I love the look and feel of the newer space. They have been in the new building a few doors down from their last location for I believe a year now. The place is brighter and the staff is still friendly and welcoming. I received a manicure and pedicure but feel like I missed out on a few steps. So the pedicure felt like it was 10 minutes versus the typical 20+ minutes. I was in my phone so this is my fault for not paying attention. I was patronizing a nearby by mail salon but opted to return to Glenside this time to check out the newer space. The other salon would file the dead skin off my feet, brush the toes, and then proceed to clean the toenail area. I did not feel any of that occur. So when it came time to get my nails done, I was focused. The technician missed the hot towel on the hands before adding lotion to wrap up my service so now I truly feel a few steps were missed during the pedicure process. I will return and next time pay attention to each step that is typically included in the service because the heels of my feet don't feel as soft as they typically do after a pedicure. read more

I came here last minute after I needed my nails. I love that they answered the phone because I headed straight over. I wish I got the name of the lady who did my nails but she was the first person on the left. She was so pleasant! Also I like my nails extremely pointy and she was able to get the perfect shape so yes yes shout out to her. Very satisfied with my nails. Also got a gel pedicure here and again a great experience. I walked in for a pedicure without an appointment. They seemed busy for a Friday and I thought I had to wait longer but I only had to wait 10 minutes. The pedicure took only 20 minutes and I enjoyed every minute of it! They work efficiently and do not waste your time. I recommend this place to everyone especially if you're looking for fast service. I'm not typically the one to complain about a service. But I've had such a bad experience when coming to Glenside nails. Maybe it's due to the fact that I keep getting Tracy but my nails have never been so weak. I have never in my life needed acrylic nails but I was forced to get 2 after 2 of my nails snapped (while wearing gel) to where I had to size them to the rest of my nails. Now an entire week later. All my nails have broken, snapped, chipped (regular polish). My nails have never been in such bad shape. I've been getting gel for years at my regular, but because this was near my school I switched. I have had gel for 4 months at a time and afterwards my nails were never this bad that they ALL SNAPPED. Would not recommend. read more

Lan was my nail specialist, and she took very good care of my nails that were very broken and fragile from my last set of nails. My Gel manicure is already chipping. Stopped by here to get a gel manicure on Saturday. I usually go somewhere else but they open at 9:00 AM and I needed to get my nails done before 10:00 AM that day. It is a cute little shop with cute interiors. When I walked in everyone kind of just starred at me and eventually asked me what I was getting done. Took a while for me to pick a color due to the fact that they didn't have any colors that were up to date. As I was getting a manicure, the manicurist was complaining that I keep hitting my nails too close to the Gel machine and I kept ruining it. but the reality of the fact is, the lady was leaning on it as she was polishing my nails and she was the one that kept moving it. I did not see a point of arguing back so I kept quite. Finally my nails were done and they were ALL BUMPY. I tried taking a photo of my nail but I couldn't get the bumpiness of my nail. I guess for a 20 dollar manicure, you cant really complain but seriously had my nails done for 3 days and my thumb is chipping already HORRIBLE experience, will never come back ever again! read more

I had my nails done before I went away on vacation, I had a dip. The top coat was off my first day so I had dull nails came home explained what happened and asked her to remove them. I used to love Glenside nails - it was the place that taught me to love dip powder nails. I've been going elsewhere for years, and now I know why. My nails look nice from a distance, but really look and you'll see imperfections that could have been prevented. The worst is that they use gel base and too coat on top of dip, making nails appear thicker than they are. At Day 5 I notice the gel coat peeling on some nails, and there is still excess color on my awful cuticles, which I was told would come off after a few hand washings. The worst $35 ever spent. I typically go to another nail salon and get the dip powder. But after doing more research on the dip powder I discovered for sanitary reasons no nail salon should be dipping everyone's fingers into the actual dip jar they should separate the powder. After learning this and that Glenside nails does do SNS nails I decided to go and give them a try. She asked me what was I getting I said a dip powder manicure which they should always be shaping your nails and cuticles with any nail service (come to fife out I was charged for dip powder and a manicure).At first I was excited because I saw her pour powder into a separate little tiny jar but that did not last because my fingers were then once again put into the same container that everyone is. Put off the other powder that she poured out of the main container after my fingers have been in it she poured back in the original jar. My fingers are also covered and not only the new red dip powder that I just received but also my previous Blacktip powder from the move removal process. Just like the other review on here I was told it should come off with washing my hands this is unacceptable I've never left a nail salon with my hands covered like this. I came to this salon specifically because of the SNS powder manicure, but it was a mistake. First, the powders they use are NOT SNS brand. The manicure I received was very thick and looked like acrylic nails. Equally, if not even more important, is that the location is not hygienic. None of the tools are single use, there is no obvious disinfectant anywhere, and there is little to no ventilation while you sit there. The fans that they have set up to dry your nails between powder coats blow excess powder in your face. I live in Center City and have frequented many nail salons in Philadelphia. Never really ecstatic about the results and especially not about the price. However- On a random trip to Glenside to visit a friend that lives up there, she said "you have to try my nail salon!" So we did. And that brought me to Glenside Nails- and thank goodness! Finally!! A nail salon that I LOVE! What I love most is my nail girl, Tweety. She's so talented, sweet and is the reason I make the 45 minute train ride now just to get my nails done. I randomly decided on stiletto nails and Tweety killed it! They look awesome (better than most Instagram pictures I've found!) the staff as a whole is very nice and the atmosphere is always relaxing. I will continue to take the train up special to see Tweety. It's absolutely worth the trip from anywhere. The prices are extremely fair, as well. Even with the $12 train ride- I still end up paying less than I would for a less-than-OK mani-pedi in the city. They do offer specials a few days a week, as well. This place is great! I went here after having a busy morning of appointments as a walk in. It was nice that they were able to accommodate me but the experience there was frustrating. Picking a color took 3 tries because they didn't have what I had chosen each time until the third time. Now I'm a pretty relaxed person and I would never hold that against the nail tech as it's not her fault. Her response however was that the other colors that I had chosen would have looked bad on me anyway.....strike#1 for her. The second was that as she was working on my nails she insulted my eyebrows and said I really needed a wax...strike #2. Now I get promoting the services offered and drumming up business but insulting the customer is NOT the way to go about it. I declined and she continued saying how much I needed it and how maybe then I could find a boyfriend- strike #3. After enough silence she realized I wasn't going to get anymore services from her that day. I will NOT BE GOING BACK. Just convenient location for me...Very inconsiderate and unorganized, you make an appointment with them and they cancel on you without even calling to reschedule, when they have your phone number to do so. She's so called checking temperatures and not even sanitizing the thermometer in between. After waiting an hour she tells me her machine is broke and go get cash. My coworker suggested this salon, my first time going the girl told me I didn't need a refill I guess she was tired she applied polish then realized I really needed a refill so she then decided to the refill. My son came in to ask a question, my son stuttering problem this chick begins to laugh. I was pissed so I again today for a refill I sat there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to at least speak and ask what do I need. That never happened they continued to play on their phones and laugh. Finally the one girl checks the books then ask me what I need to tell her then she goes and continues to play on her phone. I got a Mani-pedi for $55 and it is totally not worth the price!! First, my nail tech dropped the sponge she was using to scrub my feet on the floor and then continued to use it on my foot; I'm not a huge germaphobe but that definitely grossed me out. Next, I got the holographic gel on my nails that was extremely over priced. After I told my nail tech to only shape my nails in a square shape, she continues to file my nails down to short numbs, not what I wanted at all but it was my fault I didn't speak up. The was nothing special about the manicure, no massage, no lotion, just a too hot towel. Then when it finally came to the manicure it came out extremely thick and dented with my cuticles and the side of my nails flooded with the gel polish. My nail tech did not clean up my nails what so ever. The holographic color was beautiful but the application could have been improved. Also, I proved that they overprice the chrome/holographic powders because I just recently bought they same exact holographic powder they used for $7 that will last me about 50+ manicures! This was one of the worst manicures I've ever had. I went here after a few recommendations, however I was very disappointed. My friend and I did not have an appointment, the woman said that it was fine and they could take us we then waited over 30 mins to be taken. We opted for their "chrome" gel manicure. The woman who did mine, over cut my cuticles, and made the gel layers super thick, adhering the top of my nail to my skin as my nails are on the shorter side. She then began filing away the gel from in between my nail and skin, which was pretty painful, using the cuticle clippers to scrape it away as well. My friend had an equally bad experience. Her technician got up in the middle of her manicure to wax a walk ins eyebrows. She just stopped and got up. The technician also used a dirty "chrome" sponge and put a completely different color on her nails. Thus she had to re-do those nails. This manicure was $35. It has only been one day and my top coat has already chipped off. On another note the place was very unhygienic. They didn't disinfectant the work areas and there was no ventilation. I had the worst experience at this nail salon. I waited for 2 hours during which time no one acknowledged my presence. After patiently waiting for 2 hours, I politely asked one of the nail technicians did she have an idea when I would be waited on. She never looked up nor responded to me. However, another technician rudely spoke up and in a loud, angry disrespectful tone said, "I don't know when you will be waited on. If you want your nails done, you will sit down and wait". I calmly said that I and another lady had been waiting for 2 hours and just wanted to know if she could give me a status update in about how much longer we would have to wait. She again loudly stated, "if you want your nails done, you'll sit down and wait". I had to take a deep breath as it took every ounce of strength and control in me not to tell her a few choice words. I kept my composure and walked out. It was very apparent that this establishment did not need my money. It has sadly come to the point where certain groups of people no longer feel that they have to or should respect their patrons. I remember a time when they were begging for our business. I use to love coming to this salon and use to see Annie ,She opened another salon and the staff she has are rude and the quality of her s and s nails are not as strong , The last 2 times I got them done they cracked in less than a week.
