Yes, Liguria Bakery is an SF Bay Area intuition but IHMO, GK Pastry's focaccia is superior to LB's focaccia. One of their bakers, Jaime, who is a fellow FilAm helped me with my TGTG order and to help me learn more about the bakery. My TGTG surprise bag included a bag of savory turnovers and jalapeño cheese bread. Both super yummy. I added a bag of hazelnut coffee amaretti cookies, a tiramisu in a jar for my cousin, and the olive, tomato & truffle focaccia. There were so many savory AND sweet focaccia to choose from that appreciate Jaime's help. Their Palo Alto site is the original store. Shop is quaint, but not crowded. Their inventory of goodies are carefully placed. I was tempted to go on a shopping splurge. Instead, I hope to become a regular shopper bundling a TGTG purchase with other items in the store. While I appreciate the quality ingredients and good chew of the amaretti cookies, these were too sweet for my taste. My husband found this spot thanks to Yelp. We were in the area having an early dinner so decided to stop by here afterwards. There were no customers when we arrived. It's a cute little pastry shop with breads, ice cream, and cookies. Apparently everything is made fresh! The owner was very nice and friendly and let us sample some of their jar cakes. We ended up purchasing a Ruby Chocolate Jar Cake since we liked the strawberry flavor and it wasn't too sweet. Picked up my very first TooGoodToGo order from GK Pastry and we really enjoyed it! Came in at about 7pm to pick up my order ($6.99) and they gave us the following two Focaccia: ~The Focaccia~ - Chocolate & Blueberry Focaccia: This one was our favorite! This focaccia had SO much blueberries in it, it was so good! Not too tart, and balanced the chocolate and cream cheese pieces perfectly. - Shiitake Mushrooms & Gruyere Focaccia: Savory, umami goodness. This bread had a lot of shiitake mushrooms and cherry tomatoes on it and balanced out the cheese really well. I love savory breads ands this did not disappoint. ~Overall~ Despite getting our order from TooGoodToGo, both breads tasted fresh and we really enjoyed it! It seems that the normal price of each bread is about $11, so it's a bit pricey, but I do think even that price would be worth it for how generous they are with their seasonings and toppings of each bread. I'd definitely like to go back and try out their different flavors. I also really appreciate how late they stay open for being a bakery; I feel like a lot of bakeries tend to close earlier (also since they start at earlier hours), but this bakery is open until I believe 8:30pm, so it's very convenient for those that may have to be at work until 5pm. What a cute and beautiful shop! I love the enticing food/dessert displays and the nature-inspired interior. The manager is friendly and professional, and helped me figure out which flavors of Jar Cake to get - we prefer less sweet, so I got the Tiramisu and Ruby Chocolate. Both were delicious! I'm looking forward to trying the Pistachio next time. I often look for good food/dessert to bring as gifts, and their cute cardboard box that fits 2 jars will be perfect for my future lucky recipient. (I opted for a bag for my own purchase today.) The food is excellent. The vibe is... interesting for a bakery. Food wise we had the olive and truffle cheese focaccia - very good and the chocolate and blueberry focaccia - also very good. We also bought a loaf of the sourdough - light inside, crunchy outside, not my favorite sourdough as I like mine with a bit more substance such that it can be used as a sandwich bread; I felt this one was a bit too light / airy to be able to hold a sandwich together. As a standalone sourdough slice served with butter or olive oil it is very good. There is a bit of wholemeal flour or malt or something in there which makes it delicious too. On the vibe - it feels less bakery-like, more like a shop that sells something other than food. I think it's because there is no food smell in there. The breads and cakes are all pre-packaged. The store is very neat and clean largely because everything is pre-packaged. There are no tables or chairs or anywhere to eat here - purely to-go. Our order had focaccia bread (one big plain one and one with tomatoes and other fixings) STARS (stand out qualities) -Foccacia bread was flavorful and moist -One staff there was there was very friendly and offered to answer any questions I may have STAIRS (areas of growth) -Prices are high and would be good if they have promotional events for discounts -The staff said they only have chocolate cookies at Mountain View branch. Stopped into GK for dessert for the family. I got the Apple Pie and Mixed Berry Jar Cake as well as the Blueberry cookies. The Apple Pie jar was my partner's favorite and the Mix Berry was my favorite. The Apple Pie Jar Cake has a great texture. The apples are so perfectly diced into tiny cubes. It has such a nice Apple Pie flavor. The cake part was also delicious. The cake part was fluffy and soft. I personally loved the Mix Berry Jar Cake more. The texture is so creamy and reminds me of the texture of Tiramisu. It had a velvet mouth feel. The service was great and the shop was very clean, tidy and made you feel welcome. I'll be back! I love this bakery and I'm not surprised it has all 5 stars. It's family owned business. The owner and staff are extremely friendly. You'll see how lovely this place is as soon as you enter. It's cute and very well organized. It is a bit pricey but I'd say it's worth it, all baked goods are made fresh each day. And the menu keeps changing as well. You get free samples as well. I've tried most of their mason jars desserts and it's delicious, I always take those to go. I once had the crab bread, I forget what it was callee but oh my it was wayyy too delicious. I'll cut right to the chase here, because I tried their multi-grain loaf because it looked interesting, despite the steep price tag at $11/loaf. Let me tell you, this may be the best tasting bread I've had in a decade, and that's saying a lot. I could wax poetic just about the texture of both the loaf and the crust--first bread I didn't even want to toast because it's just so perfect without. It's as good or better than bread I've gotten from places with famous chefs. The bread was so good, I felt the same way about it even after it had been in the fridge for 2 days. Chef's kiss. The only other things I've had from this bakery have been the focaccias, which I've enjoyed to different degrees. I loved LOVED the mushroom focaccia, and have had equally good fruit focaccia here before. The bread itself is stellar, but I'm not as equally a fan of all the flavors. The one thing I was less a fan of was the samosas I purchased, but they were from the day old case so it's hard to tell if it was that or that I've just had such great samosas from home cooks or that these were not at the same level as the bread. The bread is VERY airy, and the only choice for plain sourdough bread is white. They seem more specialized in flavored breads and their many other pastries.
