I made the long drive from O'Fallon, MO to O'Fallon, IL to meet a kind fellow beer enthusiast that snagged me some "Whales" he found on a road trip. It sure is far away. Around 50 miles, but it was a great bar. It is a lot like ITAP, but with a small built in food element, and a few beers that aren't for distro on the MO side. The bar was great, the beer was great, and the food was okay. The chef screwed up my order, but I didn't care enough to complain. He gave us a quesadilla instead of a sandwich, but I like both so I didn't mind. It was just okay though, nothing to write home about. If you are anywhere close to here though, it is definitely a great beer bar to check out if you want to broaden your palette. read more

No place like it within reasonable distance. The bartenders have a great knowledge over both the tap beers and the vast bottle selection. It's a not-so-hidden gem near the interstate. Go before the after work crowd gets there and you can have great conversations about quality beer and you can sample seemingly unlimited quantities before you commit to a pint. read more

Went on May 31st Memorial Day. Wasn't busy at all for happy hour M-F 4-7. Happy hour was select beers were $4. No happy hour food specials. Very friendly bartenders and very good selection of craft beers, both local and across the country. Nice big bar and also good-sized patio. Plenty of seating indoors. Menu primarily consists of different types of grilled cheese sandwiches among other items. We both got grilled cheese sandwiches and they were fantastic. I had the West Chicago and my wife had the O'Fallon. Lots of ingredients and lot of cheese - really very good and satisfying, and reasonably priced. We also split a side order of tater tots for $4 and it was enough for two as a side. Spicy mayo dip for the tater tots was very good. I gave four stars only because the beers that were not on happy hour were $8 for a pint, which I thought was higher than market for craft brews. We will definitely go back for happy hour and order beers only off the happy hour list. read more

I love going out and trying new places and I have come to global brew twice. The first time was awesome. The atmosphere was perfect and I was intrigued by the variety of beers to try. However, as a frequent bar-goer, I believe that the bartenders make or break the scene. Tonight was my second night at global brew. Once again, the night seemed great except that the bartenders weren't very friendly. They weren't very welcoming and every time I asked for a beer I felt like I was bothering them. Everything else was great, I just believe that the bartenders should probably drop some of the attitude. read more

We used to love this place and would visit 1-2 times a week but over the last several months the service has declined dramatically. We used to get greeted immediately when we walked in and waited on right away while reading the beer menu on the wall (it was the standard for all customers). Now, you are lucky if a server even looks your way when you walk in and if you sit down to order, it takes 10 minutes to get served. Gone are the days of customer service and servers who know the beers. We walked in last Thursday and couldn't get one of two servers standing at the bar to acknowledge us or take our order. One was writing new beers down on the removable signs and the other was just watching. How about you put down the chalk, serve the customer and then go back to updating the signs. Serving customers is your first priority and good customer service is how you bring people back. There are several craft beer places to pick from so you separate yourself with customer service. After the servers didn't acknowledge us, we finally went straight to the bar where the bartender (Allison?) took our order and then took another 10 minutes to get our beers to us. She poured my beer and let it sit on the rack while she poured four other beers for customers and rang up two people. Once she finally got around to bringing me my beer, she didn't say sorry for the delay or anything. She was a great server months ago but her attitude has changed and is a lousy bartender who could care less about customer service. This never happened when Patrick was around. Save your money and visit a local brewery who actually works for your business and cares about customers. read more

I am not a big beer or alcohol drinker but I appreciate that this place was varied enough to even have something tasty for someone like me. I had the frambois, which is a raspberry beer. It has a tart and sour taste with basically no beer taste. It's not something you want to binge on, however, it's very good! The watermelon beer was interesting a favorite among my group. This is a pretty open and relaxing Global Brew, as compared to the Edwardsville location. I like this one much better with it's open patio and spacious sitting area. For a Saturday night, this wasn't overly packed or loud. The patio has some seating and is dog friendly. It has a fire water fountain, which was fun but hot for this summer night. It's very clean with clean bathrooms. As far as bar-type places go, this was very pleasant for someone who does not like the typical bar scene. We spent about $24 on 4 beers. read more

Never beeb here before, never been to any location. Read the reviews and was intrigued. It was also recommended by friends from the Air Force base. The first thing I noticed was the sign on the window for HB Eats. Started with a beer; I put myself in the hands of the bartender. I asked for dark and not hoppy. He poured a Civil Life American Brown, it was fabulous. Then I went over to the corner where the guy makes the sandwiches. This was my second visit. The first time I was there our waitress was awesome. She made suggestions, let us try samples before we bought, brought us out a binder of food we could order. However, my second visit was disappointing. The waitress didn't know anything about the beers on draft. I had to ask her for her recommendation and she suggested I buy what I normally drink which they sell in bottles?!?!?! Why would I go to global brew if I wanted to do that? She seemed very disinterested in her job. When we asked about food, we were given Bella Millano's menu. I had to ask her for the binder that I only knew about because of my previous visit. If I would have known I had to google all of the beers on their menu I would have not went back. read more

If you're looking for an awesome beer selection, this is your place. That's the only good thing that can be said about the place. By far some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. There were at least 3 bartenders behind the bar at all times, and I still had to wave one down to get a beer, each and every time. They are apparently unaware of the concept of scanning the bar from time to time to see if anyone needs a drink. It appeared as though the staff were playing some kind of a game, "let's see who can be the most rude and least friendly tonight" kinda thing. Ordered a beer and when I got it, it did not taste very cold. It tasted as if it had been sitting out for 20 minutes. I asked our waitress to get another one because I didn't want to drink it and she said she would have to ask her manager. After 10 minutes she never came back so i asked another waitress to help and she said she would just pour me another beer. As she took the beer both waitress's and bartender were standing there and I saw the bartender roll her eyes and they came back and said they couldn't do anything. After I said well give me a refund I don't want it anymore then they came back and gave me another beer which was not much better but still drank it anyway. How this was handled was very poor customer service and I will not be returning to this location. Horrible customer service. I frequent the edwardsville location often and really enjoy this bar, so this was a huge disappointment. read more
