YELP SHORT ANSWER: No... one of the worst sushi experiences I have ever had. Maybe a bad day but guessing on our visit the people working there hated us for their own reasons and it showed. Being there at 4:30pm and being the first and only customers we were greeted with 15 minutes of being ignored with some guy behind the counter being a dick. Not sure what the problem was but it became very apparent they did not want to serve us and hoped we left. Some other guy came up finally and took our order and got us water. LOCATION: very nice, located on the lower lobby of the Renaissance Resort. FACILITY: excellent, clean, and authentic similar to a small bar you'd find in Japan. MENU: resort expensive but we had a few days to enjoy relaxing at the resort. I was not so concerned with the cost, rather the customer service and the quality of the food both not happening here. FOOD PREP: ordered hamachi sashimi, $26 and plate appeared with such a small amount it looked like a joke. About 1/3 the size of nearby Japanese restaurants. FOOD QUALITY: some of the worst, fishy smelling hamachi I have ever had. Maybe the guy was trying to kill us. It had so much lemon juice on top it did not even taste like hamachi... one and done we did not finish the small portion served just paid our bill and walked away, yes we did leave a nice tip. LIBATIONS: we did not try here, thankfully. WAITSTAFF: terrible, if you trained someone to be a jerk, well the lead guy must have graduated with honors. OVERALL VALUE: so not worth it and I know that is not the intent of this great resort but they have a serious F&B staffing problem as least at Glo Sushi on that day. TIP: avoid unless they get their stinky fish act together. I must add, Autumn who was kind enough to check us out was a great ambassador to the resort and brand, she was great and we followed her to The Place and ended up having a great time with great food. read more

Let's get straight to the sushi. I ordered two rolls - the California Roll and the Red Dragon roll. Both were freshly made in the spot. The flavors were excellent and it was soft but not too soft or flimsy. I was able to eat the sushi with chopsticks and none of them fell apart. Great place! read more

My boyfriend and I went to Glo Sushi at the recommendation of a friend that lives in Palm Springs. We parked in valet and went inside. At first we did not see the Sushi bar and asked the bar staff where it was. It turns out, it's in the lobby area and the servers are the bar staff. Kind of an odd feeling and no ambiance. We sat in the lobby area where they said for us to sit and waited for someone to come and take our order. After sitting there for 15 minutes, no one ever came over to say hello, take a drink order or give us a menu. We were completely ignored. After waiting a little bit longer, we decided to leave and go to a different sushi bar. I can't speak on the sushi quality as we never got a chance to order any but I definitely would not go back after that experience. read more

This review is for our group's experience last Sunday, November 5, 2023. Our daughter got married the day before at Indian Wells Golf Resort next door and our party stayed at the Renaissance Esmeralda, wherein we reserved and utilized 60 room nights. Our daughter and her now husband stayed at the Governors Suite for 3 nights. Our party came in at around 7 pm in a group consisting of 19 people. We were sat at the two large tables. It is not a restaurant, per se, since the tables are located right next to the bar area of the hotel, and the sushi restaurant is actually just a sushi counter. There was only one server that took down all of our groups orders. The food was your run of the mill sushi and sashimi. Not impressive at all although pricier than most sushi restaurant because it's located inside Renaissance Esmeralda. The service wasn't up to par as can be expected at a classy hotel with very expensive rooms. The lone server took orders and did not take them well. We were wondering why orders from the other table, which were taken after ours, came in before our order. When we asked the server, he was unapologetic and showed us what he had written which was missing our tables orders. By this time, we have been sitting and waiting for our orders for over an hour and a half. It was at this point that my daughter asked the lone server to get a manager for us. Two of the guests in our party owns restaurants in the SoCal area, and were very surprised that the facility was not equipped with enough employees to handle customers, considering that there was another large group attending a conference at the same hotel. The manager came and apologized for the error and confusion, got two other servers to assists in getting the correct orders out to our starving group, who at this time, have been sitting close to two hours waiting for our orders. The manager provided us with 4 bottles of Prosecco to enjoy while waiting for our food. The chef also came out and offered our party a dessert tray for after dinner, which was a nice gesture on their part. However, this doesn't absolve them of the ill-equipped personnel unable to handle a large groups orders. My son-in-law was still nice enough to give a $40 tip on top of the service charge. We stayed at the Hyatt next door and decided to try it out. It's not at all like what I expected. We were expecting a more intimate restaurant, but instead sat in huge hotel lounge area which I didn't mind. The service was a bit slow. I understood it was a Sunday night and they probably didn't anticipate the number of customers, but somewhat annoying having to wait 5 minutes for anyone to stop by. The food was food. This review is about the "Glo" Lounge as a whole. Its got it all! When staying at the Renaissance, why leave to other restaurants? This place has sushi and fine American cuisine, plus gorgeous ambiance, and live music on the weekends. We started our meal off with edamame and some sushi. The Philadelphia roll was fresh and perfectly portioned. My husband enjoyed the rainbow roll. Next, my husband had the Asian inspired sweet and spicy shrimp. It was crispy and had just the right amount of spice that he loves. We also split the chimichrrui skirt steak with truffle fries. OMG!!!!! That steak. Its been almost a week since I've eaten that, and I am still thinking about how tender and juicy it was. One of the best steaks I have ever had. And I order steaks everywhere. The fries were also delicious and a huge portion. Such an amazing dish. I can write a whole paragraph just on that dish alone! We topped our meal off with a nice bottle of white wine, and also enjoyed a craft cocktail nightcap. My husband had a side car, and i had the French 75. We really enjoyed the Latin guitarist, Alex Santana. He really set a romantic but fun tone to the night. Also the lighting is gorgeous as well as the decor, so much so that my husband and I took a photo that we are planning to print and put in a frame. We were there the night the Dodgers clenched their spot to place against the Red Sox in the World Series! Such a fun crowd! Overall, this place is a true resort dining experience. I was impressed that the Renaissance would have a sushi restaurant in the desert! The fish was decent, pretty good. They even had a tender toro which was slightly redder than I've seen. If you're staying at the hotel, you gotta hit this up. If you're not staying at the hotel, I don't think it deserves a visit. If you're at the pool, they offer spicy tuna rolls which is kinda nice. My one complaint is that the rice is cold and a little tough. read more

Recently stayed at Renaissance Esmeralda with my boyfriend who happen to be frantic over sushi, to the point that our usual dating nights are cosist of visiting sushi restaurants. Of course he was craving sushi, so happen to find out there was a sushi restaurant inside the hotel when we were checking in at the front desk. We got there around 7pm, not really a busy night since it was weekday, sat down and ordered some platters and rolls. As soon as we took a bite out of a sushi roll, we knew, it was the best sushi we ever had. It was top notch, fresh, delicious, and very pretty in its presentation. We also had great conversation with the sushi chef, he gave us some appetizers on the house! Great service! We will def return to there if we happen to visit some time in the future. It can seat ~10 people, making it a small and casual little place. The bar in the back is always poppin', but it pops at a moderate volume, making it a really nice atmosphere. Small menu boasts sashimi, nigiri, rolls, and some simple fancy rolls. I was expecting the worst (because Palm Desert is a desert), but the fish! So fresh! And I don't even like sashimi that much! They apparently get their fish from LA. The sashimi platter had snapper, tuna, salmon, white tuna, octopus, and other yummies. The best part is that because it's right next to the alcohol bar, you can pair your meal with any kind of alcohol you desire: sake, beer, cocktails, you name it! Surprised this place has low reviews but after reading closely they are all because of something other then the sushi. The sushi is great. Very fresh and delicious. I had the RenlW roll and Hawaiian roll which were excellent. Hawaiian roll had fresh papaya and mango on top and RenlW had spicy tuna and cucumber with seared tuna on top. If you want to eat with a crowd(only seats 10) or want ambience ( it's near an exit) then this may not be a good choice. Eh... We were staying at the Hyatt Grand Champions (on the same property) and I called the concierge at the Esmeralda at 8:45 pm to make sure the sushi bar was open until 10. She cheerfully assured me that it was. So we took the 'golf cart limo' there and arrived at the Sushi bar at about 9:10. There was one couple at the small sushi bar that seats about 10-12 maximum. The Glo Sushi bar is situated in the quite nice and quite large atrium of the Renaissance Esmeralda Hotel. The atrium has a comfortable, open feel and the bar is partially tucked away just to the right of the main Glo Bar -- but still really part of the large atrium. We walked up to the sushi bar and asked if we could sit down. The chef glared at us and said, "No! No more sushi for tonight!" We were dressed causal, but nice. I had on designer jeans and a button/collared shirt with a Ferragamo leather jacket, and Jina was wearing a dress with a light sweater over it. We have no tattoos or avant-garde body piercings. I did not think we appeared either too bizarre or unable to pay the bill! Regardless we were shooed away as if we were riffraff asking to sit in the prime seats at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby! I just had to confront the concierge, so I went upstairs to find her. She remembered my call and was most apologetic. Her response was that the Sushi chef was temperamental sometimes... So, she recommended that we sit outside and order appetizers from the main Glo Bar. Which we did. And we had a nice view of the sushi bar the entire time. Well, our lovely friend, the sushi chef, was clearly in view as we drank drink after drink, and ate appetizer after appetizer. We had figured he had closed the bar early because he had somewhere special he had to go. Oh, but no! He spend almost two hours cleaning every surface of that bar at least three times. Every windows was rubbed, every surface was sprayed multiple times. We left at almost midnight and he as still there making sure every surface was cleaned and rubbed -- although it already had been. So, he could not spend 15 minutes making us a few sushi rolls, but he could stay "on the time clock" and literally do essentially nothing for hours??? And he had to shut down the sushi bar almost one hour before closing time? If I was the owner or manager of this bar, I would not be pleased! I was there on 4/10/12 and the concierge that night can supply supplemental proof!! I gave this restaurant one star for the amazing ability of the chef to ignore patrons who were there on time, and then sat there doing nothing for hours. Not cool. read more

Don't order the platter - which is good value but the some fish were not good quality on Sat evening. I say stick to rolls which were better - hid the inferior quality fish well by providing good veggies and ok sushi rice. If you are stuck at the hotel - then go ahead.
