Am waiting to get my oil change (normally no wait when I get there at opening 8am but forgot today…read moreand didn't get there until 9am on a Monday). I love that Tom doesn't try to upsell me. He starts the car and says I don't need to get an oil change because the light didn't come on yet. I corrected him and said no, telling him the "maintenance required soon" light shows up. i said that as he saw that onscreen and said oh okay then! (I also write down the miles to know). Regardless it's nice he doesn't just do things to charge. Also nice he remembers who I am. Last year I came for an oil change 6 months after my smog check and the first thing he said was, "you were just here for a smog check right?" He sees people all day and remembered what he did on my car the first minute of talking to me when I got there I thought that was pretty funny. Today he began with "hello con gái đẹp" which just cracks me up (you, sir, get 5 stars for the chipper Monday attitude) Overall quick, good service at a reasonable price point that cannot be beat.

So I looked up smog places on Yelp and this location popped up closest to where I was. I called this shop up, spoke to a very nice and caring lady. She was very thorough and thoughtful, she looked up the vehicle's past smog history to make sure it'll pass so as to not waste my money if it had prior failures. Everything checked out with the smog history, she told me to swing by and they can do it in less than 10 minutes. Looks like a small mom and pop repair/smog shop. They hooked my vehicle up ran the test and I was out of there in 10 minutes. I love that they were kind, honest, and went out of their way to help me and provide me with useful information. She honestly was very motherly, it's hard to find truthful and honest repair places these days. Depending on the year and vehicle type is how they determine the cost of the test. The price on my vehicle was unbeatable because I had called several locations close to the area and this shop came out on top! I'm definitely going to come here for all my smog checks! I highly recommend this place!

Of course I knew exactly where to take him to get the smog check done - Just Smogs! Setting up an appt. was easy - I was able to book one for the following morning - over the phone. You don't need an appt., but I didn't want to risk a long wait since I came on a holiday. Was in and out in about 20 minutes, and had the paper certificate in hand to take to AAA. Just Smogs will also electronically submit the results to DMV, if you're going to renew through DMV. Danny (the owner) has definitely upgraded his lobby since almost a decade ago when I was last here with my old VW. The aquarium is still missing fish (lol), but there's a big screen TV, more seating and reading material, charging station, coffee machine & water setup, as well as a sort of a museum of older trinkets and antiques. They even sell wipers and smog candy! Amusing way to pass time while waiting for your service to be done. Cost ranges from $54 to $60 ish dollars - there's a $5 off coupon on their website, but Yelp check-in gets you $12 off (as of this posting, subject to change). Still, a great value when you take into account the cleaner, modern facility, spacious and interesting waiting area, friendly team.
