This place has some of the best Italian food in the St.Louis area. It's not just another Italian restaurant, it is a refreshing take on the cuisine in general. The service is prompt and helpful, the portions are generous and it is very inviting and comfortable in the dining area. Everything seemed fresh and prepped on the day it is served and the wonderful tastes of everything we have tried so far is superior to many other restaurants. I am not including any chain store, fast food or literally not-even-Italian places like.. well, I think you know which ones I mean. My husband and I recently popped in for lunch. Both our entrees were hot, fresh and full of flavor. The food is authentic and made with good quality ingredients. Portions were well sized. Service was friendly and fast. There is a good amount of seating and the place is clean and well lit. Cute sign from the original restaurant is inside on the wall which is cool and adds nostalgia. Giuseppe's is an easy place to visit if close to I-70 or driving along I-44 in and around the Saint Louis metro area. It is the newer lunch and catering wing of a long standing Giuseppe's with roots in the city proper. This location has pushed over into the next tenant space, making for a more generous dining room with good natural lighting in which to eat a hearty lunch. The original part remains and French doors take you into this larger eating area. They have done some rearranging with the lunch specials. In the short time in this area, I was able to try the Monday lunch special, which was lasagna. Thus, lunch consisted of lasagna, a St. Louis salad (chosen from among three offered), and a refillable soft drink. The lasagna made for a robust and tasty lunch, but, like most Italian-American lasagnas, the pasta has the thicker layers and there is perhaps too much sauce for my taste. I came back the following day to try the chicken brochettes which sounded delicious based on how they described them to me. I didn't get there in time and they had sold out of this lunch special choice. In all fairness, they told me to call ahead so they can set an order of it aside. Giuseppe's off the interstate in Fenton is still a solid lunch choice and a good value. You can see which days of the week interest you the most. (Gosh darn, that Friday white fish special with au gratin potatoes they once had was something I still dream about.) Also, the employees are cordial, the expanded location is a pleasant space in which to eat lunch, there is plenty of parking right in front, and it's squeaky clean. read more

Discovered this darling gem following a visit to the Fenton industrial park area thanks to their sandwich boards on street corner. It's a storefront in a nondescript strip mall but the inside is pretty cute. Counter service to place your order & they bring it to your table. Portions are so large they serve it in lidded to go containers so you can take some home! The penne siciliano was delicious and frankly better & more flavorful & quality than the dinner I had on The Hill last night. Pink sauce with sausage & huge great mushrooms & fresh basil on top! Friendly service from Debbie (counter & table server). The owner, Eric, was working away, too. This restaurant was in south city on Grand at Meramec since since 1927 until 3 years ago. Made it through the pandemic & opened the adjacent bay for additional seating! They still have regular customers from the original location that drive 17miles west to dine or carryout; they offer large catering and family size dinners, as well. Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. I had been wanting to go here because my family ate at Giuseppe's on S. Grand often during my childhood. I ordered the Giuseppe's Salad and the Cavatelli con Broccoli. They serve everything in to go containers and have plastic forks, knives, etc. My salad came out immediately and it was just lettuce, 1 olive, 1 pepperoncini, 3 pieces tomato, onion, and dressing but they definitely nailed the Giuseppe's taste there. The Cavetelli con Broccoli came out maybe 2 minutes after the salad. I could see through the lid that the sauce was very thin. I ate maybe ¼ of the pasta and called it a day. Unfortunately it did not have any flavor. There was no salt, pepper, or garlic and the sauce didn't reduce enough to make it creamy and coat the noodles. The broccoli was a little under as well. I'd probably return if someone else wanted to go here. Bummer they don't have the veal cutlet. read more

The food is delicious, the atmosphere is standard, and the service is excellent. We tried several sandwiches, the pizza, and the chicken modiga is good with a lemony cheese sauce over chicken. The only thing I didn't like is the BBQ sauce on the BBQ chicken pizza. Everything else we tried has been delicious. read more

We've driven past here countless times and today had the opportunity to have lunch. It's a store front in a small strip, clean and nicely decorated inside, with 3-4 umbrella tables outside. The counter staff were very kind and offered recommendations. I had the chicken spedini with salad. I didn't realize it also came with a generous bowl of spaghetti and red sauce. I'm Italian and most Italians will tell you, "We never eat sauce out (meaning tomato sauce), so I took it home for the kiddo. My husband selected the chicken parmigiana which also included pasta and we both had salad. Our entrees and the broccoli that accompanied them were delicious. The quantity of food was too much for me, but the hubby loved it as he was ravenous by the time we stopped. The salads were tasty, though the cheese we added came in fairly large sticks - not bad, just oddly proportioned. Everything tasted good, but we were a bit shocked by the prices. While the counter staff were very nice, she didn't indicate how much of an up charge there was for a small side salad. We'd expected close to $20/each and ended up with a bill of almost $60. We won't pay that much for lunch again anytime soon, though we would consider them for catering because the food was very tasty and the catering prices weren't terrible, thus the 4-stars. Giuseppe's is located in I-44 Retail Plaza right after the Phillips 66 gas station off South Highway Drive. Watch your landmarks as South Highway Drive is one way and you can't turn around if you pass it up. It's a small restaurant tucked back in a huge plaza. I got the lasagna lunch box to go two times. Giuseppe's serves meatless cheese lasagna that includes a vegetable, salad and bread. I loved the Italian meat sauce that completely covered the lasagna. In addition, I like the way the vegetables are prepared since they aren't mushy and have a slight crunch. The first time I had green beans. The next time they served Brussels sprouts with sweet potatoes. The vegetable side was a little sweet, but I still liked it. The lids are a little tight on the salad container and the parmesan flew out everywhere when I snapped the lid off trying to get it open. Even so, I really enjoyed the Caesar Salad I ordered and still had some parmesan left. The second time I was more careful to hold the bottom container down. This time I tried the St. Louis salad. The artichokes, thinly sliced onion, parmesan, and vinaigrette salad dressing were very flavorful. While the salads I ordered came in a smaller compact container, it completely filled my much larger dinner salad bowl. I returned to Giuseppe's on white fish Friday. Previously, a few weeks earlier I tried ordering the fish after 1:00and they were sold old. Today I was in luck. By the time I got home, the fish was no longer hot. The restaurant worker told me next time to microwave it 25 seconds. I improved the taste by squirting fresh lemon on it The eggplant moussaka side dish felt like the main entree for me, with the white fish being average. I relished the eggplant moussaka side dish which included ground beef, tomato sauce, parmesan, spices and cheese. I would buy the fish, just for the side dish. Giuseppe's told me you can't order the Greek moussaka ala carte. Both meals were very filling and I could hardly eat anything the rest of the day. Considering the huge portions, the price is very reasonable. The staff was prompt and friendly. I was in and out within minutes.
