Good service is the star here. My first visit several months ago was a bit disappointing, but the owner, Carol, made sure I was satisfied in the end and has since never failed me. Most recently, I had an I-need-my-contacts-refilled-now kinda emergency. I called Carol around 530 on a Tuesday evening and my contacts were waiting for me on Wednesday when I got off work. Unimpressed? Well my eyeballs were apparently manufactured by gypsies with the help of Stevie Wonder and some side consultation by Ray Charles, so my eyesight is not average. I always have to have custom lenses and always have to wait days or weeks to get them. I can't simply waltz into an eye care place and scoop up a few pairs, know what I mean? I don't know what voodoo magic Carol called on, but getting my custom lenses the next day is unheard of in my experience...and much appreciated. Worst company I've ever dealt with. Said they had my contacts for $400 so I ordered them, then a week later they said they didn't have them anymore and would have to refund my money. Then had to go back and forth with them on email for over a MONTH before getting my money back. I have been going here for over 13 years and I cannot find a place thats better!!! I even moved out of the area and still make the 30 minute drive to go to this place. Carol takes care of the patients so well! Shes always finding ways to save you money when purchasing contacts or glasses. There are times my insurance wasnt the best, but Carol always made sure it was affordable in some way. My whole family goes to her and always asks about everyone and genuinely cares about us especially in our own personal life! She knows who you are when you call or when you walk in! My entire family has seen the Doctor here. We all liked our experience with him and Ms. Carol was exceptional at helping us navigate our insurance and picking out frames. My 3 year old went to a Pediatric Ophthalmologist as Global doesn't accept patients under 5yr old, but Global Optical did fill his prescription and helped us to find a durable frame for our toddler. 3 months after getting his glasses our toddler faceplanted and banged up his glasses pretty badly. Ms. Carol stayed late to help us figure out what could done regarding fixing/replacing the lenses. Our customer service experience here was up and above all the other optical care places we've been to in the NW suburbs. Also Ms. Carol wasn't pushy about lense add on's and only recommended what was absolutely necessary I can't say enough good things. We will for sure be back next year! read more

I will never go to a chain eye care place again. Global Optical is a tiny little place on the side of a strip mall, but what they lack in size they more than make up with in service. The exceptional staff is unbelievably helpful; they remember your name and situation and treat you with kindness and respect. For example, I went in and bought a pair of contacts, took them home and then found out I hated them after about a week of wearing them. I called and they told me to stop by and they'd have a different brand ready, free of charge. I tried those out and loved them, and then promptly ripped one of those contacts a few weeks later. No problem - one of their policies is to replace damaged contacts, free of charge. They take care of the ordering and rebates too. These people take care of you. It seems most people, myself included until just recently, don't really care where they get their eye care done. Next time you need an eye exam/contacts/glasses, though, CONTACT Global Optical. I have been a customer for a number of years and I get my prescription for contact lens. This year I just wanted to get my prescription for glasses. The owner, Carol scolded me in front of her assistants and other customers and was angry that she cannot make more money. The manager, Carol, is really nice to work with. She knows how to deal with the different insurance companies and get the best deal for you. They have several different designer and regular brands of eyewear. They are open late compared to some of the other shops in the Schaumburg area. They had better deals than some of the online shops. Went in for accuview vita contacts they didn't even have it in stock, I came in and was greeted by rude office staff! The place looked very dirty and was very outdated, their frames even looked cheap! then called in and spoke to someone named carol who didn't have a clue about what she was talking about and was very rude in the way she spoke to me. I have known Mrs. Carol since 2005 and she has been a sweetheart to me and my family. She is a hard worker who offers great expertise based on her experience, this is her passion and she excels at it. Her husband and her staff are very caring and dedicated individuals who keep the store very clean and well supplied. This is one of the worst places I have gotten glasses from. Even America's Best is better quality wise. The lady recommended me Crizol lenses saying they are clear, thinner and won't smudge. Guess what, they are thinner, but they are NOT clear and smudge so easily that I have to clean them every few hours. The worst part is I had to pay extra to get those lenses. I am very unhappy with my glasses. Needless to say, I don't think they will take it back. The other experience I had was their eye exam charges. They had 26.99 as their their standard price. When I went there, they did the exam and THEN AFTER THE EXAM informed me that the price is no longer valid, they changed it just last week. I am not going there again! I would rather go to Sears optical and get a decent pair for the same price. read more

I was alittle disappointed cause I went in for an eye exam, thinking it was $26.99, since that's what it said on the website, but ended up paying $75. I made an appointment and 6, but I still had to wait like 15 min. The doctor that did my eye exam was nice, but I had questions about the price, obviously. I was too lazy to go home, so I just wanted to know how much it would be just for contact exam, but apparently I had to get the glasses exam too. I felt bad cause the doctor didn't know the price so she had to ask the owner, and she kind of got yelled yet. I'm sure the owner didn't mean it, since I'm Asian, I know how Asians sometimes sound like they're yelling, but they're not. The staff over all was pretty nice, but it's way pricier than the one I go to. I usually go to one in Chicago, but I thought I'll try one closer to my house, but idk if it's worth it. LIVINGSOCIAL DEALS OR GROUPON BEAWARE!!!!!!!!!!! This place is a rip off. For example, went in for an appt. The exam was rushed, which wasent a bad thing. Heres the catch, i had a coupon from living social for 200 towards free glasses, no problem right.....WRONG. Where they get you are the lens, they insist that new glass lens for the glasses are $300. That is BULL!!!! everywhere else you can get lens for 30-80 depends on if you get different stuff on them. Ive had glasses and contacts my entire life and know how much theses things cost. They refused to sell me just the glasses (frame) because they said you must buy the lens in order to use the 200$ deal. Which it doesnt say anywhere on the sheet of paper. I fought with them and she kept denying it. LivingSocial will be notified of this and I hope this helps someone else. btw they wont combine insurance to take care of the lens, so it was a waste of $50 read more
