaking at a normal conversational level felt uncomfortable. I went in with a group of four and was provided with water. Upon arrival of the entire group, we were served soft bread with oil and seasoning. It was quite good. After ordering, we waited approximately 30 minutes for our food to come out. Each plate arrived at a different time. The food was hot upon arrival and the portions were fairly large. Overall the pasta that I ordered, the Chicken and Sausage, was good. I was not overcome with any overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. I've been to Giuseppe's on several occasions now. The service is hit and miss, but has never been 'bad'. It's the food that has earned Giuseppe's a five star rating. I highly recommend the chicken and sausage over penne dish to anyone non-vegan that likes food. Be warned, though, that you won't be able to stop eating it and will devour the enormous portion. I paired it with a chianti that was quite good. For the price and considering that it's in a suburban strip mall, you can't go wrong with Giuseppe's if you like pasta. read more

We had the chance to go to Giuseppe's TWICE this past week because the first trip was so good that we chose to return the second day for another lunch. The first trip, I ordered their steak sandwich (steak, peppers, onions, all sauteed and on homemade bread along with cheese and I'm not sure what else but it's wonderful), and my lunch partner decided to have the same. We had the house salad, also, and iced tea. It was excellent. Messy, but excellent. The second day, I had Beef Bourguignon, and my 2 friends had the capellini and the steak sandwich. We all sampled each others' meals and we were all very happy with our choices! The portions are very ample and I ended up taking home at least half of my meal for my husband to finish. We talked with our waiter a bit and found out that the owner and he are brothers. The restaurant is named after the owner's son (awwww...I love that). They both are brothers with Stephano (Stephano's is also located in Burnsville). They are of Lebanese and Italian descent (father and mother respectively) and the owner was brought to this country by a very well-known upscale restaurant in Minneapolis to be the Head Chef. After 5 years he decided to open his own restaurant, Giuseppe's. The waiter is very proud of the food (as he should be) and is very personable. He brought us a taste of his (or maybe the owner's) sangria - they make it themselves. WONDERFUL stuff, I don't know if you can buy it or not, but if you can, be sure to give it a try. The decor is very "garage sale"-like, but I am guessing that the money goes into fresh ingredients instead. A wise choice, and I will definitely be going to Giuseppe's often. read more

What a jewel in the rock! The restaurant greatly exceeded my expectations. Located in a small strip mall, this tiny Italian restaurant is a must stop! Greeted with a friendly hostess and seated within minutes made for a pleasant start to my dining experience. Shortly after being seated a server brought an overflowing basket of fresh bread. ...and I mean fresh bread right out of the oven. I noticed that the bread was continually filled when other tables ran out...I tried but failed in finishing my basket. The menu contained less than a dozen main meals but that has worked for them for years I was told by the waitress and why mess with a good thing. I decided on the Sausage De Sicilia. Wow! The Italian sausage was hot and the meat sauce had great taste. The service was great from seating to meal. If you love true Italian this will quickly be added to you favorites list. As for the portion size, one meal could easily feed two or make a second meal with the leftovers. The restaurant is small and probably could be filled at some times but the food is worth the wait! read more

I have to give these guys five stars. Not because they're the best place I've ever been to, but because they're able to 100% rekindle the phrase: "You can't judge a book by its cover". Anyone who's been by here knows what I'm referring to. On the outside, you see (like so many small restaurants) a dingy old strip mall. But the experience you will have upon visiting will blow you out of the water. I will say I pondered subtracting one star, because this is a place NOT suitable for children, especially small children. But it doesn't seem fair to hold that against them. This is a romantic, cozy little space, PERFECT for a date or a group of four. A very intimate setting, I thought. Before ordering, your server will deliver a plate of warm bread slices with what appears to be a housemade oil mixture for dipping. It. Was. Fabulous. The menu is small, but not too small. For pizza & flatbread lovers, I'm afraid you're out of luck. I, on the other hand, appreciate a small menu...because I feel like it leaves LESS room for the frustration in trying to make a decision, and MORE room to for love and attention to each dish. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my boyfriend ordered the classic spaghetti and meatballs...both were delicious. Creamy, large portions, packed with flavor. Can't ask for much more than that. Best of all, the prices were SO reasonable. This place is a hidden gem (likely not for long) where you really get the bang for your buck. Had a very unfortunate experience for our Christmas Eve this year. We tried ordering Delivery from Giusseppe's through DoorDash tonight and after our order was confirmed by the restaurant I received a call from the manager informing me they were out of the Caesar salad for the night. Mind you, I am a restaurant manager as well and have been for quite some time so I know these things come about and I understood the situation. After finally being able to get a sentence out after being so rudely interrupted repeatedly I asked the manager to please just cancel my order all together. I would have cancelled it on my end but because the order was confirmed the order was technically "being prepared by the kitchen" so I wouldn't be able to get my full refund back. Mr. Z Wang the manager then informed me he didn't know how to cancel the order which I then explained to him I could walk him through the process because I too am a restaurant manager and I've gone through the same situations before. The man refused to listen, he tried finding every excuse in the book and hung up on me not once but THREE times refusing to refund me telling me DoorDash was closed when he clearly wasn't even attempting to contact them but would try to cover it up by selling me a Tiramisu. After spending $45 on food that I was never going to receive and repeatedly being hung up on I decided to go into the restaurant so I could walk Mr. Wang through the cancellation process. When I arrived I walked into the restaurant to hear them all the way from their back kitchen mocking me calling me vulgar names making fun of the entire situation. They were so loud and caught up in their conversation I was able to walk to the front counter, sit down and record their entire conversation start to finish. This is when Mr. Wang comes out and invites his two kitchen staff to be a part of the situation when they have no business being there in the first place. Both kitchen staff continued to call me "bat sh** crazy" and called me a b**ch while I was trying to have a conversation with ONLY the manager. It's unfortunate to have been going to this restaurant with my friends and family for years to now be writing a review that doesn't even deserve 1 star. Please bring back the old owner and his family, they would have never allowed this type of service. The manager working was Mr. Z Wang (or at least that's what he told me his name was) and the 2 staff were a middle aged shorter blonde Caucasian woman and the (I believe) dishwasher who was a younger tall African American man. None were wearing masks or gloves in the kitchen and probably won't be held accountable for any their actions because Mr. Wang clearly doesn't know how to manage and little do they know I pretended to walk out and again was able to record their mockery of me after they went to the back.
