After hearing so many people talk about Giuseppe's Pasta Posto, it was finally time to give it a try. The first thing that stood out was the bread service with the selection of olive oils and vinegars. Simple, but a great way to start the meal. The Carbonara was rich, creamy, and exactly the kind of pasta I'd come back for again. The real surprise was the Bavetta. The smoky char and flavor on that steak were incredible and easily one of the best bites of the night. Dessert was equally enjoyable, and honestly that's what impressed me most about the experience, there wasn't a single dish that missed. Every course was well executed, and everything that came to the table felt intentional. Well Well Well, Back again for another amazing culinary experience at Giuseppe's Pasta Posto, This place is simply the best, from David our amazing waiter to the host, to John and his amazing wife cooking it up in the kitchen. Absolutely fantastic, i have been eating here over and over and over again trying to find a single thing to complain about just so i can say they are human capable of mistakes !!!! You know what 10 + trips to this little slice of Italy and i can't find a single thing bad to talk about. So i thought i would add something thoughtful that i have added to the menu it's called "Cowboy Affogatomisu" it requires you to Order two deserts but is well worth it, i promise. Here are the instructions: Take the lid off their world famous Tiramisu, take the ice cream scoop from the Affogato place it on top of the Tiramisu and pour 1/4 of the espresso over it, and walla you have just eaten the best desert not on the menu!!!! A wonderful restaurant!! We were visiting the area, looking for a nice dinner and stumbled upon this restaurant. I am so glad we did! The restaurant itself wad very cute, it gave nice homey vibes. Now the food. Wow. We ordered the gnocchi which was paired with a sage cream sauce. The gnocchi melts in your mouth, and the sage cream sauce complimented it so well. We spent the whole dinner raving about this dish. We also ordered the bruschetta which was also lovely. Everything is homemade from scratch, and you can tell. The waitress was so nice, and very knowledgeable about dishes and wine. All of the staff were lovely and seemed passionate about the food and service. Cannot recommend enough!! read more

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but they fell short in a couple areas. But first, the good. It had the feel of old World Italy with its rustic floors, bar and elegant table settings, it was beautiful. The hostess and server were very kind and helpful, although it did take awhile for our server to first approach our table. Our server selected a great wine for us based on my wife's described taste, and gave feedback on our selections. I ordered the Sea Bass, my wife the Vodka linguini type noodle. All noodles are hand made in the restaurant, so that sounded promising. While waiting, one thing the server or hostess failed to do was to check our waters. My wife who was thirsty and needed water with her wine, had to keep flagging down someone for water, and that was not an easy task. They were certainly busy, but my wife and I have both worked in the restaurant business and knew the importance of paying attention to tables even when slammed. The house made bread was yummy and came with oil and vinegar. We loved how it came in a paper bag with the edges rolled down. It was quite enjoyable. Now the food: the sea bass and everything on my plate was absolutely amazing. It was perfection. The veggie on top and the, whatever it was it sat on, seemed like blended polenta, but whatever it was, it was awesome and went so well with my fish. The fish fell part under my fork and had amazing flavor. My wife and I always share a bit of our dish with the other, so when she put the pasta on my plate I started in before she tasted hers. Yikes, it was so chewy it was almost not edible. I thought, " good thing my wife likes il dente. No, it was way too chewy for her as well. But the sauce tasted amazing to both of us. It just needed a good noodle. We voiced our complaint, and they said they would redo it. Second round was exactly the same. Now that's an arrogant chef. They didn't bother to do a thing different. My wife complained again and they were very good about taking it off our bill immediately. She couldn't eat it so had it sent back. The owner was nice enough to follow up and see if there was anything else she could offer, but my wife kindly declined. We expressed that she should try the noodles herself. She came back and said my wife was absolutely correct. We were happy to know that was not normal fare. The head chef was out that night, but the other chefs should be trained well enough that it wouldn't matter. They still earned 4 stars because they handled it so well and without hesitation. We really appreciate the server and owner trying their best. We'd like to come back another time when the head chef is in, since the pasta sauce was so delicious. My wife and I went for a quick date night in the weeks after it opened. Starting with the meatballs which are fantastically tender with just a mild bit of spice, the star of that dish is the red sauce. I would drink it. Next, we follow up with the salads. They were both creamy and had a mild salt presence from the cheese, pleasant in an unexpected way. The gnocchi, sweet savory I enjoyed it, the sauce was unique with the sweetness. The oxtail was so rich and actually caused a little bit of gastrointestinal distress the next day (that's my own fault), I should've stopped after sharing gnocchi, meatballs, and two salads. Three plates would have been sufficient for a table of two. And we finished with tiramisu which was of course amazing. Additionally, I found the atmosphere to be loud enough so conversations felt lively, but I didn't have a feeling that anyone had the ability to listen in on my conversations; which mostly came back to speculation about a 'trio' tucked away in the corner. Sitting in the far corner was a well dressed 60-something male joined by two notably younger attractive and scantily clad (particularly for Coeur d'Alene) females in skin tight low cut / sheer tops, all being very flirtatious touching one another while finishing two bottles of wine. The point being it's a great place for a date night, even if you plan to bring dates who may or may not be financially motivated or in a cash only business that charges by the evening. There was also a couple that said Grace and bowed their heads in prayer as every plate came out. So it really is a spot for everyone. read more

We visited Giuseppe's Pasta Posto on opening weekend, and in a word: phenomenal. This is exactly the Italian restaurant downtown Coeur d'Alene has been waiting for. Owner John Minichino, a longtime executive chef in the area, and his wife have clearly poured their passion into this quaint Italian dining experience and it shows in every detail, from the food to the execution. We started with the Polpette Siciliana, incredible handmade Sicilian meatballs that were rich, tender, and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the gnocchi for my main course and haven't had gnocchi this light, fluffy, and flavorful since being in Rome. My wife chose the bavette (grilled hanger steak), which absolutely melted in her mouth. Dessert was tiramisu, and it deserves special mention. Too often this dessert leans too heavy on one element, but this version was perfectly balanced between mascarpone cream, espresso, and ladyfingers. Giuseppe's Pasta Posto is destined to become one of the standout restaurants in downtown Coeur d'Alene. Highly recommend--and we'll definitely be back. read more

Was really excited to try this new Italian restaurant downtown. Thought we would have great service and food, but that wasn't the case. Don't get their meatballs. Tasted like frozen store bought meatballs. My brother ordered a glass of their cab, and he said it tasted like it was the end of a bottle that was sitting out for over a week. Their Carbonara pasta and Halibut was delicious except for the Cacio e Pepe pasta. It basically was just pasta with butter and pepper - no salt. Shocked that was listed as one of the main pasta dishes. To top that off our service was terrible. Our waiter told us he used to work back of house and he is only a few days in as a waiter. It became more clear. I'm shocked that they didn't have this waiter shadowed prior to him going solo. He had zero self awareness, talks very faint, and would tell us he would do something from clearing the plates & unused glasses, getting more bread & refills, but never did. He needs to pay more attention to what the customer is requesting. Also if it's your birthday expect no complimentary dessert or candle. We ordered the Tiramisu and he set the dessert down with one spoon for a table of three. When we asked for more spoons he looked confused as to why we would need more. I could go on, but i hope this restaurant & waiter succeeds. The manager/owner really needs to consider training their new waiters better as that can make or break the whole experience for the customer. read more

Arrived on time and were led through a lovely dinning room, but then we were seated in small windowless back room w cement floor next to the naturally very noisy, busy kitchen. Add loud, unpleasant music. Couldn't comfortably visit nor hear our waitress who begrudgingly served us. The $200 meal was hard to enjoy, despite food being very good. We decided to finally check out this new Italian restaurant that opened recently. Having traveled to Italy a few times and tasted authentic Italian cooking, we were anxious to see how this place compared. We were NOT disappointed! Every dish was fresh, tasty, and very well prepared. The pasta is obviously hand made, and was cooked to a perfect al dente. Unlike other Italian restaurants in the area that will not be named, the sauces were well crafted and not just poured out of a can. This restaurant, chef and staff get it...small menus with everything being able to be made to perfection instead of pages and pages of choices none of which with a prayer to be fresh. My only suggestion for the staff (and this is likely because they are just getting statted), is to separate each course...antipasti, primi and secondi should all arrive separately after the previous dish is finished. My wife and I had a reservation for a Tuesday afternoon, around 4-ish. When we arrived they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and we let them know it was our anniversary. It was a beautiful sunny, but cool afternoon, and there was only one other 2-top seated in the restaurant. It would have been great to sit near the windows to enjoy the views / people, or even on sit the patio out front. The hostess proceeded to walk us back to some windowless dungeon in the back; I think all the walls were painted darker green or blue. We had a perfect view of the restroom and the food window, and all of the servers activities. We immediately left. The complete lack of awareness or commons sense, combined with the terrible seating, prompted us to spend our money elsewhere. After we ate our dinner elsewhere, we walked past Giuseppe's 90 minutes later, and the restaurant was still half full. It wasn't like the place was full; when we made the reservation -- that day all 15 minute time slots were available (and it was a way early dinner), so I'm not sure why they'd treat any one like that. Maybe anniversary dinners are special cases and they intentionally put those people in the crappiest possible spot. read more

Was excited to try out Pasta Posto, so made a reservation for 6:30 PM. We showed up at 6:30 and were told no tables available for at least 30 minutes. Went down street to have a drink and were finally called for our table at 7:15. After being seated literally waited 10-12 minutes before anyone came to table. You would think after this service we would have been offered free appetizer or dessert but no acknowledgment at all. On positive side the ambience and food were very good, but really hard to overlook this level of service for 3 person meal that ended up being $240. read more

We went on opening night, which also happened to be New Year's Eve. We've been eagerly waiting for a higher-end Italian restaurant in Coeur d'Alene, so expectations were naturally high. The staff was friendly and clearly trying hard. You could tell they were new and still finding their rhythm, but the intent to take good care of guests was there, and that matters. That said, for a place branded as a pasta posto, the dinner menu was surprisingly limited. Only one small pasta dish was offered that night. The overall menu felt sparse, which may have been a deliberate move to keep things manageable for a new kitchen and service team, but it still felt underwhelming given the positioning. A few suggestions that could help turn this into a regular destination: Table setting: White tablecloths would go a long way. It sounds picky, but diners expect a certain level of formality at a finer Italian restaurant. Bread service: Salt, pepper, and oil & vinegar should arrive with the bread automatically, not upon request. Technology: The electronic ordering devices didn't help. Our food took over 30 minutes, only to learn the order never made it to the kitchen. Paper would've been faster. Entrées: The three dishes we ordered were good, but none really wowed us the way we hoped. Dessert: The mini jar desserts were cute, but too small to share. It would be great to see classic Italian desserts you can't already find around town--zabaglione, for example. There's real potential here. With a bit more confidence in the menu, smoother operations, and some classic touches, this could become a standout. We'll give it another shot once things settle in. read more

Our first dining experience and we'll be back. No pictures but my husband had the chicken dish and he ate every bit. I had the gnocchi's and they melted in my mouth, that spells homemade! Would like to have the option of enjoying a red sauce with the gnocchi's as the cream sauce is unfortunately hard in my stomach. The fault is my stomach not the sauce. We were welcomed with a glass of the house wine as our table wasn't ready yet. Staff was extremely kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend either making a reservation by stopping in or coming in early as the space can only accommodate so many tables. They don't have a phone number listed or an online reservation platform, but they do take reservations in person! Food at Pasta Posto is delicious and well presented. Had a wonderful experience at Giuseppe's Pasta Posto last night! The service was excellent. The staff was super friendly and efficient and it's only their fist week in business! The food was on point! I had the salmon and my friend had the gnocchi. Unbelievable mix of flavors! My husband and I were so excited to try this place. We made reservations a couple days before. When we arrived the first thing the hostess asked us is if we would be having wine. I thought it was strange, but later came to find out why. Though there were many tables available in the main room, we were thrown in the back room. This room only had two tables and is basically in the kitchen. The only other table was a large party of drunk obnoxious women. The food was subpar, service wasn't great and the owner stopped by every table but ours. We believe this was all due to us not wanting wine with our meal. To be treated that poorly all because you didn't feel like having wine is terrible customer service. Our hopes of an enjoyable night out with food that reminded me of my travels to Rome was sorely ruined. We will not be going back. read more
