Jon the owner has ALWAYS responded within hours, often minutes (just checked my texting history with him). Given one is usually reaching out when there is a downpour, its exemplary. Another example: There was a very rare (and unexpected) overnight summer rainstorm when the roof was replaced and Jon and crew showed up in the middle of the night to cover their work as needed. A real conscientiousness towards the work. The crew was great, worked very clean and efficiently (they worked hand in hand with a skylight installer). In nearly all cases, our "leaks" were not about the quality of work but a function of anomalies in our roof (both flat "tar and gravel" and "pitched composite" with lots of angles, nooks and crannies) that required careful attention / maintenance on our part and some minor tweaks by Able to address the anomalies. He oversaw the work and made sure that everything was done properly. He is an absolute pleasure and treasure. Our job took a few extra days to complete -- and there was no increase in price. Lastly, there was chipped plaster where our skylight was replaced by Apollo and Nicholas fixed that! 5 stars and more for Nicholas B. The company also uses large 4-hour appointment windows (8 AM-12 PM or 12 PM-4 PM) for inspections. As a landlord, I was uncomfortable sitting outside the property for hours waiting for the technician to arrive, as I did not want to appear intrusive or make tenants uncomfortable. The phone representative assured me the technician would call before arriving, but that did not happen. Overall, the experience reflected poor customer service and poor communication between departments from the very beginning. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Capstone Roofing.

The crew - especially the foreman Francisco - was competent and went about their business in a highly professional way. The workmanship appears to be excellent, and it's backed by the best warranty that GAF (the roofing manufacturer offers). I went with Cooper Roofing even though their bid was 20% higher than others because I wanted to make sure that the work was well done. It's definitely been worth it. I also want to thank Kyle, the owner of the business (and Ken's son who took it over), who provided invaluable help in getting the solar company to pay for the new roof and coordinated with them to ensure the new installation went well. Cooper Roofing isn't the cheapest out there, but the quality is excellent and I don't mind paying a modest premium for high quality work.
