A wonderful restaurant with nice decor and solid food. The restaurant is nicely decorated. You the option to sit in the tavern, which is a more casual environment. The tavern has TVs and a bar. It is usually packed with Rutgers fans during game days for them. The restaurant itself is more upscale and is separated with a glass door. I suppose it is tree themed as it has a variety of glass "paintings" around the restaurant including a large one in the middle. I went twice for dinner and breakfast. My dinner was delicious. I had a flavorful buffalo chicken pizza. It was not spicy as I went for the non-jalapeño option. The crust was crispy, but fairly thin. They had a nice mixture of flavorful cheeses and the chicken was amazing! I also got a s'mores cake during dinner. It was OK, but nothing great. I did not love the whipped cream on the side, but the cake part was nice as it was not too sweet. The breakfast I had was buffet style and I was not the biggest fan. Their fruit looked fresh, but lacked flavor. They croissant and muffins were OK, but I did not love them. The biggest disappointment were the blueberry pancakes. They did not have actual blueberry just blueberry flavor. The staff was really helpful and nice, but a bit slow. They were apologetic about that, however. ***Menu Warning In Review*** Came to the Hyatt hotel for a pageant and decided to grab a bite to eat with the family. We stopped into this location inside the hotel. For one, the waitress was very kind and had an amazing memory. It was 5 of us and she remembered every bit of our order. The pizza is good and a nice, personal size. The nachos are A+, and my niece enjoyed the kids spaghetti and meatballs. However, our issue came to what my father and I ordered. I ordered the BBQ combo, which includes a half rack of ribs, brisket, and half a chicken. My father ordered a full rack of ribs. These all were made with the same bbq sauce, which had some spice to it but wasn't too bad. However, when my father at the ribs he immediately reacted to it. He's very sensitive to spice and avoids it at all cost. When he said the ribs were too spicy, the family thought maybe he was overexaggerating. I left the ribs for last, so I didn't realize just how bad it was until I got to it. Now I love me some spicy food, but this was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I couldn't even handle more than two bites. We had a rack and a half of ribs uneaten. We asked the waitress about the ribs. I wish we had taken her name because she was very nice and understanding. She said a kid had ribs and gave the same complaint, but she didn't think much about it since it was a kid. The whole table felt bad for the kid (we all tried the ribs and no one could handle it) and wanted to see what was wrong with those ribs. She was back in the kitchen for quite some time before she finally came to explain it. THEY MARINATE THE RIBS IN 4 TYPES OF PEPPER WITH NO WARNING ON THE MENU. Every spicy item on that menu is labeled as such. They had ghost pepper pizza and green pepper corn bread. So obviously, he avoided items like that. But the ribs? Nothing. Not even a mention of it. I give this place two stars because the waitress was nice and they took his platter of ribs off the check (I ate literally everything else in my combo so I wasn't about to fight to get more money off). Understanding the challenges of offering food during this pandemic there is, nevertheless, no excuse for foisting low grade Sysco, re-warmed slop as decent fare. The beauty of the menu: the font , the descriptions and the ingredients is grossly misleading but congratulations are in order for the effort in deceit. On the plus side one might report the freshness and crispness of the various greens. Unfortunately the bland, boring faux dressings betrayed even this positive note. Go elsewhere, please. I want to first start off by saying that I HATE writing negative reviews. I try to see the silver lining in a bad situation, but unfortunately there was none regarding Glass Woods Tavern. I arrived for an 8:00pm reservation and stood at the check in desk for 15 minutes before finally walking to get someone. After finally locating someone and being seated, we then waiting another 10 minutes for someone to arrive at the table. When they finally came, we placed our food orders and got two waters. The waters and the waitress didn't arrive for another 20 minutes. So this is now 45 minutes after arriving before even receiving a glass of water. When the food finally came, my chicken sandwich was cold and dry.. I looked over to other tables and saw they were going through the same thing. There was only waitress on duty but given the fact that there was practically no one in the restaurant, this shouldn't have been a problem. To make matters worse, there were two bartenders on duty who stood idly the whole time while customers received poor service and even resorted to walking up to the bar themselves to order drinks. At no point did it dawn on any of the bartenders to step in and assist the waitress or help move things along since there was no one seated at the bar . Again, I hate writing reviews like this. But this was completely unacceptable and this kind of service will ensure that this place never has repeat visitors. I don't know if this was a one off situation, but if not, the manager needs to step in and correct these easily correctable/highly important issues. read more

I came here for New Brunswick Restaurant Week. Thank goodness I did. Located on Albany St (not on George St nor Easton Ave) and inside the Hyatt Regency, this place will never be New Brunswick's hot spot. However, it does deserve to be on the list of the Rutgers' home's top restaurants. Once you enter the hotel, the interior which is a gorgeous contemporary style, to the left you will see a small bar area. The bar is dimly lit with selective lighting and a good number of TVs playing sports. Walk through and you find yourself in the tiny restaurant which holds seating for no more than 40 people. The restaurant decor is also contemporary, save the carpeting which is your typical ugly, easy-to-maintain hotel carpet. At first there seemed to be no waiters or hosts in sight, but after asking the bartender, we had 3 people including the bartender rush up to help seat us. The waitress was very kind and attentive all night. It also helps there were only 2 or 3 more parties in attendance. Their usual menu consists of smoked brisket chili, sweet and savory duck fat fries, and lobster pot pie. This alone will be the reason for a few trips back. I was very impressed with their restaurant week 4 course prix fixe. And for only $20, it was an absolute steal. Amuse bouche was a Chilled Yellow Tomato Soup Shooter with black pepper creme fraiche. I absolutely loathe cold soups, but a shot of this was an absolute treat. Although it was a chilled shot, it was very rich and the flavors very deep. First course was choice Baby Spinach and Arugula Salad or Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. The former was served with a tasty sherry-balsamic vinaigrette and lots of bacon crumbles. The latter contained nice chunks of crab. Main course was a choice of Pan Roasted Chicken Breast or Grilled Flat Iron Steak. The chicken breast had a amazing flavor. Seasoned perfectly and had a nice crust while being juicy inside. The Flat Iron Steak fell a bit flat. The molasses and peppercorn demi glace drenched the steak and was itself a bit tasteless. Both were served with Yukon gold mashed potatoes (delicious), asparagus and corn (boring). The dessert is where the Glass Woods made up a lot of ground. The New Jersey Blueberry Tart consisted of local blueberries, a thick, yet flaky crust and big scoop of vanilla bean gelato. Although it could have used more blueberries, I found myself struggling to put it down. The Warm Chocolate Pie was heavenly. It was more or less a warm, fudgy brownie with a gooey center with toasted marshmallows on top. After eating here three times (convenience) I am convinced that the Glass Woods Tavern has NAILED the Hotel Restaurant. Great food, great service, something for everyone on the menu. Soup & Sandwich be warned - Sandwich is HUGE and yummy. Both the lobster bisque and the new england clam chowder were to die for and when I ate the "Signature" Chocolate Potato Cake - I was not disappointed. On a rainy night in New Brunswick, looking for shelter after a show, a group of us found ourselves a good spot at the Glass Woods Tavern Lounge which is located inside the Hyatt Regency. The lounge is spacious and modern and our server was knowledgeable in a list of desserts and alcohol we were all craving. My fruit platter was fresh for the most part with the exception of the mandarine oranges. My friend's tres leches cake was not up to par as it wasn't as moist as it should be. My fiancée and I wanted to try someplace new to us. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Food was superb and the bartender knocked our socks off. It was not cheap, but the food was worth it. Only downside, is it's in the Hyatt and they don't validate for parking and you don't find that out until after you're in the Tavern. I understand they do validate for J&J employees and other frequent flyers of this property. You can't just be a Hilton Honors member. That was disappointing and imho cost them a star. read more

This tavern is within the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick, it is a nice spot with a bar area, restaurant seating and "game room" with a pool table and tvs. I stopped in twice during my weekend visit, once for dessert and drinks the other for lunch. The dessert was delicious as was the sangria I had to accompany it. It was a berry devils food cake, similar to strawberry shortcake. The bartender was nice and conversational, when a table was getting obnoxiously loud, he did request they take it down a notch. Which was considerate, even though we hadn't asked. The following afternoon post check out, I stopped in for a burger, it was surprisingly notably great! The bun used was memorable and the meat fresh and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our first dinner here. The setting is very nice and Sean, the maitre'd, was extremely helpful after hearing we had to get to a show after being delayed in traffic. We went for the breakfast buffet on Saturday. Overall, buffet was average. At $19 per person, I would have expected much more. Also I dislike forced waiter service (for coffee and juice mostly) at a buffet - this way you are forced to pay a tip while you personally do most of your own serving. I have been staying regularly at the Hyatt regency in New Brunswick now just because there are lot of food options due to its proximity to downtown. The hotel itself has a pretty good in house restaurant. The restaurant is expensive just as any hotel restaurant would be. However the food is really good. I usually have their amazing seafood chowder soup. Their entrees are usually above $20 but the portions are good. Room service is pretty expensive since they levy a 21% service tax on top of delivery charges. So its better to walk down and have the food at the restaurant to avoid those charges. This restaurant in the Hyatt hotel has some of the best food I've had in quite a while. Everything is well prepared, nicely presented and quite delicious! Service is friendly and measured. It's a darn shame that the Hyatt chose to squash this restaurant into a dark corner of the lobby, much too close to ball rooms, where you can hear parties and celebrations going on and with whom you have to share the bathrooms and hallways. Not even the whimsical decor of the restaurant can take away the fact that there is no natural light coming in and that it has a claustrophobic feel. A restaurant with food this good should be on the rooftop of the hotel, offering views of the Raritan River and an elegant, airy atmosphere in which to enjoy its delectable food. read more

The salmon was delicious but the rest of the salad was bland. I thought I'd come in for happy hour, but unfortunately they did not have one. Might be the only bar I've been to that doesn't have a HH. This place seemed very odd to me. Not really like a traditional restaurant, more like a couple of tables to the side of a hotel lobby. I was very disappointed since I looked up the menu online and when we got to the restaurant we were told that "duck fat fries" were no longer being served. We didn't try the made to order omelets, but the rest of the buffet was disappointing. There was cereal and fruit, pancakes thing filled with fruit stuff, potatoes, bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. The pancake thing was dry and hard and the sausage was hard as well. The coffee also wasn't very good. The service was also slow. I had made a reservation here for a party of 4, because there were no other local places open early for Rutgers' graduation yesterday. I came in a few minutes early only to hear the (I would assume manager) tell the crowd of people waiting that there would be about an hour wait, for they were too busy. I had inquired about my reservation, only to be told that I did not have one. I showed the gentleman my phone call from a few weeks prior, and he said that he would "shift things around and call in some servers". Ten minutes later, we were seated. Although we opted for the buffet option, I had to hunt down my server for everything (beverages several times, silverware, salt and pepper, the check, and one last time for her to take our credit card). There were probably 7 tables in the entire restaurant, most of which were also opting for the buffet. At $19/per person, drinks(coffee/juice) were included, the omelette station was great, berries were fresh, meats were okay, and the place itself was nice.
