Pleasantly surprised. The building is not much to look at from the outside but go in..you'll be surprised! Giuseppe's Restaurant, a surprising little Italian restaurant; unfortunately for me, the surprise isn't one of those surprises like I found a $50 bill on the ground. Food, service, decor was all mediocre at best. When I go out to a new restaurant, like Giuseppe's, I will always ask for a suggestion from the waitstaff, and then order from his or her personal recommendations. The waitress suggested the Chicken Parmesan, one of my favorites, as well as the lasagna. Looking at the two suggestions, I noticed there was an item that included not only both the chicken parmesan and the lasagna, but it also included a third entree, the beef ravioli. I decided to order that, because I would get to try both of my waitress's suggestions, and the beef ravioli. The price of the three entree dish was about 12 dollars I believe. The chicken parmesan was really what I was looking forward to the most. Because like I said above, it is one of my favorite dishes. I was sorely disappointed. The chicken appeared to be one of those frozen patties that you can buy in bulk at meijer or kroger. It was about a half inch thick slab of meat that tasted processed and frozen. It was dry, bland, and half of it was literally inedible, because it was all fat. Although the lasagna had a funny taste to it that I couldn't quite place, it turned out to be the best part of the meal. Sadly, it was at best below average when compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. The beef ravioli was the third part of the dish I ordered, and it was the only one that wasn't recommended by the waitstaff. It only took one bite to realize why this was not on my waitstaff's recommendation list. Once again, a sad example of Italian cuisine. The pasta tasted as if it was frozen. The beef inside the ravioli was greasy and gritty. The sauce accompanying the ravioli was hopefully from a can. If it was homemade, the recipe should be returned to the owner and removed permanently from the kitchen! I assume the chef knows the food is awful because the entire dish was served beneath a mountain of processed cheese, like (s)he was trying to hide the meal so I didn't have to eat it. I LOVE cheese. I usually request extra cheese. But after finishing what I could manage to swallow, I ended up with a quarter-pound burger (bun and fixings included) sized mound of cheese left over. It did nothing for the presentation of the dish or to complement any part of it, so I am left to assume it was meant to hide the meal from me. If that was the entire Giuseppe's experience, I would have given it a two star "Meh I experienced better" YELP rating versus the One star "Eek! Methinks not" rating I gave. Because the front of the house staff was not any better. Well, wait that's not fair - the hostess was very friendly, professional, and welcoming. In fact, the hostess offered a much higher level of service than any of the waitstaff did. I could see on her face, that she was almost apologetic that I had come in and was about to experience Giuseppe's throughout the night. I saw my waitress only 3 times: Once, when she greeted me/suggested me the items, Second time, when she brought me my drink and took my order, and finally, when she dropped off the bill. I was never asked how everything was after receiving any portion of my meal. It's probably best, because I would have most likely walked out halfway through the meal, if she did come by to ask me how everything was. During the few interactions I had with my waitress, she was short and cold with her responses. Because of this, I really honestly felt that I was more of a hassle than a welcomed guest in Giuseppe's. I will be honest, I do have a pretty high standard when it comes to customer service. I have this because I have been working in customer service related fields for 15 years. Giuseppe's falls further below the standard than any other restaurant has in many, many years. I have received a more welcoming experience from fast food employees who's face and tone of voice make it obvious that they hate their job. Short, cold, and almost nonexistent service (once again the exception was the hostess). Since I mentioned it earlier, the decor around the room was a bit chintzy. I understand what they were thinking, but it's time to remodel and get with the times. This is the first time I've gone back to the reviews of a restaurant to re-read. I have looked at the reviews of EVERY person that rated this place a 4 or 5 and reported them to YELP as fake reviews. I've also looked at their reviews of other restaurants and will put them on my black list of places NOT to go. I called in an order as I work nearby and had never tried it before. My first two choices were unavailable so I asked "What DO you have." She said Chicken Parm...so I ordered it for carry out. Now you don't have to be Italian to know what GOOD Chicken Parm should taste like. I will tell you that I have had better Chicken Parm from the frozen food section of Kroger. While the portion was enormous, the quality was terrible. The chicken was unseasoned and over cooked to the point of dry and rubbery. It was probably pre-cooked last week. The pasta was overcooked and gummy and the sauce tasted like it came from a can. While paying for my carry out, the lady had to run next door to the liquor store to get change. The place was empty at 12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and the taste of the food is obviously the cause of that. read more

The bread came in an actual ziplock bag, the side salads were of the variety I would assume they serve in prison, the salt overwhelming in both of our pasta dishes, the noodles were mushy and outrageously over cooked. I have been here 2 times in the last 2 years. I went back a second time just to give them a second chance at good food. The last time I was in the restaurant had to be back in Feb 2019. I ordered the Shrimp alfredo and my wife ordered the lasagna. My alfredo came with three ( 3 ) shrimp. The sauce was just like I took 2 teaspoons of parmesan and some milk with flower and mixed them together, like eating paste! My wives lasagna was made with pizza sausage bits, just like you would get from Little Caesars. Needles to say we will not be going back. It is a shame because I was told the family makes good food. As a Sicilian eating Italian food all my life I thought that the food was being made by people who had no idea what real Italian food should taste like. Maybe I am being over critical. A nice little gem tucked away in a dinky strip mall. Food is really good, fresh salad, and bread sticks are amazing. Had spaghetti with meat sauce, portion was enough for 3. Been here for dinner on multiple occasions, on nights where we were the only guests, and nights when seating was scarce...but the quality is always there. For diners on a budget, there's the Two for 20, Sunday to Thursday: a selection of entrees, salad or soup, and bread basket that feeds two for just 20 bucks. These aren't small servings, either: I had chicken Venetian and veggies and barely finished. If you can find a better deal, take it...but you won't. Their marinara sauce is rich and savory, the salad has large tomato wedges, the bread...wow,it's good! Get here soon, before everyone else finds out and takes your table! read more

Absolutely horrible meals me and my boyfriend had went to dinner there. We got the two meals for $20 and a bottle of barefoot wine. To begin with the Alfredo I ordered was very bland, I also had added shrimp to my Alfredo for $4.50; most absolute waste of money all you get is 3 pieces of shrimp. And the wine $18!!! I can get the same bottle at the store for $6, it was ridiculous on how much they charged. The waitress didn't even understand English that well, so it made it very difficult to order. Amazing authentic Italian food made by a family owned establishment. The service was very warm and efficient. My husband had the Chicken Marsala and I had the Chicken Mama Asunta. First of all this can't be owned by an Italian family anymore, at least as far as I could tell. The food proved it to me anyhow, nowhere even close to true Italian. ANYBODY can overcook pasta, open a can of sauce and slap it on a plate and over charge you for it, $11.99 for a plate of spaghetti????? I had been going to this place for a quite a while and this was a bit of a shock, seen as how I take my very Italian mother out to eat here when I'm in the area, she looks(ed) forward to it. This time I had some extra family members as well and nobody was impressed with their food, even my husband who will generally say nothing, good or bad about a place commented that he couldn't believe how tiny his portion of manicotti was, what a rip off. I ordered the rollantini, which is a difficult and time consuming dish to make I grant, but the wreck of a plate they presented me with was the farthest thing from it. What's worse is when I called them out on it, the waitress very rudely proceeded to point out that all the ingredients that the menu listed were on that plate....sure they were, but not in the form of rollantini. I should have been tipped off by the fact that it was spelled wrong on the menu! It's basically supposed to be par baked eggplant strips rolled up with ricotta and sauce and then further baked with more sauce and mozzarella melted on top....or some variation of this, BUT rolled and baked. The two pieces of eggplant were cut into thick strips and deep fried in some kind of egg batter until it was chewy like gum and then just layered on the plate and slathered with unseasoned ricotta with some super salty sauce and drenched in mozzarella. It came with a surprise side of that catering favorite...mostaccioli, which sadly I didn't want because I don't eat pasta, had I known I would have asked for a substitute. (A person of Italian decent who doesn't eat/love pasta you ask????, I know, I'm weird) The bill for the quantity and quality of the food on top of the horrific service (she was too busy playing phone on the other side of the bar to pay attention to empty glasses and dishes piling up, let alone to get us a bill for 15 minutes (she disappeared from the place) after the last person was done) while the place was completely empty. Now I know why. Stay home and eat a can of spaghettio's for a more authentic experience. Also, I didn't see any gluten free pasta options as someone else posted. read more

Excellent food and service. I made reservation for a group of 18. There was a mixup when we got there, they thought we were only having 8. Fortunately the waitstaff was able to get us seated after a very short delay. The waitstaff was quick, friendly and eager to please. We will definitely be going back. I was here with family over the weekend, and when I say family, I mean a party of 16. Even with the limited space, they were able to accommodate us. My 2 boys are seriously picky eaters, to the extent where I could count on 1 hand things they like. Anyways, my youngest had the kids cheese pizza, took one bite and looked at me and said "This is the best thing ever." My oldest, who sat near other relatives, had the Fettuccine Alfredo and also enjoyed his dish. We ordered Fried Zucchini and Stuffed Zucchini for appetizers, and definitely have to say the Fried Zucchini is the better, it was amazing. For my main dish, I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana. When others were getting their dishes, I kind of wished I had ordered something other than a fried vegetable, since I just had one as my appetizer. I got my dish, took my first bite, and had no more regrets. I was only able to take 2 bites of my main dish before I had to stop, I was already full from the bread, appetizer, and soup I had before hand. All the franchise Italian restaurant's in the area couldn't combine together with their best dishes and touch this food. It is that good! If you are looking for a true taste of Italy, you have to eat here. Sunday thru Thursday they have 2 meals for $20. The variety of dishes on that menu are amazing, it isn't just a couple of dishes, there are so many to choose from, all of which come with soup or salad which is fresh as it gets. The house dressing on the salad is amazing, the soups are worth the trip themselves. Chicken marsala is just wonderful, the gravy and mushrooms are not only the topping to the marvelous chicken, they are the stars of the dish as well. Eggplant Parmesan is delicious, sliced perfectly, not too thick like most places do, it is perfectly cooked with a generous amount of Parmesan and Mozzarella melted on top, with the perfect amount of pasta to accompany the dish. I could go on and on about this place, it is that good. They even have a carryout to feed 50 people for 299.00, now tell me where you can get fantastic Italian food to go for a gathering that cheap? No where. You can't even make it yourself for that amount... and there is no way you could make it taste that good either. This is the finest Italian Restaurant anywhere around. Nice family owned Italian restaurant. Had dinner with my mom and dad. Dad had chicken Marsala - very good and the sauce was a little thick but Not gravy. Mom had the lasagna - solid, not mushy. I had the chicken parmesian - still crispy with the sauce on top . The ceasar salad was large. The rolls were home made and tasty - they aren't the sweet, doughy kind but harty! It's located in a little strip mall next to a party store so we were pleasantly surprised that it was clean and bright inside. I'm trying new restaurants to find special spots like this one! We went here for my birthday in May. I think it was a Friday night, because they had a musician playing - which added to a nice, more intimate atmosphere - it's better than the large chains in that regard. I loved the soup! I had the lasagna, my husband had spaghetti and meatballs and we both were extremely satisfied and pleased with the quantity of food, freshness, presentation, and taste. Had a good house wine. horrible! we ordered carry out...so glad we did or we would have embarrassed ourselves with how unhappy we were.... none of our food was good...repeat...none of our food was good... we had alfredo with chicken, steak siciliano, stuffed zucchini and a side salad and some minestrone soup.... lets start with the soup...nothing minestrone about it...think they gave me beef vegetable? it was broth with celery, carrots and onion...no pasta, no zucchini, no beans, no tomatoes, etc. now for the alfredo...portion was generous, but think the sauce came right out of 1/2 and 1/2 carton...the noodles were soft and the sauce was all cream, no butter, no parmesan, no flavor really...i added butter and cheese to it and then it was worthy of putting into my mouth... steak siciliano- the ammoghio was just diced up tomatoes, nothing special, the meat had a funny texture and was flavorless along with the breading...it was cooked to order but nothing special here... and for the icing on the cake...the stuffed zucchini...it looked like someone threw up in it, so i did not even try it...it might have been wonderful, but i wasn't taking any chances.... bottom line: someone needs to call chef ramsey to rescue them, until then, i will never eat food from this establishment ever again! read more

All of my family and friends know I am super picky on Italian food ESPECIALLY CHICKEN PARMIGIANA!! I have to try it at every Italian restaurant I go to and normally I am disappointed every single time- well this place is the one and only exception!! The chicken parm here is perfection. I have yet to have a place beat it's amazing flavor and perfect balance of breading, cheese, and sauce and that is a huge compliment coming from me because I am very picky lol the salad/ bread (and dipping oil) is awesome the soups are amazing and the desserts are to die for- the staff is friendly it is super cute inside and probably my favorite Italian restaurant to go to if I am not cooking it myself- it's like going to Grandmas and getting real Italian!! We did the 2/$20 on a Sunday. For the price the food was very good. In the past we have paid a lot more for Italian food at other places that wasn't half as good. They were fairly busy while we were there, but the service was good. The exterior and inside could use a little improvement.
