This is hard. We made reservations and were given a table facing a cabinet with broken chairs.(cloth over wood is not comfortable) We asked for another table and we're told the restaurant was all reserved. Our server was disappointed we didn't order wine and was very pushy. We ordered two entrees ( at this point I wanted to leave, but didn't want to hurt my husbands intentions ) Dinner was quick and tasted fine. *baked spaghetti and chicken walnut spinach Rotolos. Side salads had grainy tomato slices. The entire 45 min we were there the dining room never filled. And our server was unhappy we didn't choose a desert after she presented a tray of plastic wrapped options. read more

I didn't take any photos, but I wanted to shout out Europa Restaurant and Bakery! My husband and I went there last night for our 12 year anniversary dinner and it was a 10 out of 10! We were seated immediately, our server was so funny and incredible, the food and drinks were delicious and I absolutely loved the entire vibe of the place! We left so full and satisfied. I got the sample platter with manicotti with meat sauce and fettuccine alfredo. And got the tomato soup. Tomato soup was lacking in flavor a little, was a bit too sour and mostly tasted like black pepper. The sample platter was delicious though. Both dishes were super heavy, rich, and flavorful. I was unable to finish due to how heavy each of them were and how much cheese there was. I definitely prefer the fettuccine alfredo, because towards the end of the manicotti I felt like I was just eating meat sauce and very little pasta. read more

I have never written a restaurant review but my husband, myself and our friends felt like we were literally robbed after visiting Europa. Main issue: the food is terrible (and for the price, it's actually diabolical). The flavor was borderline gross. In addition: Our cups and silverware were dirty. The gal who dropped off our appetizer dropped some on the table and said oops and jetted away; didn't replace it. Our main dishes were terrible. 3/4 of us didn't finish and 2/4 didn't even want to take the leftovers because ew. Our main server was fine, not her fault. We all work in service related fields and don't love complaining, so we weren't going to cause a fuss - just not ever return. If it was one thing we would've just chalked it up to bad experience but it was many things, and we're still thinking how bad it was the next day.. Save yourself the money (this place isn't cheap) or go to Sorella in Kendall Yards. read more

I have been coming to Europa for more than 35 years. Every time I come, the food is amazing and I'm never left unsatisfied. The plates are full of flavor and expertise. Crafted with a nod to old world and tradition. But.... there is their service. And ever since they have changed ownership before Covid, their service is well....lets say a little different. They make you feel as if your presence has inconvenienced them in a way that cannot be forgiven. How dare you ask for a table! How dare order food! How dare you pay and tip us! It is very off putting since this is not an exclusive Las Vegas club. I continue to go, and continue to subject myself to their bad service.I can't help it, their food is hauntingly good. Such a beautiful quaint spot to go for dinner with friends or family. The food is as amazing I got the sampler which let you choose 2 entrees which was so nice since everything looked tasty. I must be a glutton for punishment because we keep coming back to Europa hoping that the service issues have been resolved (based upon the many, MANY negative reviews) but last night was the last straw. We had made a reservation for a large group and unfortunately, many of them did not show up. Our waitress did NOT let us forget how inconvenienced she was because of this, how inconvenienced the kitchen was and the people she had to turn away because of it. Heavy signs, snarky remarks and basic disgust was more than evident in how we were treated. Having been in the service industry before, I watched how the staff runs this restaurant and it is beyond bizarre. Many, many people were turned away at the door even though there were plenty of open seats. Our waitress, as other waitresses on other visits, would take the order of a couple of people at our table, disappear for several minutes and then come back to take the rest of our orders. She seemed irked that we wanted to order dinner and appetizers at the same time. She failed to let us know what they were out of and was irritated when a few of us ordered those dishes and then had to choose something else. She never came back to ask how we liked our food. She never asked me if I wanted another glass of wine. She came back exactly once to refill waters. I saw her pacing back and forth between the kitchen and the dining room as if she had nothing to do and the other server's behavior was just as odd. The food was subpar. The pizza was burnt and the manicotti was just one noodle covered in thick, waxy cheese. Please, if you have any self respect, go to Italian Kitchen or Old Spaghetti Factory if you want Italian in downtown Spokane. We had just arrived in Spokane for our daughter's graduation from college. I saw that Europa was right next door to where we were staying and they offered a happy hour. We walked over there and waited in a dimly lit, dingy and old restaurant. We thought we will just grab a drink or two and an appetizer while we wait for the rest of our group to join us. At the entrance we let the server know that we would like a table. She immediately responded in the most snide and rude tone and asked if we had reservations. Both myself and my husband were apologetic and let her know we didn't realize we needed reservations and that we had just gotten into town. To be clear nowhere in the website does it say reservations required. She returns and says " we can squeeze you in" again in the rudest and most snide tone I have ever experienced at a restaurant. We looked around the restaurant and there were literally 4 other parties and their reservation list showed maybe 8 reservations for the evening. I understand people are short staffed- if that is the case just let us know they can't seat us that evening and we would have just found somewhere else down the street. Once seated she threw a menu down (not a happy hour one at all) and didn't come to check on us for over 10-15 minutes. Once she returned to the table she gave the fakest smile I have experienced and asked if she could get us a drink. Again the tone was horrible and both of us were in shock with how rude she was. I asked politely if there was a happy hour menu. She replied with the nastiest, fakest smile, I have ever experienced in a restaurant in my entire life. And she turned around and threw a happy hour menu on our table. I turned to my husband and we were both in shock of what was happening. We decided to just leave. I have never left a restaurant before nor have I ever been treated so poorly. We walked down the street and went to two other bars/restaurants that evening and had amazing service and amazing food. Homey, American Italian with a laid back atmosphere and attentive service. We came here the night before last just for dessert and liked it so much we made reservations for last night for dinner. Both the hostess (can't remember her name and our waitress (Jessica) were bend over backwards accomadative. For dessert we had the Raspberry Cheesecake, Bailey's Cheesecake and Tiramisu with coffee. The next night for dinner we had the Calamari, Sampler Dip with Salmon, Roasted Garlic and Gorgonzola Fondue. All delish and our party each had their favorites. Mine was the Salmon and my Mom loved the Fondue. We had beer, wine and cocktails. My Martinis were really good with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives. My brother wasnt crazy about the Dark and Stormy or the Old Fashioned. Just a little weak on flavor and liquor. We chose for entrees the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Eggplant Parm and The Sampler which you can choose from a number of Italian favs. I chose the Manicotti with Marinara and the Alfredo. We loved our Alfredos! The sauce wasnt too rich or cheesy, just a nice lighter cream sauce with a good amount of some alcohol in it and lots of shallot which I absolutely love. My Mom couldn't stop raving about the Brussels on her dish. We added a few Meat Balls a la carte and they were just okay. I don't think I would get those again. Nice house salads or soup with the meal. The service takes a while but for Italian I always like that. It helps you savor and not rush. read more

Meridath (?) Was awesome. Creme Pesto house dressing was magnificent on the fresh dinner salad. Lasagna was fresh and delicious, with some very soft and fantastic bread and creamy butter. I added a meatball, just to taste it, and it was good. I only ate half my lasagna, so I have room for dessert. I would definitely recommend the Creme Brulee, nice thick crust delicious filling. We had dinner here for the first time and couldn't have been more impressed. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. The salad with the house dressing was the first hint that the food was going to be good. I had the linguine with clams. The clams were perfection. The food was exactly what we were wanting and expected. It is the heavier old school American style Italian, but they also have a larger variety of options than we have seen; my Sicilian dish had a puff pastry style crust topping. More than half of it was wrapped to take home. The appetizers were delicious! We had crab stuffed mushrooms, and they serve them in an escargot baking dish so the sauces stay with the mushrooms. Wonderful!! We took most of our entrees home because we wanted to try their desserts. I had key lime pie--very good but not as good as Key West. Hubby had a cake with tropical flavors that was fantastic. Yea, we also had to take home about half of our desserts. Our server was attentive and friendly. The space is large and still cozy, clean but not sterile. We will return. read more

We had the cookie cheese cake for dessert and it was very good!! Their dessert selection is nuts, so make sure to leave room. The best part was the atmosphere. We decided to eat here on a whim pretty late in the evening last night. It was pretty quiet and the restaurant had a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The food here was fantastic. The red pepper tortellini, in particular, is absolutely delicious and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Our server was very amiable and attentive. Overall a very positive experience. First, it was a lovely old building. I called to see about reservations and was able to get my chosen time easily. I was worried about parking but it wasn't bad like I expected. There are several 2-hour meters in front of the building and the pricing isn't as steep as several of the downtown lots or parking accommodations. We got to choose our table and found it really comfortable. The lighting was just right for that kind of establishment. We saw a candle on the table and the server kindly lit it at our request (this was, after all, a VERY early weeknight dinner). For a drink we tried the Virgin mojito. I watched it get properly muddled which is a nice for a non alcoholic drink. I had the sampler entree with Venezia and fettuccine alfredo. My companion had the bbq chicken pizza. We added a side salad to our order so we would both have one. For dessert we each had tiramisu. There were so many options and we agreed we needed to return for those in the near future. The service was kind and efficient. Normally when I dine with a child, no matter the behavior, servers are pretty absent or rude. Not the case here! It was nice to mutually experience a meaningful dining experience. They were serving a large party in the main dining section but still gave excellent service to all. Absolutely awful service! Walked in a half full dining room and were immediately assaulted by a hostess trying to stop us from going to the bar for dessert and drink. Asked us if we had a reservation and after seeing that the bar was empty, stated that it was a 10 minute wait for a table in the bar but the dining room could seat us right away. Took the chance on the 10+10 minute wait and were seated in a cramped table for 4. Asked if we could move to one of the other 8 other empty tables and we were immediately told "no"! Took our seats and asked for the dessert menu. The server was alarmed that we were only getting dessert and drinks, which we initially stated, and said "well now we have to do more dishes". That's when all 4 of us got up, went to the Peacock lounge and were immediately greeted by a fantastic waiter that graciously served us dessert and drinks. Simply amazing service. Walked in closer to the closing hour but we were still met with such welcoming and friendly service! Ordered the Sweet Pepper Tortellini and a slice of tiramisu for take out. Lol, I was one of the first people to eat here in 1982 or so. I know it was on the first week. Had pizza went upstairs for the movie at the magic lantern. Anyway, it was an absolute godsend for pizza for Spokane forty years ago, instantly one of the best locations for Greek/Southern European food in the entire inland northwest. Spokane has grown and now there are many restaurants that compete in Europa's niche, and some are equally as good. But Europa's remains relevant, still delicious, great service, not a fancy ambience but a relaxed upbeat place to enjoy world class food. One of my favorite places in Spokane, I was shocked to see I had never left a review for it. Shame on me, it's fabulous! read more

Walked in and didn't feel very welcome, probably because we were with our kid. But the place was pretty dead so not sure why we felt like a burden. They set up this big plastic mat under our kids chair, which I suppose is understandable but also was just a little weird. We've eaten out a million times with him and never seen that. Reading other reviews I see that the service is consistent...BAD. I had a birthday dinner reservation for 6:30 and thought we could enjoy a drink at the bar if we arrived early. We were rudely greeted and told we could wait next to the door until our reservation time, no one was at the bar and we were not allowed to have a drink while we waited next to the cold, front door. Tables were available but another couple without a reservation were rudely turned away. At 6:30 we went back to the "wait to be seated" stand and waited another 5 minutes while they washed our table, which had been empty the entire time! We were finally allowed to order from the same sour server/waitress who brought me 1/2 a glass of wine, our salads, and then before we had finished our salad our meal...which she told us, "no hurry". She just rushed us through our meal. The birthday dessert was an additional charge and so-so. The to add insult to injury the restaurant was empty at 8:00 and a friend walked in and was greeted with rapture while we walked out without even a good bye.
