Although some may consider the room to be a tad bit high, we found the whole experience to be well worth every penny.

First, a fire alarm at 2:30 am meant I didn't sleep the rest of the night (meanwhile, I had to check out the next day and drive 3 hours to get home. Maybe no big deal for a young person in good health, but for a senior with myriad health issues, this was the start of a bad experience that just kept snowballing. Next, the hotel's boiler broke and it took them all night and well past 9 am before it was fixed. Right at the time when everyone is trying to take their shower, but can't so they can't get out, check out or just wash their hands???? How does a business whose sole service is providing "hospitality" NOT have a backup boiler?? Not a perfect solution, but a backup could have been activated and some service restored while the main boiler was being repaired during the morning wake-up, get out and go hours. The hotel doesn't offer a continental breakfast, just an overpriced and reportedly mediocre restaurant onsite. They do offer coffee, but there was NO coffee when I checked, even though it was still well within the window when they purport to offer it--and no one in sight to ask if they could refill the carafes. So now, I've had it. All I want to do is get the hell out. But I have severe COPD so I have to lug my oxygen machine as well as regular luggage anytime I travel. I could'nt manage all of it by myself. But of course all TWO of the luggage carts were in use by able-bodied single thirty somethings or families with children. Wouldn't it make sense for the hotel to reserve at least ONE cart for people in wheelchairs or who have trouble BREATHING??? When I went back to retrieve my oxygen machine, the key card would not open the room door because it was just past checkout time, so I had to go back to the lobby and ask the front desk to temporarily reactivate my card key. Will I visit Clayton NY again? Absolutely. Will I stay at the Harbor Hotel again? Sorry to say, No.

And then i saw my wifes eyes in desperation. When she removed the covers of the bed to slide in she noticed stains on the sheet. Not just regular stains. What looked like shit and blood stains that was washed and put back in the bed. This place can't even afford to change the sheets once stained not to mention the bugs. We could not believe how this place was run down. So we packed up our things at 11pm to for somewhere else to stay all the while they said there will be no refund until we talk to manager in the morning which by the way he said he will only refund me one night of the 2 booked if i do not give a bad review. I cannot in good conscience have peple rely on my non comment about this place. Pleae please please find somewhere else to stay. Such a bad business!!

This property is right on the river with a beautiful view of the sunset each evening over Brockville Ontario. This property offers modern amenities including on property wifi. While staying here we've enjoyed relaxing by the riverside, camp fires, water sports including world class fresh water scuba diving, fishing, and trips over to scenic Brockville Ontario, a quaint little city just a 1 mile boat ride across the river (don't forget your passport, and a boat would help!). Late arrival for check in and trying to find your way around a target confusing maze of roads made more so by the mounds of snow everywhere. The separate building closer to the water has no signs indicating what entrance, and the for sticks so much we thought it was locked which had us wondering around trying all the other doors in the blizzard weather. You go into a building to leave the building for the courtyard area, which wasn't shoveled so we had to do so ourselves least the wall of snow fall into the room when the door was opened. Our heater made terrible noises that interrupted the sleep cycle so badly we left a day early, while still paying for all the days we reserved of course. Very much an older place with not a lot of upgrades, jacuzzi tub was nice and honestly the only reason the room was worth the price as the beds weren't very comfortable and made noises when you moved. Overall it will keep you dry and warm but so will anywhere else you pay to sleep. Next time I'll pay the little extra to stay in Clayton where there's actual places open and the hotel looked much nicer while not having to trek uphill to get to your room, hoping you don't have to climb stairs once you're there! Pros: hot water (so long as everyone else isn't showing at the same time), jacuzzi tub option, pretty view from courtyard Cons: noisy heater, noisy uncomfortable bed, weird layouts, confusing driveways, not a lot of upgrades, cold breakfast in a depressing little room, laid back customer service means you might be standing at the counter listening to people in a room you can't see talking while you wait to be noticed. Also be sure you check the door lock, our luck faced sideways when engaged which is the opposite of what I'm use to so we locked ourselves out of the room a few times.
