Came here to get ideas for friends who are remodeling their kitchen, which has now expanded to their dining, family and laundry rooms as remodels often do! While Globe Lighting has lots more styles and designs online, when buying expensive lighting it's a good idea to see it in person so you can gauge the size, proportion, color and span of light. Chandeliers, pendent lights, lighting fixtures can totally transform a room, become the wow feature and set the style for the space so making the right selection is critical. Was greeted the second I stepped through the door by a sales woman asking if I was finding everything I needed. A silly question since I was only in the store 2 seconds! Better to just say, "Welcome, is there something I can help you find?" Or better yet, "Welcome, please let me know if you would like assistance finding something." For me it's such a turnoff to feel like pray when I enter a store! I give the saleswomen credit for apologizing for the "attack." Her words, not mine; but accurate. I know most reviewers complain when they are not greeted upon entry; I'm not one of them! Could care less whether you say hello; just be available and thorough when I have questions. Lighting styles are evolving and I was hoping to find more mid-century modern lights with clean simple lines. They had lots of dark metal, farmhouse, and traditional style lights. Some ultra modern and space age LED lighting, but not as many options for transitional or mid-century. We ended up going with a chandelier we found online after carefully measuring and comparing to current lights. While there, I approached a different salesperson with questions about a bathroom light fixture in my home, one I am having difficulty taking apart to change out the bulbs. Yea, I know that sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it's not! He was super thorough, provided detailed instructions and even gave me options to consider if I wanted to swap the bulbs for an LED strip. All in all, a trip to Globe is worth it when looking for new lighting to see lighting up close and to get guidance from the experts who work there. Globe also has a variety of hardware for cabinets, numbers for the exterior of your house, outdoor lighting, and even home decor lurking in between and around the lamps. So walk around with a keen eye, you never know what you may discover. read more

Decent selection of lamps & lighting with varying prices. We were looking for a table & floor lamp. They initially offered to help us and asked if we had any questions. However, customer service went down from there. We found a table lamp we liked and asked if they had one of similar color for a floor lamp. Each answer was "well you just need to look around." I wanted to ask them if they worked there because you would think you'd know (for the most part) what is available and could make suggestions. Just felt it was a pretty laissez-faire atmosphere. She is simply that perfect balance of reading what you need and want, what you may not know, and facilitating a beautifully executed buying experience. She took the extra work out of the process. We purchased a very nice lamp 2 years ago, then yesterday the know on the socket just turned and couldn't turn the lamp off. It needed a new socket. We to Globe to purchase one and guess what. They do not sell parts like simple sockets for lights. Ended up going to Home Depot and purchased one for $7.00. Simple installation and now fixed. Not sure why Globe can't carry a few of the sockets but oh well. read more

My wife and I went to Globe Lighting in Lake Oswego, A little hard to find but we found it We went there to look at Lamp Shades. My wife found 2 shades and asked how much they was and the sales person said $119.99 EACH. We needed 2 but thought, that's pretty expensive. Could have purchased Lamps including shades for this price. Needless to say, the price might have been for 2 but was told for one. Needless to say, we left. He was incredibly patient in listening to my explanation of the type of ceiling fan I needed and was also very helpful in explaining the types of fans with lights as well as describing their specific differences (which were numerous). I had a disturbing experience as a female Senior citizen when I went to this store to pick up an order that had arrived for me. As I was standing at the Pick Up counter, a tall male employee came to the counter. He said "I've been watching you." I was perturbed by his statement so I did not respond. He repeated "I've been watching you. What are you here for?" I said I came to pick up my order. He said " I've been watching you" again. It was obvious to a female employee across the room that I was getting disturbed, concerned and not getting helped. When he saw her approaching, he left muttering something. She fulfilled my request. In this day and age why would I spend almost $500 on lights here only to be told you can't return them a day later when they were not what I thought. Decent selection. There were about 7 associates there 3 of whom were filing papers and such, not helping anyone. In 25 mins of browsing the store, I didn't get asked once if I needed anything. When I waited till one woman was done with her paperwork and she looked up and her, "can I help you?" was like she was annoyed. Several months ago I went into Globe Lighting to find a very unique small bulb for a fiber optic Halloween pumpkin that burned out. I met a salesperson there named Joe Craig. He was simply fantastic! He really went to great lengths to try to find me the proper bulb and did! I was floored as I never expected them to actually have it. So I understand if you're having a bad day but still should put a smile on your face. If you aren't in the mood you shouldn't be at work nor in the retail area. This is the second time we've been here(giving them another chance) totally ignored and they JUST opened so wouldn't you think you would be chirpy and inviting? All employees were staring at their monitors at the front . Never been greeted both times or asked if we needed any help. We had to walk up and tell them we found a light. Of course it was out of stock but the LO location had one available. We definitely put that on hold with the associate and was asked if we wanted to pay there or at LO. I am NOT giving our profit to this store so we most definitely will be paying when we pick up our light fixture at LO store. Although they did not carry this particular item, an employee provided a list of local companies to scrutinize. My husband immediately recognized the Parkrose Hardware Store, which contains a wealth of scarce merchandise. We drove to NE Sandy Blvd. and found the piece I needed, as well as some delightful Christmas stocking stuffers.
