They've got a whole host of fine Vietnamese food, though my family and I enjoy stopping by for the fried tofu and tofu pudding. It seems other folks who visit often order in advance for pick up. Recently I ordered six servings of tofu pudding. The man behind the counter spoke with me using Cantonese, and once the order was placed worked deftly to package all the pudding into plastic to-go containers along accompanied with six smaller containers full of ginger syrup. Expertly, the plastic bags also had a cardboard as a base for the containers to minimize the chance of spillage. When I mentioned wanting to use a credit card, he balked at the idea since there's a surcharge, but I laughed and said it was okay. I was looking for Jong, which is sweet rice wrapped in tea leaf and mixed with pork belly thousand year egg and beans. Dim Sum restaurants have it untied, but I like to steam my own. This store had a variety of these rice tamales and almost anything from Asia can be found here, especially tofu. The wrapping of the Jong was not with cotton twine or string, but an elastic looking cloth that reminded me of a strap. I'm not sure how it's going to steam, but will likely take the elastic string off and replace with cotton, in case there are chemicals in the material. I actually come here pretty often, mainly for the fried mushroom tofu. For about $5 you get a box with probably 15+ pieces which I think is a great deal and it's pretty tasty. I usually just toss it in the air fryer at home, make a quick nuoc cham, and it turns into a really solid snack or light meal. They also sell a bunch of premade Vietnamese foods similar to what you'd find at other Vietnamese spots around the SGV. I also sometimes get their fried bananas. They add sesame seeds into the batter which I like because it gives it a nice flavor, but they can be a bit soggy. One thing I've noticed is if you come later in the day the tofu is usually sold out, so it's better to come earlier if you want it. This V K Food Products is located on Valley Blvd. inside of a strip plaza in Rosemead. I like they have many tofu selections and Vietnamese desserts. I bought the cold tofu pudding and a BBQ meatloaf plate. However, the cold tofu pudding wasn't smooth enough. After our go to spot for fresh tofu was sold out we drove over to VK to try theirs. It was surprisingly busy that afternoon. Parking lot was full but we found a spot on the street in front. Besides the fresh tofu we pulled out of the refrigerator, they had many tofu options, Banh mi sandwiches and other Vietnamese dishes. At the counter the cashier informed us if we got one more then we would qualify for a free tub. Very nice of her. After paying in cash she also included two small tubs of a very gingery syrup. I had a very disappointing experience at V K Food recently. I came in specifically to buy a gallon of hot, fresh sweet soy milk. The product I wanted was literally sitting on the shelf directly in front of the employee at the register. When I asked for it, he repeatedly told me to get the cold soy milk from the refrigerator against the wall instead. I explained multiple times that I wanted the hot, fresh soy milk that was right in front of him. Instead of listening, he continued insisting that I take the refrigerated one. After several minutes of arguing over something that should have taken seconds, I felt pressured into buying a product I did not want. The most frustrating part was that the item I requested was within arm's reach the entire time. Rather than providing the product I specifically asked for, the employee chose to argue with a paying customer and make a simple purchase unnecessarily difficult. The attitude I received came across as dismissive, arrogant, and completely indifferent to customer satisfaction. Good customer service starts with listening to customers. If a customer requests a product that is available, there should not be a debate about it. There are plenty of places throughout Southern California that sell similar products. Businesses should never assume customers have no other options. I support businesses that treat customers with respect, and unfortunately that was not my experience here. At V K Food Products, it is always very recently. Sometimes it was just made seconds earlier. Maybe in the morning, it is from the night before. I can't say that I care, detect any difference, or have asked. I can guarantee it will be some of the freshest soy milk, tofu, or soy pudding you've ever had. I've tried a few of the other items each time I come here. They have all been delicious. Many items are buy five get one free or something. Whether it's a good deal, who can say? Still, it's an excuse to stock up. I am always surprised by my total bill. It is usually a third of what I expect. They have some fresh-cooked food and many room-temperature options. Some are vegetarian, but many have shrimp or pork. The first time I came here, they had packaged eggplant and tofu that I have looked for every time since. If V K Foods reads this, please make it again. It's a small store with many people, but everyone is always nice, friendly, and helpful. I'm seeing much of this stuff for the first time; luckily, they have many signs explaining what things are. (Please, V K Foods, say thanks to whoever made those signs for me. This time i went back to try their other foods. I ordered the pandan tofu pudding, which came with a syrup. It tasted freshly made and smooth. It definitely satisfied my sweet tooth without being overly sweet or heavy. I also ordered their coconut jelly which was also refreshing and light. I also tried their shredded pork skin spring rolls and fermented pork rolls. The spring roll came in three and it was filling. The pork roll was tasty and i liked how there were no big pepper corn pieces. Parking was in a small lot and there were some customers coming in and out. A friend recommended this little store that sells a lot of tasty treats, not just tofu products. They had a lot of desserts from puddings, flan, rice cakes, sweet drinks and more. They also offered pre-made dishes with their tofu and meat loaf products including fresh spring rolls. There are also freshly fried egg rolls (cha gio) and bananas. Of course they also offered fresh & fried tofu, fresh soy milk and hot tofu dessert (tofu fa). The prices were not too expensive and service was good. They had 2-3 staff helping the steady flow of customers when I visited at noon on Friday. I ended up buying unsweetened soy milk, cold tofu pudding, hot tofu fa, and a vegetarian tofu stir fry with mushrooms and pickled mustard. All were good quality and tasty. The lady was very nice, she recommended that we put the soft, plain tofu in water for storage to maximize its shelf life. Prices are still affordable and I really like their fried mushroom tofu because they don't skimp on the mushroom or vermicelli inside. We've literally been coming here whenever we're in the area looking for daily freshly made soy bean products. Whether its fresh soy milk in the gallon or half gallon, fresh tofu, tofu pudding, fried mushroom tofu this is your go to spot! Yes the prices have recently gone up ALOT since inflation. It's still cheaper then your regular super market and you can't beat how fresh it is! Literally your soy milk is still hot in the bottle when they open at 7am! Everything else on the menu is a skip to be honest since you can get much better Vietnamese sandwiches elsewhere. If you're coming from OC/Westminster area forget about the sandwiches or spring rolls here, it can't even compete. If you're from the SGV area its just alright just not memorable. I saw that several people had recommended VK Foods as their go-to banh mi place, so I decided to try out their sandwiches to see for myself. My parents often visit to pick up their soy milk or tofu pudding dessert, but I wasn't aware that they sold banh mi as well! I ordered the special combination sandwich (around $3.50 to $4) with the vegetables on the side. The sandwich was pretty average size on what seemed to be a soft baguette roll with tasty pate spread on one side of the bread. But that was the only positive I found about the sandwich. The meats had no flavor and weren't packed at all - and the pickled vegetables were barely acidic - tasted like they had been dropped into vinegar for a few seconds before taken out. Probably the worst banh mi sandwich I've ever had. Will not be ordering a sandwich from here again. Definitely will be sticking to my go-to place for banh mi. I put the pudding in the refrigerator thinking that it was still good and next morning, the pudding was sour and spoilws. VK Foods - you can do better and toss away pudding if not sold that day. Several strips of pork inside, with a salted egg. Veggie eggrolls: Tasty. Contained taro, noodles, and carrot; the taro made it feel more substantial. Tofu pudding: The main reason we came, since our favorite place (VP Tofu) was closed today. We tried this cold, which we had never had since the place we usually get it serves it fresh/warm. It was very good; just more solid than we're used to. The ginger sauce was more sweet than gingery. The total cost was $37, plus a 5% upcharge for using a credit card. One of my younger brothers had a birthday + housewarming party about one month ago. We ordered tons of foods from different places. We were looking for reasonably priced egg rolls. My Mom didn't want to pay $1.00 per egg roll that Che Cali charges. V K Food Products (VKFP) came to the rescue and sold their egg rolls for $0.75 each which worked for us. They sell two types of egg rolls... one veggie and one with taro + pork. We went with the taro + pork which was DELICIOUS... taro was sweet and the overall flavor was fantastic... fresh and crispy. We got 50 egg rolls for a party of 22 people! We ended up with 9 leftover so it worked out perfectly. We also got 2 gallons of their fresh soy milk sweetened. It was very fresh and good, but I was slightly disappointed that it didn't have the level of sweetness that I normally like for my soy milk (hence, knocked down 1 star). Staff was okay. They do accept credit cards, but they will charge you the service fee (since COVID-19, a lot of places have gone this route unfortunately). Hence, do bring cash if you want to avoid the extra charge. Do call them ahead to pre-order the egg rolls so they have it ready when you get there. If you want the fresh soy milk, get there early in the morning because they'll all be gone by afternoon. They get really busy at times. They are located at a small corner plaza so parking may be limited. Do swing on by VKFP to get your share of egg rolls (by the way, we also tried their veggie version (on a different day, of course) and they were good, too) and fresh soy milk when you're in the San Gabriel/Rosemead area.
