    Real Veal Parmigiana
    Sam G.

First time visiting this family Italian restaurant. The service was great The food was good and authentic, the prices were reasonable. Haven't had real sliced veal parmigiana in a long time so I really enjoyed it along with the orzo soup and tasty pasta with red sauce. The tortellini with a creamy mushroom and chicken sauce was great and flavorful. The ambience was clean and cozy. Cocktails and bottle beer are available. Drive slowly or you might miss the restaurant in a small strip center N of 22mile. I shall return.

Great place. Not the best Italian, but it will do!! We got the two for $28.00 dinner special. Chicken Marsala and Lemon Chicken Tosca and both were just fine! Really good breadsticks!! Service is nice and friendly and food was served hot and on time. Nice decor and it's pretty kid friendly.

My co-worker has been suggesting this restaurant to me for the past year or so to try. So a couple of weeks ago, a few of my co-workers and I finally decided to meet after work for dinner at Giuseppe's, and we all enjoyed our food! Before ordering, we all shared the complimentary fresh bread and breadsticks, which were delicious! Then we ordered appetizers for the table to split: Fried Zucchini Sticks; Beer Battered Fried Mushrooms; and Pizza Bread, which were all really good and huge portions! For the entree, A couple of us ordered the Baked Italian Combo (1/2 lasagna piece; 1/2 order chicken Parmesan; and 2 Florentine ravioli), which was good as well! My experience was overall great at the restaurant, our waitress was very attentive and very nice! The restaurant and ambiance was nice! And I will definitely be returning! Not pictured, but I almost forgot that I had dessert to go (Turtle Cheesecake). The caramel sauce and Graham cracker crust was delicious!

To much cheese and sauce was out in 10 minutes after ordering.

The service was excellent. Our waitress was a young woman and very friendly and attentive. I have to say the ambience was very nice but a little outdated. The food on the other hand was not up to par. I have eaten it a few Italian restaurants. I ordered the veal parmesan in my fiance ordered the baked mostaccioli. The veil was very tough and had a oily taste. The breading was watery and soggy when I pick the piece up it folded over. There was too much cheese and sauce. The sauce was very strong and had a bitter taste. I could not taste the veal at all. I removed the breading the sauce and the cheese. I took just a piece of the veal and it tasted as if it had been microwaved. It was not fresh real. My fiance's mostaccioli which there was a lot of also had a bitter taste and she could only eat two bites of it. The roles that were served had also been microwaved to be warmed up. After about 5 minutes they cooled off and they were hard to eat. The salad that came with her dinner was not fresh. Everything on the salad was wilted even the tomato had looked like it been sitting there for a few days. Chicken soup that I was given had no chicken in it but a tiny piece about the size of the tip of my pinky. It was very bland and had very few vegetables in it. From other reviews that I had seen in other locations I was looking forward to eating here. In my opinion this is not a great Italian restaurant it's not even very good. I do not recommend eating here if you're looking for good Italian. We spent $41 and some change and it was not worth it. Again this is my opinion and there are many out there that may enjoy it there.

This place is a definition of "not bad" as me and my grandfather would put it. When we had looked this place up we had high expectations with the incredible reviews, when we had arrived my grandfather made a joke that "the gravity might be weak here" due to the apparel of the place we were greeted by nonstop Frank Sinatra playing in the background which got one check mark off my list with a bunch of empty tables. When we had gotten our appetizers the mussels and the pizza bread, we were amazed by the great mussels while the pizza bread had been a severe disappointment with the bread not even having that crispy crunch into the crust that I would like. When the main course had arrived I had gotten the ravioli, (which I would not recommend) that had ravioli with sauce on the top and cheese on the inside. The noodles themselves had NO FLAVOR what so ever. This place was a disappointment from what we had heard about, this place was like if the green lantern movie released in 2011 had made an Italian restaurant all cooked by the script and the sous chef the "amazing graphics" of the movie. So yes the gravity is weak at Giuseppe's I would not recommend eating here if your wanting to eat somewhere fancy or if your wanting to eat at all, INSTEAD eat at the amazing chophouse just a few buildings down called "Louis' Chop house".

The restaurant shut down, and my plan was to add 7 additional close friends. Lisa, the Manager was very helpful adding the additional (7) close friends. We had (1) server Michelle & a support staff. Adding our recent pov if it might assist any others new to DF. It was our first time dining at their new location (on the west side of Van Dyke, formerly on the east side in a much simpler space). Clearly folks love it! DF has innumerable exuberant fans. "in crowd", Jam packed on an early Thursday evening. We appreciated being politely greeted and seated at our reservation time and were directed to the back room. It was rollicking at full capacity. Tables full of dinners, birthday celebrations and youngsters blabbing, showing off. The room was annoyingly loud. Installation of sound absorbing acoustical ceiling tiles could likely help excessive noise. We appreciated being seated in a booth which was more private than seated at an open table amongst "the crowd". A DF booth is a good place to sit only with your spouse, or date. They're small, you'll make close eye contact, touch each other's feet and nearly your knees under the table. We were promptly and politely served gourmet quality bread. We inquired about, then ordered two glasses of house wine -- note, it should accurately be described as children's juice box drink. Our dinner salad was fresh and delicious as were our Italian style chicken dishes. DF also serves delicious pasta with meat sauce after salad and before entree. Everything was well prepared and tastefully presented. Support staff helpful clearing dishes along the way. Portions generous -- nice bringing leftovers home for next day lunch.

2020-10-30 TestaBarra. Macomb, Mi…read more The first time we came here was for their happy hour, tonight we came for dinner. Menu are both physical and virtual via QR code to access their website menu. There is definitely too much to talk about here so be sure to look at my pics as I've provided a quick summary in the captions. J Baldwin's famous calamari. After receiving the dish, I think I've had it before at J Baldwin's in Clinton Twp. The calamari is not your typical calamari and is sauced with his Beurre Blanc famed on the Food Network. While it's still breaded, the Beurre Blanc is enough to soften it completely while adding an explosion of flavor. The Beurre Blanc is made with olive oil, shallots, peppercorns, bay leaves, lemon juice, wine, and cream. Personally I think this dish was way too sauce heavy. There wasn't a single crispy bite. While flavorful, I was looking forward to a light and crispy texture, but didn't get it. I think this could have been accomplished with going lighter in the sauce, maybe just drizzling it on, and providing a serving of it on the side. 3,5 stars. Truffle Sausage Pizza. Tradition hand tossed dough that's not too thick and not too thin. Italian sausage, truffle oil, parsley, Gouda, Mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. The Italian sausage was not what I expected. Rather than slices or tiny meatballs, it was ground up. I kinda liked it to tell you the truth, but it wasn't evenly applied. It was more densely populated in the center, which left the perimeter sparse with toppings. While the truffle oil sounded good, it didn't work for me. Here's the thing you need to know about truffle oil, it's not made from truffles (mushrooms)! That's right, truffle oil is typically made from extract, which is why the flavor is so intense and a little goes a long way. Local Carbonara Bucatini. Made the traditional way with cuts of pork cheek (guanciale). The bucatini pasta was nicely done and not overcooked. The guanciale was also nice and crispy as it should be. It was lighter on the cheese than I would have liked and none was served on the side, but it was Pecorino Romano and it was shaved from a block. Did I ask for more on the side, of course I did! The black pepper wasn't also as prominent as it should have been, but the server did have some fresh ground at the ready when it was served. 4 stars. Overall, I would have to say that I'm still a fan of J. Baldwin's Testa Barra. The food is prepared fresh with quality ingredients, and the dishes are inspirationally classic, and sometimes with innovating or modern twist. I've consistently never been disappointed with every visit. If You would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!
