I went up to the Stein Eriksen lodge for a retreat with a small group; at the end of the day we all ate at the Glitretind. I was a little worried at first because we saw a tabled area with no signage so we asked where the restaurant was and we were informed that this area had both restaurants in it. That sounded a lot like a cruise ship experience so my expectations went way down. Even though the atmosphere was nothing spectacular, the food ended up being really really good. My group tried almost everything on the menu and there was nothing sub-par. By the end of the meal a few people commented about their dish being the best of that type of dish that they had ever had. The complimentary bread was exceptional and the butter was a lot more like a soft cheese than butter, which was well received at our table. I ordered the squash soup as an appetizer, but I tried the salmon, scallop and cheese plate appetizers and all were very good. I had the lamb dish and my wife had the filet and even though the lamb was very good, the filet was probably the best filet I have tasted, and I have tasted a lot of filets. Everything was prepared perfectly and looked great too. For dessert I had the peach option, which was good, but my wife had the Scotcharoo, which sounded truly horrible and low class on the menu, but it turned out to be the best dessert that I tried. The table ordered the hand made chocolates and they were exceptional, but they usually are at places like this. The service was good, but it was not exceptional. There were three people assigned to the table, but the same group seemed to be assigned to about half of the restaurant. I would recommend going during the off season because I would bet that this place gets packed. The waiting areas are immense though so even if you have to wait around, you will be very comfortable doing so. read more

First off the service is first rate for sure. Not very many restaurants in Utah that have service at this level. Front of the house manager Lawrence is very gracious takes time to talk to guests and make sure they are happy. they definitely pay close attention to the details. Those little details are what separates this place from the others. Now for food: Again the attention to detail with each dish is obvious. The in-house butter with Hawaiian Black Sea salt served with the basket of various breads craveable. Meat is cooked to perfection as ordered and each individual dish is a work of art. Major props to their pastry chef all desserts there come out looking way too good to eat but somehow the plate is sent back into each time. For two people it'll cost you 150 bucks with tip that's no alcohol but worth it for a special night. read more

We had brunch here for father's day. I have one word for you. BUFFALO SHORT RIBS! Wow! Amazingly tender, cooked in a fantastic sauce. And the au gratin potatoes hidden between the short ribs were creamy and soft but not mushy. I have to admit that I went back for thirds. They went all out for Father's Day. There was no way I could even taste everything they had. The buffalo was my favorite. The chicken was too salty. I also enjoyed the buffalo prime rib, several delicious and fresh salads (although the caesar could have used a bit more dressing). They had omelettes, crepes, mussels, crab, shrimp, and some fish that I did not try (although my husband loved the crab and shrimp). I thought it was adorable that they had a kids station with fruit kabobs, celery with peanut butter, chicken fingers (which were huge), hot dogs and macaroni and cheese. However, my kid didn't eat any of that. All he wanted was the pancakes with maple bacon inside. Obviously they were delicious because he ate two of them. And then there was dessert! So many cakes and pies to choose from. I picked several things to take back to the table to entice my son. He didn't eat hardly any of it. So I tasted each one. The chocolate football shaped cookie was meh. The individual lemon meringue tart was too sweet. The apple pie was delicious and the apples were perfectly crisp and soft at the same time. The individual key lime tart was amazing. And I really enjoyed the peanut butter cup nestled inside of a peanut butter cookie shell. The vanilla cupcake was unremarkable. I make way better cupcakes at home. My husband really enjoyed the brownies. I tried some sort of chocolate torte but it was way too chocolaty (never thought I'd say too much chocolate). This is, by far, the best lunch buffet EVER. We've eaten here on 4 separate occasions because of the excellent quality of the food and the absolutely impeccable service. Whether you ski in or drive to the restaurant, you are always greeted with graciousness and joy. Let's talk about the food. One word describes it: Fabulous. We always start with a bowl of delicious stew chock full of venison, wild mushrooms and the perfect seasoning. The salad bar includes baby greens, pasta salad, smoked salmon, assorted cheeses, shrimp, clams and mussels - all very fresh and delicious. Frankly you could just have a very satisfying lunch at the salad bar. But you won't because there's so much more deliciousness to enjoy. Real mashed potatoes, duck, beef, pork, sauteed veggies - all prepared fresh and presented in lidded warming trays. Made to order Asian cuisine is prepared right in front of you. And then there's the desert table. Oh my, where to start. Home made cookies, cakes, pies, creme brulee, fresh berries, fruit, real whipped cream. Beautiful presentation and delightful flavors. The restaurant overlooks the surrounding mountains with fabulous views and also offers outdoor dining around firepits. The first 2 times we ate here we actually met Stein Erickson. We have noticed one change, though. Since Stein Erikson's passing they now offer only local craft beers and mostly local wine. This was the only disappointment, since this was the only restaurant serving Stiegl beer in the US. But the local beer I had was very good and I'm glad this restaurant is supporting local vendors. An excellent meal deserves excellent service, and neither are lacking. Each dining party has a server and a sommilier, both obviously formally trained in international hospitality. They are a delight and make the dining experience even more special. And this is why we choose Deer Valley as our ski destination of choice. You won't find a better buffet anywhere for the price. We've eaten at the buffet at Caeser's in Las Vegas that cost twice as much and wasn't half as good. read more

Awesome service and a phenomenal meal. Great scallops, steaks, salads, and ... surprisingly great kids menu. We love to eat at at nice restaurants, but my kids sometimes have a hard time finding options that aren't to "weird." Also, it's fancy enough for the most formal attire but the rustic mountain setting and exposed log decor leave it comfortable for kids and for me to wear jeans. This place was perfect. It's worth the drive for the meal, but you might just get tempted to spend the night. read more

The views were beautiful, the company was fantastic. Unfortunately, the brunch was abysmal. We were in Park City for a family getaway during Covid. We stayed at Badgerland (a beautiful home in old town) and after a private chef Friday night and dinner at River Horse Saturday, our expectations were high. This was meant to be a highlight of our trip. Brunch at Glitretind at Stein Erickson's was supposed to be incredible. We certainly understood that Covid impacts everything, however, this was a disaster until the very end. We were served three courses. All of the first course came out cold (understandable for the fruit and cheese plates, but the egg frittata, bacon and French toast???) The second course, Beet Salad with Quinoa (edible), Caesar Salad (fine) and seafood platter (inedible eel, mussels, salmon and scallops) all cold, smoked (but extremely fishy - and not in a good way) was unappealing to even look at. Then the 3rd course came out, Ribs (Cold and Dry) Chicken (Cold) and extremely fishy Salmon was another disappointment. We sent everything back to be heated and they clearly realized we were not happy. The servers were very nice and brought a lot of dessert and to-go boxes and even said to take dishes the crime brûlée was served in with us. That small concession was unfortunately overshadowed by the $1,200.00 bill. We had 8 adults and 2 children and had 2 bottles of Prosecco $90 each and 5 Bloody Mary's at $20 each. Our dinner at River Horse was served in a private room, was amazing and cost less! I usually adhere to the premise that, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all," however, I painstakingly planned this trip and was so sad that an otherwise perfect weekend was marred by this disappointing dining experience. This restaurant is located in the Stein Erickson Lodge which is the top resort in the area. Therefore, people eat at this restaurant assuming that it will be exceptional. Unfortunately, I was one of those people and brought my family for dinner. This place is pretentious, very expensive and we found most of the food to be inedible. Specifically the sides, soup and "Cesar salad". Don't waste your time and money. Go to Main Street for much better options. read more

I tend to think of food as fuel. Give me something simple and hearty so I can get out and moving. When I pay a lot for food, my expectations rise faster than the price. If I'm paying more for food, then it had better be worth it. Glitretind exceeded my wildest expectations. We were waited upon by two servers. Our glasses were never empty. We had two small side dishes brought out to us "complements of the chef." My wife and I had just been married twenty minutes before, and the staff made us feel like royalty. Everything was breathtaking. The setting by the fire was magical. The presentation was outstanding. The flavors were perfect. It was clear that back in the kitchen were true artists who love their craft, and are masters of it. I still think of food as fuel. But when I want a meal that becomes an unforgettable event, I will return to the Glitretind. Outstanding. read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. The Sunday brunch was wonderful, as well as the atmosphere and ambiance. We sat outside on the deck on a warm sunny day in October. View of the mountains was beautiful. However, for me I think service is very important. Especially when your paying a couple hundred dollars for your meal. Service was terrible and disappointing. Our server did not take care of us at all. He disappeared half of the meal. Glasses weren't refilled, I asked for butter and after waiting 15 minutes I had to get up and ask another server to get it for me. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was brought to me cold and sloshed all over the sides, I couldn't believe they brought me a drink in that condition/appearance. I would give a higher review if it wasn't for service, which was unacceptable. read more

My exact words on our way to the Stein Erickson restaurant 'as long as I go to the Glitretind on my birthday, my birthday has been complete' unfortunately that wasn't the case last night. I have never had such a horrible dining experience in all my life. My boyfriend and I are very optimistic and try to be as positive as we can- the service was bad from the very beginning.. it took probably 15 mins to receive our water and another 15 to receive our drinks. Our main meal took 30+mins to come- after finishing our meal we sat there patiently waiting for the server to come and clear our plates, hoping to order dessert- after waiting another 30 mins with our empty plates in front of use we were tired of waiting around. I couldn't find a manager or anyone insight to help us, I ended up walking up to the hostess stand and asked her to grab our check- I then returned to our seat after waiting an additional 10 mins without any help, we put some money down and walked out. I cannot believe the lack of service at this restaurant, we've been here several times and these past few times have been very disappointing. I observed several other tables receiving the exact same service, as well as over heard other tables getting impatient with the service. It was a little bit of a flop to my 30th birthday. If I was a customer of Applebee's, I can assume I would get better service there. When you spend. $250+ between two people you expect for there to be a certain level of service. Had a great experience from the start with our coats being checked to being seated promptly. A nice cozy atmosphere with a very attentive staff. After we ordered the main course, we were served complimentary bread that comes with soften butter and salt. Great way to start a meal. Ordered the elk and it came out fantastic, and cooked to perfection. From the potatoes to the brussel sprouts and the pomegranates, everything complimented the protein. My husband and I arrived in Park City for the Thanksgiving weekend and had made reservations for my Wednesday birthday dinner for just for the two of us at Glitretind, after reading positive reviews in several sources. We were warmly greeted at the desk by the chef, himself, and quickly seated by Ms. Schmidt, a manager The dining room was empty at 6:30 and we were offered our choice of several tables. As soon as we were seated, our sever, Bruno, greeted us and offered us beverage suggestions and a wine list. We chose beer and wine, respectively, with Bruno's assistance and Ms. Schmidt, also the sommelier, approved of our choice and regaled us with a story of her meeting the owner of the Alsatian vineyard that produced it. We were both pleased with our choices. So far so good. We were approached by another server, Sarah, to order, but we asked for a few minutes to enjoy our cocktails. Bruno then came over and answered questions about the menu and we ordered. A server brought over fabulous bread basket including foccacia, a wonderful lavash and two other types, all fresh and delicious. Up until now everything had gone great. We really anticipating the delivery of our food. After my disappointing salad was delivered we waited and waited for entrees for around 40 minutes. The resteraunt was getting more busy, but it was not slammed and there were at least 5 employees on the floor at all times...plenty to service 5 or six tables, mostly deuces. Food: -The Amuse Bouche A 3/4-inch square cracker with a dab of trout mousse on it. Tasty, but laughably small. -Baby Romaine Panzanella This salad sounded great in the menu description...Baby Romaine with Summer tomatoes, Ciabatta croutons Parmesan Dressing and Balsamic gelee. Flat, wet Romaine leaves covering a mound of tasteless chopped red an yellow tomatoes (summer tomatoes in November?) The Ciabatta croutons were unseasoned and soggy. The dressing, a mayonnaise-textured blob, was smeared on the side of the plate and was strongly anchovy-flavored. Gelee. I know its trendy. Slimy texture and strong-vinegar flavor. All Wrong. -Berkshire Pork Tenderloin with Pulled Pork Shoulder and Carolina Sauce My husband is a pork fan, in all of its iterations, so this entree looked like a winner. The tiny pork tenderloin pieces --about 4 ounces were tender and cooked perfectly. The pork shoulder was more of a bread dressing, containing some shredded pork -very dry and with very little flavor of the "house made" Carolina sauce that the server had mentioned. A mound of dark mixed beans, beside the pork, were unevenly cooked and unseasoned. A large round bacon flecked cornbread muffin was ordinary and dry. If was an attempt at authentic Low-Country cuisine, it really fell short of the mark. Unfortuntely, my entree, The Buffalo Flank Steak and Brown Gulf Shrimp was even worse than the pork.I love buffalo tenderloin and I understand that a flank cut will be a little less tender. The Steak was tough and stringy tout shrimp were placed on top. A serving of small- dice sweet potatoes were scattered on the side of the grits. I could have sworn they were carrots. All in all. Very disappointed with this dish At this point the wait staff disappeared for some time. Not one of all the attentive servers every came to our table once our entrees were served to check on us. Aftter that this service staff virtually ignored us. About 15 minutes later they brought over a small Neopolitan- colored, waxy item with a candle stuck in it. Fudge? This is a 4.8 stars for me. It ranks in the if I'm in Salt Lake City area I would drive the 30 miles if I wanted a nice dining experience. Pros: ~ Staff is beyond reproach. Classically attentive without being overbearing. Informing about dishes without talking down to the customer or talking up the dish. ~ Formality to meet fine dining criteria without being intimidating for 1st timers. Separate Bread plate & butter knife. Replaced all used utensils and plates between courses, scraped off bread crumbs. Asked about 1st bite. ~ Food is excellent. Breads are done right, butter and salt options are good. Portions are right sized. This is a unique pleasure for me. I left full without being bloated. In all fine dining places I have eaten at the food is over portioned. Great for going glutton, not great after meal / next morning. ~ Value is there. The only other place I can think of off the top of my head that is close is Bouchon in Vegas. Cons: ~ Not a con, but more expectation setting for foodies. The restaurant itself will be talked up by locals. It is an excellent restaurant, but it is on par for a nice dining experience. I think the chef, staff and management does a wonderful job with the location and using as much local product as possible. There's also a price point / market issue. The place just can not charge $20 an appetizer and $50 a main like many places in larger metropolitan areas can. read more

Amazing. Service started off slow but improved dramatically as the night went on. I had the Iberico chops and it was literally one of the best dishes I've had in years. Underfed and overpriced. Peenkytoe Crab and Mussel soup was orange water with minimal amounts of either crab or mussel - after finishing the crab/mussels in about 3 spoonfuls, I stopped eating because the broth had no flavor. Opted for the Chef Special - Australian Salmon - for the main course; the fish portion was slightly larger than a kipper and tasted like it had been poorly blackened...the 6 mushrooms that accompanied the salmon were nothing to get excited about. Dessert was upside down rhubarb pie - and tasted like a kid's experiment with their Easy Bake Oven had gone terribly wrong. The only redeeming part of the meal was the bread. I would not waste either the time or the gas going there again, even if the food was free (and it wasn't - it was high three figures!!!). Atrocious experience. read more

My wife and I come up to PC quite often, and our favorite place to eat is the Glitretind. I will eat here until I grow old, I've never had a bad experience. The menu always has you guessing, which creates a sense of mystery, and sends your taste buds on an adventure that leaves lasting memories. I definitely recommend all to give it a try. I just realized that I've eaten at 25+ Park City area restaurants over the past six months, so I decided it was time to write some reviews. This review is for Glitretind, which is their main high end restaurant. The highlights are an incredible view of the ski slopes and impeccable service. The menu was limited - or you might say 'well-curated' depending on your mood - but the food was delicious and would satisfy serious foodies. The bread basket was great fun. Prices were in line with other high-end places in Park City. However, there are other high-end restaurants in the area that I would choose over Glitretind for a full meal. But I might return for cocktails and appetizers on the deck, just for the view. read more

The restaurant was just okay. The decor is quite old and the food is mediocre. The menu items were limited and fairly bland. Dinner was expensive but not satisfying at all, but the service was good. I would only recommend the place if you are taking your parents or maybe grandparents. Otherwise, head over to main street in deer valley where there are so many great restaurants. read more

Went to the thanksgiving dinner buffet. The food, while pricey, was very good and well priced. There were a number of very tasty and well-made and presented dishes. The only negative was the decor. The dining room was dark and had very low ceiling. I suppose it's meant to be "cozy" but I felt the overall effect was more like a fern bar in the 1980's. The whole lobby, bar and restaurant are in desperate need of a make over. The food, however, was excellent. read more

Truly the best Sunday brunch I've ever had. Better than the grand America which is my favorite. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and even though I was full I couldn't stop getting up for more!!!! The largest spread and the freshest food by far. Fish, eggs, salads, classic breakfast dishes like waffles and crepes and omeletes made to order, coffee, mimosas and a whole dessert bar you easily easily could spend hours here soaking up the ambiance, excellent service and breath taking views of the top of deer valley mountain. What a fabulous find! Glitretind is located inside the lovely Stein Ericksen Lodge in Park City, Utah - nestled inside the Deer Valley Ski Resort. I was here on a rather warm and sunny early afternoon, surrounded by snow on the slopes. The scenery from this lodge is beautiful, and the patrons were all adult, and very well-established individuals, based on the people I had the opportunity to meet while dining there, by way of introduction. There was an outdoor patio dining area that was rather large - and on this day, it was full of happy skiers, rejuvenating themselves with good drinks and good food, after a half day of skiing. We were seated indoors in the bar/dining area, which was also rather "open" because they left all the french doors to the patio opened. There was also a huge dining area towards the back of the restaurant - which was about 50% occupied when we first entered at about 1 pm. The bar area, which was viewable from where we were sitting, was comfortably occupied by people having a drink while watching college basketball on TV. The menu is rather simple, and noticeably costly, but given the location and the atmosphere, it wasn't surprising. My friends, who had brought us here, also knew of the "skier's buffet brunch" that was offered here until 2 pm daily. I believe the cost was approximately $25/pp. I am not positive but I do not think drinks were included at this price. After skimming the menu, and then taking a stroll to the back of the restaurant where the buffet was set up - 4 out of 5 of us opted for the buffet which looked fabulous, while one friend ordered the hamburger off the menu. (The hamburger actually was really big, and was juicy with all of the regular sides you would expect, but it IS a $18 hamburger... ) We started off with drinks, and I'd highly recommend ordering their Grey Goose Martini, "extra extra dirty", the way I like it. It comes just perfectly "dirtified" with blue cheese olives. Yum. Another friend ordered a Bloody Mary that looked great as it was being delivered to another table. It looked amazing, with a huge stalk of celery, green olives and a huge slice of lemon and lime - but he said it was a bit too "peppery" for his taste. It looked like they also had a wide selection of beers off the tap as well as a very good drink menu. For you boys, there was a TV located in the bar area, which was viewable from our table, that was playing college basketball, and being utilized by happy skiers who were taking a break while drinking. The buffet selection was great. The salad and bread choices were slim compared to the world's best buffets, in my opinion, but good enough. If I recall correctly, they had a seafood salad, caesar salad, and a pasta salad. Their selection of fish appetizers, like lox and sardines, were ample, and cheese selection great. Two soups were offered piping hot, including a FABULOUS Clam Chowder, and a venison chili which I did not try. I like chili but this was rather odd-looking, it looked more like paste than chili. A friend tried it and said it was decent. Their entrees were particular delicious - - consisting of a juicy baked chicken dish, a flank steak and couscous entree (holy cow, this was GOOD), as well as a salmon baked to perfection, amongst other entrees. Also - fresh shrimp cocktail, lobster claws, and steamed clams were also available, and truly delicious. That day's carved meat selection was a pork loin, but I was too busy trying everything else to actually give it a taste. Glitretind also offered a "made to order" Fajita stand, where you could pick and choose how you would like your wrap made - with a good selection of jalapenos, sour cream, guacamole, etc. During our numerous trips to the buffet, we found ourselves looking forward to the dessert portion as the offerings on the dessert table were impressive, to say the least. I found myself so full by the end that I honestly didn't even want to consider dessert, but given what I saw, I knew I had to try. I brought a selection of flan, a lethally dark cake called "Chocolate Indulgence" (I think that's what it was called?), and a creme brulee. I took a nibble out of all three... holy sweets, indeed. I've had better creme brulee, but the flan was excellent - and that cake was so rich that one bite could kill off a weaker person. It was like a true chocolate explosion in your mouth.... nice. There were at least 20-25 different kinds of desserts offered. All in all, Glitretind is a great find, nestled inside a prestigious ski resort, offering an excellent aura, mood, and food. I'd go back here in a heartbeat when back in Utah, and highly suggest you give it a try. OT? More like OG! This guy provides the upmost excellent service we have ever had. Truly exceptional thanks to OT and his team. Celebrating my birthday they made sure it was nothing short of perfection. From the greeting to the main course all the way to departure, this was an experience, not just a dinner. Food was incredible. Every dish exceeded my expectations and pallet. Couldn't imagine a more perfect dinner. read more
