If you haven't tried the croissants. They are one of the most crispy and buttery flavored croissants that I found in the South Bay. For a Saturday,the line wasn't that long. I drove by earlier on the way to the shop and noticed this bakery in the corner. I dumped the van off and walked over to check it out. The selection was great! They had a display of baked items at the window and a Chalkboard sign. I saw a ham and cheese croissant and was immediately sold. The young man worked at the window was polite and welcoming. I had time to kill but wasn't too hungry so naturally I ate something ‍ BEST HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT I HAVE HAD IN SOMETIME! No, really. It's simple but easily messed up by most places that have them. Flaky, ham was thin and broke apart easily, the cheese and inner soft portion mixed together was superb. I sat quietly and munched! I overheard regulars saying it was unusually quiet and not the norm? Regardless it was peaceful! Shades triangles above the picnic table, the side under the tree was occupied but I was happy where I was. While in Mt. View, we decided to see what pastries were left at The Midwife and the Baker. We had been here a couple of times before. There is street parking only. Walk-up window with two lines to help you. The staff is friendly, patient, and very helpful in explaining what certain baked goods are. Today, we got the Almond Croissant, which is always a crowd favorite. Flakey, buttery, nutty and filled with almond paste. I tried the Creamsicle Scone. Citrus-y, with little pieces of candied orange peels. Best to eat with some kind of beverage because you know scones can be on the dry side in general. Support your local business. read more

The real MVP though is their seasonal danish which is passion fruit flavored. One bite in and I was sold this may have been the best danish I've ever had. It was fresh and not too sweet. FYI: they do not sell beverages other than coffee. I wanted to add coffee to my order but they were out for the day and it was only 11:30am. This place is pretty much the only place with delicious 100% whole grain bread that tastes great without sugar or any additives. Most other bakeries add some refined flour to their heartier breads, and store-bought versions often add sugar. But here the Whole Wheat and Whole Wheat w/Sesame stand alone for only using fresh milled whole grain flour and providing delicious taste & texture. read more

11.25.2025 Our second time here in the last few days to pick up pastries for our relatives. There was a better choice of pastries, as we arrived earlier than last time. Everyone else seemed to be there also as the place was busy, but wait times were only a few minutes. This is a cute inconspicuous bakery window on the side of their bakery building. They have bread and pastries available for purchase. The employees were very friendly, patient (with us first timers), and personable. In addition to their own goodies, there are also pop-ups from Rōzmary Kitchen (amazing sandwiches) and Boast roasters ( coffee van ) , all which are so so good. If there is a line here it's usually quick. There are two windows to order from. A display window of goodies and a chalk board of breads available. I got the seasonal pumpkin muffin which was incredible and there's everything croissant- also incredible. Not sure I've had anything I didn't like from here. There are some tables to sit at / bar tables to stand at. Every time I go usually on Fridays 11ish-2ish, it is so incredibly hard to find parking. It's located in a warehouse area and there is only street parking, most of which are taken by cars and trucks or have red lines where you can't park. read more

This place feels like a hidden gem! The kind you almost want to keep to yourself but can't because it's that good. The outdoor seating is amazing and so peaceful. We used to come once a week in the summer! It can be tough to get a table during those months, but it's absolutely worth it if you can. The coffee cart isn't always there when the bakery is open, but when it is it's worth the stop. I usually go for the classics: a regular croissant or chocolate croissant - both are usually consistently flaky, crispy, and delicious. Their iced lattes are just right - smooth, never bitter, and not overly milky (which is just how I like it!). When I went on Sunday morning, they even had a pop up gelato tasting cart. There's plenty of outdoor seating, though on nice days it can be tricky to snag a spot, and there's often a short line (~5-10 minutes). I finally got the chance to drop by their actual location one day, on my way into work. I ordered the sticky bun, fruit danish, and cardamom croissant. Overall, prices seem to have remained very reasonable compared to other bakeries. Perhaps this is due to me making the purchase directly with the vendor/supplier. If I had to rank my items, I would go with the danish, sticky bun, and croissant. The tartness and creaminess of the fruit gel, if you will, was a great contract to the flakiness and crispness of the exterior. The sticky bun was tasty but very "hard". The glaze turned into a shell rather than remaining gooey and sticky. The cardamom croissant was subtle and needed to be more spice forward IMHO. As usual, there were so many items to choose from. This downgrade was done with a heavy heart- guys, as a premium bakery selling everything at least one day old is a big no no. We got today the country loaf and a bunch of pastries. The location was the farmer's market in palo alto. Everything, and i mean everything was old. We trust them so we only found out in the car the bread was at least a day old, the pastries were old. We went at 9am, there is simply no excuse. We had to do a detour through Manresa to save our brunch and had to buy everything again. Unless i hear back and get a compensation for our almost $40 spend our business with you guys is sadly over. read more

On saturdays a coffee truck is parked next door, so great place to grab coffee and a pastry. The ambiance is basic, outdoor seating with plastic chairs. Very flaky, dense (in a good way), and texture was great. Ham and cheese croissant was 3.5/5. Nice flakiness on the outside but the ham was on the dry side. The ham was also bunched up in 4 layers in the center of the croissant - maybe just a personal preference but wish the ham was more spread out evenly throughout the entire croissant so you could get more ham with every bite. Tried their vegan carrot cake muffin at the farmers market and it was amazing: incredibly moist with the perfect streusel on top. It's a bit too sweet for my preference but goes great with a hot black coffee or tea. This place is magical. First things first - it is a tucked away, if you did not know it was here, it would be hard to find. Sadly it is in the middle of RV-central, so parking is a challenge. But its a little bakery on a corner - super accessible from 101. Second - if you want something specific, they say to order ahead. We will do that from now on because we have fallen in love with their loaf of bread. We got their Seeded Country bread - WOWZERS, just so delicious. We also got several croissants which were buttery, flakey, everything they should be and an ample amount of chocolate! I think I saw it is made with sourdough starter, soooo good. It added such an incredible flavor. We also got chocolate chip cookies which were very tasty, but my son prefers a chewier cookie, although he loved the flakey salt on top. We also got one other croissant, think it was the almond, I did not try - but want to next time! I think the pricing is fair and reasonable for the incredible quality you get! I think there are some benches outside you can sit on, but its not really a go there and hang out inside, there isn't really an inside and no bathroom to use, which is fine. read more

A nice slightly sweet with warm spices to start the day! - Ham and Cheese Croissant ~crunchy layers on the outside and slightly fluffy layers on the inside, this pastry was well balanced with the savory ham inside. A classic. With some tables on the side, we snagged one in the sun and were able to chow down. Note: If you're lucky and come at the perfect time, almond croissants freshly made are available. While eating, the cashier revealed the almond croissants were just made available. From the nearby customers who snagged one, I overheard that they were still warm and really good. We love midwife and the bakery. We get our olive sourdough and croissant every Sunday from the Farmers Market in Mountain View. Two weeks ago, we got the bread and my toddler almost broke his tooth from a pit in the bread. A few days later, I almost choked on one too. I went back to them at the farmers market and told them what happened and all they said is sorry about that. Didn't even offer one as compensation. Just found a third pit. Totally unacceptable and very dangerous. Threw it all out. Haven't bought from them since then. read more

The almond croissant was nice and flakey, while soft on the inside. The blueberry danish was my favorite - loved the flavor combination of the blueberries and the custard filling.
