We have had pastries from this spot at other coffee shops and wanted to try it until a friend picked up some goodies from the farmers market and shared, they are fairly decent. They do a good job balancing the sweetness in their pastries or the salt in their savory pastries. Will have to stop by the location to check out other items and will update the review

Ham and Cheese Croissant Passion fruit Seasonal Danish
    Huna M.

Such a cute establishment with limited outdoor seating and delicious pastries. I tried the ham and cheese croissant and it was an extra flaky, savory treat! The real MVP though is their seasonal danish which is passion fruit flavored. One bite in and I was sold this may have been the best danish I've ever had. It was fresh and not too sweet. FYI: they do not sell beverages other than coffee. I wanted to add coffee to my order but they were out for the day and it was only 11:30am. The lady taking our order was kind enough to give us cups of tap water but it was warm and didn't do a good job washing the pastries down.

While in Mt. View, we decided to see what pastries were left at The Midwife and the Baker. We had been here a couple of times before. There is street parking only. Walk-up window with two lines to help you. The staff is friendly, patient, and very helpful in explaining what certain baked goods are. Today, we got the Almond Croissant, which is always a crowd favorite. Flakey, buttery, nutty and filled with almond paste. I tried the Creamsicle Scone. Citrus-y, with little pieces of candied orange peels. Best to eat with some kind of beverage because you know scones can be on the dry side in general. Support your local business.

Wow this place is sooo good! My favorite is the almond croissant I first tried the pastries from here when my boss brought some of the croissants to work for everyone- he brought both the plain and the almond for us The almond one is just so delicious- I need to come here and buy some for my family to try! : ) My friend also lives nearby so maybe we can go in the morning one of these days soon and try their other pastries as well!

Great bakery that stands out for the quality of its craftsmanship. The croissant is absolutely lives up to the hype and is well worth the visit. All the pastries and bread are great, showing high levels of consistency across the entire menu. There are long lines so be patient, its well worth the wait! There is some outdoor spots to sit ambiance is nice.

Delicious baked goods! The lines can be quite long. I don't think it was worth the wait for me personally, but they do serve amazing baked goods. If I'm in the area I'd be open to checking them out again and seeing what baked goods they're offering that day!

11.25.2025 Our second time here in the last few days to pick up pastries for our relatives. There was a better choice of pastries, as we arrived earlier than last time. Everyone else seemed to be there also as the place was busy, but wait times were only a few minutes. This is a cute inconspicuous bakery window on the side of their bakery building. They have bread and pastries available for purchase. The employees were very friendly, patient (with us first timers), and personable. There was a coffee truck there today but we didn't get a chance to try it. There were a few tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your pastries. Which we did the first time we visited. Definitely a cute neighborhood bakery to visit if you're ever in the area. Street parking only.

The vibe here is so so cute & there are so many goodies to choose from! In addition to their own goodies, there are also pop-ups from Rōzmary Kitchen (amazing sandwiches) and Boast roasters ( coffee van ) , all which are so so good. If there is a line here it's usually quick. There are two windows to order from. A display window of goodies and a chalk board of breads available. I got the seasonal pumpkin muffin which was incredible and there's everything croissant- also incredible. Not sure I've had anything I didn't like from here. There are some tables to sit at / bar tables to stand at. Every time I go usually on Fridays 11ish-2ish, it is so incredibly hard to find parking. It's located in a warehouse area and there is only street parking, most of which are taken by cars and trucks or have red lines where you can't park.

This place feels like a hidden gem! The kind you almost want to keep to yourself but can't because it's that good. The outdoor seating is amazing and so peaceful. We used to come once a week in the summer! It can be tough to get a table during those months, but it's absolutely worth it if you can. My go-to order is their excellent croissant paired with an Americano from the Boast Coffee truck. They also do seasonal pastries really well: the passion fruit danish in summer was incredible, and the pumpkin danish in the fall is even better. They sell bread too, and their olive loaf is honestly the best olive bread I've ever had in my life.

    Chocolate sourdough bread

I saw the Midwife and the Baker vending at the Temescal Farmers Market, so I decided to try their chocolate sourdough bread, which is $4. It's fun, it definitely has the sourness of sourdough but was also very chocolatey so I enjoyed this unconventional flavor combination, as someone who loves chocolate. It is also pretty reasonably priced for the amount of bread.

    Iced latte with whole milk

Midwife and Baker is a perfect neighborhood gem - an outdoor coffee truck + grab and go bakery/pastry shop with a sunny seating area that is perfect for the summer. There's nothing better than enjoying a buttery pastry with an iced latte in the sun. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience great. The coffee cart isn't always there when the bakery is open, but when it is it's worth the stop. I usually go for the classics: a regular croissant or chocolate croissant - both are usually consistently flaky, crispy, and delicious. Their iced lattes are just right - smooth, never bitter, and not overly milky (which is just how I like it!). When I went on Sunday morning, they even had a pop up gelato tasting cart. There's plenty of outdoor seating, though on nice days it can be tricky to snag a spot, and there's often a short line (~5-10 minutes). It's definitely a neighborhood classic and part of my weekly Sunday routine.

Finally stop by their bakery shop in Mountain View which was quite spacious /open ! Finally tried their cardamon croissant which was pastry perfect with a great balance of spices and flaky goodness ! Their other baked good was also enjoyed

    Sticky Bun
    Gene D.

I finally got the chance to drop by their actual location one day, on my way into work. I ordered the sticky bun, fruit danish, and cardamom croissant. Overall, prices seem to have remained very reasonable compared to other bakeries. Perhaps this is due to me making the purchase directly with the vendor/supplier. If I had to rank my items, I would go with the danish, sticky bun, and croissant. The tartness and creaminess of the fruit gel, if you will, was a great contract to the flakiness and crispness of the exterior. The sticky bun was tasty but very "hard". The glaze turned into a shell rather than remaining gooey and sticky. The cardamom croissant was subtle and needed to be more spice forward IMHO. As usual, there were so many items to choose from. So, I will be back to try some more!

I got to Mountain View early so I stopped at GK first. They had most of the baked goods available but still needed to finish baking the focaccia so I went to do my errand. I bought chocolate chip cookie, dark chocolate oatmeal cookies, oatmeal with raisins cookies, tomato and cheese sourdough, artichoke and truffle focaccia, mushroom and cheese focaccia, pistachio croissant, almond croissant, monkey bread and blueberry amaretti cookies, cinnamon bun and a loaf of sourdough country bread. All of baked goods were tasty, loved the focaccia and sourdough breads, the only letdown was the chocolate chip cookie, it tasted liked it sat out to long. The oatmeal cookies were very healthy and provably taste better with coffee, tea or a liquid beverage. I ate them as a snack during my walks so I didn't drink anything. The woman who helped me was nice. Quaint bakery. They had fresh warm samples in the morning when I got there. I was able to try out both breads that I bought. If I'm out in Mountain View again I will stop in and get some bread and focaccia, my favorites out of everything I bought.

Fun fact: Alyzée" is the name of the owner's daughter. It boasts marble counters, bistro-style tables, and outdoor seating on Castro Street to mimic the South of France. The owner recruited pastry chefs who relocated from France specifically for this endeavor. They also have monthly flavor, for example for May 2026: "Strawberry Bliss" cake. I totally recommend: mixed berry tart, coffee eclairs. Their 100% pistachio cake is amazing - not too sweet and the pistachio flavor really comes through but doesn't overpower. Very creamy texture that isn't too heavy and has a fun, crunchy outer shell. The matcha raspberry is also nice and balanced - matcha flavor complements well with the raspberry gel / jam inside and is mellowed out by the cream. Inside is very chic and great place to chat and catch up over a cup of coffee and even get some work done - water station and wifi is inside.
