This location of Alexander's Patisserie is located in downtown Mountain View. Parking is a bit hit or miss here, you can try your luck with street parking or park in the nearby parking garage. Exterior and interior is modern and sleek, which is nice. I originally came here specifically for their Matcha Croissant, but I noticed the Matcha Flat Croissant on their menu, so I ordered both to try. Their Matcha Croissant was decent, but I felt like it did not taste as fresh and the matcha ganache inside was good, just a bit on the bitter side and there was a bit too much of it that it was overpowering. Their Matcha Flat Croissant tasted dry and stale, and the matcha chocolate it was dipped in tasted more like chocolate than matcha. Overall, it was good to try one time, but I do not think I would be back for these items. read more

I've been stuck at home with a bum leg for over a week, so I decided to treat myself to breakfast delivery from Alexander's Patisserie in downtown Mountain View, which I'd never tried before. I ordered an apple croissant, banana chocolate croissant, kouign-amann, baguette sandwich, and an iced mocha. It took a while for my breakfast to arrive. The iced mocha was warm because the ice had melted, but it was easy enough to fix with ice from my freezer. I'm pretty sure it had no coffee in it, just oat milk and hazelnut dark chocolate, which was perfect in my book. I drank it fast. It was my first time trying a kouign-amann, and I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about. After a couple of bites I moved on to the apple croissant, which had almond cream and a cinnamon apple compote in it. It was delicious, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. Next was the banana chocolate croissant. I was disappointed when I cut it in half and saw how little chocolate there was inside of it, but once I tasted it I realized it was just right. The bananas and almond cream were very, very sweet. It was scrumptious with powdered sugar and sliced almonds on top. Later in the day I tried the baguette sandwich, which had Brie, sliced apples, jambon, arugula, mustard, and garlic aioli on it. It was good at first, but then I had to remove the Brie because it overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. The apple tasted great, but I pretty much love anything with apples on it. Alexander's Patisserie sits on Castro Street where there are so many different restaurants and stores to explore so you can really make use of your time here. Once you step inside it feels like you're transported to a cute little Parisian patisserie. The interior is elegant and relaxing and the staff are friendly. We ordered the Fleur de Pistache and a mango pastry which I believe is called a Mango croissant but I honestly forgot (it may also be seasonal). Beautiful presentation so 10/10 for that. As for flavor the Fleur de Pistache was good - texture was great but I do wish it had a heavier pistachio flavor. The Mango croissant was crispy and fresh. Both items weren't overly sweet which is what I look for in pastries/desserts so I appreciate that. I didn't get a coffee this time around so I can't speak on that, but I'll be back again to try the coffee and their other pastries. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the visit! read more

All the dessert are very elegant and made with great details. They're almost too pretty to eat and great for taking pictures. They are expensive - $15 each, definitely not cheap and overpriced, IMO. Got a box of half a dozen macaroons and they are very good. Also order a lavender-flavor tea. Both the lavender and tea flavor is very weak, almost tastes like water. The decor is nice and seating is comfortable. It's a great place tables for people to hang out. Some tables are not cleaned though. Wish the staff would clean the tables more regularly. read more

Over the last few years, I've been here a few times whenever I'm in the area for work. Always found their matcha croissant to be delightful, but forgot to review AP whenever I stopped by back then. Well I came back last week after work on a particularly rough evening. It was my birthday and I was spending it alone in a hotel room since I'm from SoCal. And embarrassingly, I did end up admitting this to the person assisting me with picking a sweet treat for myself. He unquestioningly took it all in and started suggesting some sweets for me. All his recommendations were helpful and I appreciated the kindness he showed me. The Coffee Rose was like eating a Ferrero Rocher in cake form. The pastries are almost too beautiful to eat. Almost... My latest visit to Alexander's Patisserie, my friends ordered several items for us to share. I liked the lemon yuzu tart the best. Looking back, I reviewed the Cupertino location and gave them 3 stars and rate this location the same. A+ on the presentation, but the taste (ok) and high prices take off some points for me. The tables inside were all packed with others that had set up shop long term with their laptop. Came by for some dessert the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking is available on residential streets around Castro. The inside of the bakery feels high end. Opted for a tiramisu and it looked great. The tiramisu itself was different. The lady finger was swapped out with a moist chocolate cake. The cocoa powder on top was also different. I've been to Alexander's Patisserie multiple times over the years, it's definitely a hallmark of downtown Mountain View. They have pretty consistent quality when it comes to their pastries and drinks and it's a cute cafe. This was my first time doing their afternoon tea experience. In the bay area I'd say the price falls between mid-high compared to other places I've been. You have to make reservations on tock and pay ahead of time. We paid $167 after tax and gratuity for 2 people. Onto the experience... The presentation here is beautiful. Upon sitting down they keep a chest with samples of their teas so you can smell them. The tea quality here is actually much nicer than I expected. I absolutely loved their black tea with bergamot, the bergamot flavor was perfect. Our server brought out our tiered tower with treats and walked us through all of them. We liked everything, especially the pastries on top. The christmas tree mont blanc was my favorite! My only criticism was the lack of attentiveness from our waitress. She mentioned she would check on hs later so we could try other teas but she never did. Pleasant patisserie for an elevated experience. You order at the counter and are given a number to bring to your table and be served. I got the black sesame croissant while my friend got the pistachio croissant for breakfast. Would definitely get the pistachio croissant again but would pass on the black sesame, though they were very generous with the sesame cream inside the pastry. They were unfortunately out of the rooibos tea that I ordered (I wish they told me before they charged me), so I got there tropical tea instead. I appreciated that the tea bag was compostable--yes, you can still have fancy tea still while prioritizing sustainable practices. I do wish they had some decaf black options. I came back in the afternoon to bring home some cakes. It was a noisy, and I had trouble hearing my friend who was right next to me. I had considered returning at some point for afternoon tea but now won't due to the noise. You may want to sit outside if you visit. Long time lover of Alexander's, but had to write a review specifically for the CNY cake! Got the jade horse (matcha jasmine yuzu), and it was so light in texture and rich in flavor. I think it's very easy to miss the delicate jasmine against a strong matcha, but the chefs have made an absolutely perfect balance of flavors.. I am sad to leave a lower review because the chocolates were absolutely beautiful to look at, but the taste didn't live up to that. My husband brought them home for me knowing I love chocolate. They were way too sweet, and none of the individual flavors really came through - they all tasted the same, mostly like caramel and lots and lots of sugar. One of the many shops on Castro Street, Alexander's Patisserie is a cute cafe and dessert shop. The interior is very minimalist and clean, catering to audiences that enjoy that vibe. In terms of food, I can't say I'm impressed - I ordered a simple oat milk latte and not only did it take over 15 minutes to get, there wasn't any effort put in the latte art - for almost $9, I would certainly expect a lot more. When I asked the worker for a to go cup, since it took so long to get, I was basically just thrown a cup and asked to do it myself. I get the staff may be overworked and understaffed, but it just rubbed me the wrong way especially since I had already tipped them too. I walked into this place and immediately felt fancier. Not only are the chairs made for comfort and elegance, but the sheer design of the room makes you feel like you're in luxury. The total came to about $40 which is egregious considering how bad everything was. The opera cake was sooo awful. I couldn't put my finger on it but it tasted like chocolate and bad fruit. The texture was mushy and it was the worst $15 I ever spent. The pistachio tiramisu was very confusing. The flavors were muddy and just unpleasant to eat. I couldn't finish it. Even the macaron was bad. It had the most artificial strawberry flavor in it like 1980s Halloween candy. It is a shame since everything is so beautifully decorated. This was the first place that I tried the spiral/wheel croissant, and when my mom tried it for the first time she fell in love. On the way home, we decided to stop by to see if they had any. Since it was Mother's Day weekend, we saw a lot of families enjoying afternoon tea. I didn't see any in the display case, so I asked an employee and she told me that they discontinued them. This is one of those places where the desserts really make you go "WOW"!! The strawberry cheesecake I got was flawless from presentation to taste and texture. It really felt like what you would see on a professional cooking show. The staff that cooks these cakes are extremely talented!! Everything is beautiful and looks delicious. I ended up getting a Lemon Yuzu Tart. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it and appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. Their desserts are definitely on the pricey side, but it's clear that they put a lot of care and thought into what they create. Street parking nearby was easy. The best macaron we've had since Pierre Herme in Paris. We've been extremely disappointed by other places but the macaron here was very fresh and well made with good flavor (we tried lemon). After that bad experience 3 years ago, we decided to come back. The prices have gone up but so has the customer service apparently. My group ordered a bunch of pastries but the standout ones are the chocolate lava croissant, pistachio croissant, BBQ pork croissant, and ham and cheese croissant. Can you tell I like croissants? We were helped by Nathan and he was so friendly and his drink making skills are elite! His black sesame latte and honey comb latte was perfectly made. I'd come back just for those drinks alone. Alexander's Patisserie is a very cute bakery shop in downtown Mountain View. Going on a Friday afternoon, there were plenty of places to park. It's peacefully quiet even when the store is half filled with people enjoying their cakes at their seats. This place is so gorgeous and gives off the classic French vibe. Some of their songs have Andrea Bocelli, a perfect touch for this vibe. I've seen a couple of people work on their laptops. Just for my hardworking friends out there, I don't see any outlets where you can plug in your devices for charging, so plan accordingly. I bought the Little Tahiti cake. Many of their cakes range between $11-$15, which is appropriate for their more upscale pricing here. Eating the Little Tahiti was like going back to my childhood again when I enjoyed the vanilla flavor. It was like eating vanilla ice cream. It's so good. It's best when you eat slowly to savor its taste. The cake is so pretty and shiny. Going to this location, I felt that time slowed down a bit. It was pleasant and the staff here are wonderful. We were helping with a baby shower and wanted high quality finger foods for our friends and the parents to be, the first thought I had for something fancy was Alexanders. Their steakhouse in Cupertino used to be 1 Michelin star, the Palo Alto location used to be my place to get an amazing US, Australian, and Japanese Wagyu Sampler, and their pastry shop in Mountain View my European coworkers say is good in the area. The macarons are 3 dollars each so 24 of them was $72. I've had them before and they are tasty but they were so expensive we let the kids attending the party eat most of them, good thing was not a single one was left but every time a kid dropped a piece while eating I kept thinking how there was probably a dollar worth of macaroon on the floor. Mini ham and cheese croissants: good quality cheese and ham, probably the best ham and cheese I've ever eaten. Catering size croissants are minimum 20 per order. Opera cake + Yuzu lemon: Bought these as a treat for the family , total for both was close to $38. Tasty but expensive. The catering order was done via phone and their system isn't great. When I called them to double check on my order week of pickup they seemed confused and couldn't find my order. There were quite a lot of treats to choose from but I shared a couple. The passion mango treat was very tangy and balanced by the mango filling. The pistachio mousse, or whatever it was, was light and decadent. There were some crumbles of dark chocolate at the bottom which complimented the pistachio flavor. I occasionally dine in with girlfriends to celebrate a birthday and the pastries were delicious. These past couple of times, I've done take out. The Little Tahiti had been my favorite for years and has not changed in flavor or texture. Bread pudding was dry and had no flavor. Worth passing Exotic cheesecake was tasty but did not feel as fresh as before. Cheesecake portion tasted like standard cheesecake, not super creamy and the crumble at the bottom was dry. I have always enjoyed the pastries from Alexander's Patisserie and have frequented their Mountain View and Cupertino locations. Have even experienced their afternoon tea at the Cupertino location but this time around it seemed like one dessert was holding up the fort.
