My boyfriend and I decided to get breakfast early Saturday morning which I thought would be a terrible idea. To my lovely surprise, there was seating for us at the bar. I also thought the service would be slow, but it was quite the opposite. The wait staff was super attentive and even made accommodations without issue. Also, the decor is 50s themed and feels like a blast from the past. After we enjoyed our delicious dishes, we walked out and saw a huge line waiting at the door. Safe to say we came at the perfect time but clearly this is one of the most popular breakfast spots in town!

This little luncheonette is nestled between stores on Main Street. It's a small place with about 7 booths, a counter and a bunch of smaller tables. It has a retro feel and brings back nostalgic memories. It's a very tight fit restaurant and it was very crowded on a Friday late morning, which means on a Saturday or Sunday there will be long waits. There are many staff members and I found they were not as attentive as I thought they should be. With that much staff, they should be filling coffee and seeing if we needed anything rather than having to raise my hand to get their attention. The restaurant was clean even though you could see its age. Let's start talking about the food- The coffee, served in large mugs, which I like very much, was strong and bold and satisfying. We had the Traditional breakfast which was three eggs, breakfast potatoes and toast. The over-easy eggs were cooked too long. The toast was burnt. The breakfast potatoes were terrible. They were just cut up potatoes cooked with some paprika. Not impressive at all. The Mediterranean Omelette was much better and the olives thrown in make this dish the standout of the meal. We ordered French Fries instead of the breakfast potatoes and these struck me as frozen, grocery store bought fries. They were soft and very disappointing. The three stars is truthfully due to the atmosphere. It was cool and I liked being in there...but not enough to come back.

Came for a lunch on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. We ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad Home fries or cubed potatoes and eggs poached in sauce.

Glen's Dinette in Babylon NY on Main Street , is a great place to have Breakfast, Brunch Or Lunch. Soups are delicious. Like Butternut Squash in session. They also have fresh muffins and perfect maid Tuscan poached eggs with the cooks/chefs making it to order the way requested. Dinette has been there many years with ever interested decor a license plates on the walls. There is a counter and there are tables inside and outside weather permitting. The parking is street parking bring quarters. ( holiday red bags over meters this season) Note: they are listed as Cash only- but do take credit cards now. Check hours before stopping by.

What a fun experience! Also saying Hi! to our waitress Toni! That chipotle chicken wrap was sublime!!!!! We ventured to Babylon for our son's annual train ride. Glenns has been around almost 75 years! Nostalgic but not stale! The food was great! Awesome Waffle/chix! Great Wraps and also the Reuben! Decent prices and you will leave full! Truly a great service with nothing but smiles! If you are eve in the area, trek down to Glenn's!!!

It's a very adorable old- fashioned diner with a huge menu of sandwiches and breakfast served all day. Awesome retro counter with bar stools. Outdoor seating is a plus. Staff is super friendly and accommodating! Three stars because of an extremely limited vegetarian menu. As someone who looks to limit dairy and eggs as well, there was only one item that I could find.. a garden salad. I understand it's a diner and my diet is not typically at this type of establishment, but usually I can find a roasted veggie wrap or grilled portobello sandwich. Would love to go back if they add an item or two.

I ordered a chicken salad of some kind with avocado and salad. My son ordered the mac and cheese - it was the highlight of dinner! Absolutely delicious. His friend got the Thai calamari which was decent until he got to the bottom. It was soaked in seasoning and too sweet. My daughter got the buttered pasta - children's portion. I'll let the photo speak for itself. It was drenched in butter. On the bright side - service was great, most of the meals were excellent, waffle fries on point. I mentioned the pasta and showed our server the pool of butter. He took it off our bill without even asking. So ... 4 stars - 5 stars for local business service and just lost the one star for the less than stellar meal and app. Will probably be back!

The Brixton is a beautiful restaurant with very relaxed and casual vibes. The word around town is that their drinks are awesome. What about their food, though? They originally would not seat us in the middle of the afternoon because most of the empty tables were reserved. We had to request to sit outside, which was empty, before they decided to serve us. Odd that they did not even offer that to us. The General Tso' Cauliflower was the only great thing served to us. It is incredibly crispy and flavorful. You almost forgot that you were eating a piece of vegetable at times. The Short Rib Brisket Sesame burger was shocking. $18 for two White Castles-sized sliders. It was easily consumed, and I was left much to be desired. This is most definitely an appetizer item, not an entree. The Chicken Waffle was good. Nicely deep-fried and packs a lot of flavor. The waffle looked dubious. If I had to guess, it might not be mad fresh to order. Essentially, it's 3 drumsticks/wings over a possibly frozen Eggo waffle. I would recommend a second dish if you are looking to get full. The Steak frites and Eggs Benedict were the final dishes served. It is hard to mess these dishes up, but the ribeye was nicely seasoned and cut up. The dishes were nicely displayed. Overall, this is just an OK experience. When the deep-fried cauliflower appetizer is the most memorable dish here, it is quite alarming. Portion sizes are on the small end, and none of the flavors for the entrees really stuck out. Perhaps I will come here strictly for the drinks next time.

This brings us to The James, managed by Joe Giannino under the fat-cat "Standard Hospitality Group," owned by Andrew Affa & Steve Squirtiro. It's hard owning a business and keeping it profitable but not when it's an almost algorithmic formula driven money extraction system so commonly found today. It's more difficult dining out in the world today when it feels like hospitality is vacating. Vining more about high-revenue than humanity. By very definition, I wouldn't call a good portion of the hospitality industry hospitality at all, and I certainly wouldn't say the James offers any. What I love about food is what it does for the soul, & what I've always loved about providing and caring for people is the sense of community; connection during good times and difficult ones alike; That's hospitality to me. Breaking bread is one of the most fundamental human gestures of generosity and true wealth. When you have it, you share it not squander it, not hoard it or treat it like it's something to take from others and line your pockets with. That's why this experience disappointed me so much, because I believe with the myriad of options, we must be far more selective and far more supportive of local and smaller family run establishments. Today, for a table they would still fill and never notice, I tried to cancel a reservation out of respect -- respect for the staff, for other guests, and for my damn self. Being charged a cancellation fee when a mom is sick on Mothers Day, is not hospitality, it is not empathy. It is greed disguised as brand experience self worth. I have supported the Arlo from this same restaurant group in the past and probably would have happily returned too, based on the menu alone, but coldhearted, rigid policies like this change how a place feels. There are many family-run restaurants that understand flexibility and empathy. That kind of environment matters to me, and this experience will forever make me decide to support those places instead. I've recently learned to name positive outcomes when something negative arises, so I believe this time, it's great that it only cost me fifty bucks to never give this group another dime. Typical corporate hospitality is more what the James can offer. These types of COMPANIES feed themselves, not the community.

Next, we walked upstairs to the large ballroom for the main meal. Dinner service started with a "Burrata Caprese" salad with a big hunk of creamy mozzarella served in a dressed salad with grilled bread. As for the dinner entrees, would you believe a choice of SEVEN entrees?? I kid you not -- seven entrees - Branzino, chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, Surf and Turf, and eggplant.
