The gentleman who answered the phone was straightforward and helpful. He quoted me the price right away and walked me through exactly how the same-day pickup would work, so I felt confident going in. Once I arrived, the experience was seamless. They had me try the jeans on, asked how I wanted them hemmed, and even offered different heel heights so I could see how the length would look depending on my shoes. Since I was wearing flats that day, I went barefoot and stood on a pedestal while they pinned everything to my exact preference - it felt really personalized and thorough. I've never experienced such poor customer service in my life. I went in to get a dress hemmed and they told me it would cost more than double what they had mentioned when I called before hand. I understand that everyone values their work differently so I didn't question the pricing I just told him I was going to check in with another seamstress I had spoken to as well. His response was to tell me not to come back. I thought I had misheard him but he repeated himself and said "don't come back we have enough business." Based on the empty, sad look of their store and other yelp reviews I doubt that but incase you're looking for a new seamstress you might want to looks somewhere else because apparently they already have enough customers. Oh and I was able to find another seamstress right near by that was willing do so the alterations and steam the dress for less than half the price. read more

I've been coming here for years without any problems, but my last experience was terrible. The work was so shoddy--the alterations were extremely noticeable, and the seams didn't even line up. Even worse, the jeans had a distinctive large cuff that they accidentally cut off, even though the only requested alteration was at the waist. They told me they would fix it, which I assumed meant reattaching the original hem. Instead, they cut them again. When I went to pick them up, they tried to convince me no one would notice--but they were completely ruined. They didn't offer to cover the cost of the ruined jeans and only gave me a $25 refund, which was a third of what I paid. Also, whatever helper they have does work that is not professional. The worst people I have ever encountered. They completely ruined my wedding dress. They stained it and claimed "I didn't do that". The chest was too large upon final pick up and she just told me there was nothing to do about it. She added a tie to the train (which I never asked them to do) which looks horrible and makes me look like I have a tail. There was no communication. They never even called to tell me the dresses were ready. Furthermore, my mothers dress was way too big upon pick up. Still 8 inches (4 on each side) too big! And he just said "you lost weight" 8 inches off her waist in 4 weeks???? My mother's dress is also stained. They were rude when I brought up these points too. They were overpriced for horrible horrible work. Now I need to bring my dress to another place to fix their mistakes. I would NEVER recommend any brides, MOB, MOG, bridesmaids etc to even step foot in this place. read more

I got my dress altered for my October wedding here. The alterations were done perfectly and she even sewed my sash on to my dress for free on the day I went to pick it up AND she steamed my veil free of charge. I do think I may have paid too much but I waited until the last minute to get the dress altered so I just threw money at the problem lol. They don't itemize their alterations at all. They just give you a price and you have to decide if it seems plausible. All in all, I had a positive experience. I recommend a co-worker to go there as well and he got his done the same day as well. The price seemed reasonable and near what I thought it would be. The staff was friendly. Awesome seamstress and shop. I got my dress very last minute for my daughter's wedding due to weight loss. It was just 9 days until the wedding. I was having trouble finding a seamstress willing to do work so close to the date. Not only did Gloria take me, she and her husband(?) did it with a pleasant smile. The alterations were perfect!!!! And she sewed on missing beads since it was a beaded halter neckline and secured all of the existing beads. I came back to a dress even better than the one I brought in, fully pressed and ready to go. It was a mermaid dress and it fit like a glove, absolutely perfect length, Gloria knows her stuff. I was so excited to come in considering the decent reviews that this place has. Let me just warn you that if you do not want your clothes smelling like cigarette after you pick them up then this is not the place for you. When I first came in to have my work suits altered I was pleased to meet the owner who was extremely nice and really focused on getting the right measurements for my clothes. I felt happy that she was careful and attentive. As a few of the reviews mentioned, this place is NOT cheap. So if you are not willing to pay a few extra dollars then this place is absolutely not for you. I have to admit that the owner was accommodating. I brought in two blazers and two suit pants (to be adjusted at the waist and length) on a Tuesday and she had them ready by Saturday. Fast forward to pick up day - I walk in and the place smells like cigarettes . . . I instantly felt annoyed, because it makes absolutely no sense that a place that deals with clothing smells like cigarettes. I got my clothes, got home and the moment I removed the plastic bag the smell was just overwhelming. I was so disappointed and COULD NOT believe that they mishandled my clothing in such a way. I decided to just "air them out" since I did not have any other option at that point. Thankfully, everything fitted well. However, when I was going to wash the pants I realized that the bottom was poorly done. It seemed like they sow it by hand and only sow around the bottom ONCE. I feel like it is only a matter of time until it comes off. As time goes by I find more and more wrong details with the quality of the job done here. Absolutely never coming back here. My daughter's wedding gown was altered by Gloria. I should have asked the price in advance. Needless to say I was taken aback by the charges. The bill was more than $500. The dress looked beautiful. However, straight pins had not been removed. While dressing for her shining moment my daughter was unpleasantly surprised by the remaining hardware. Gloria is capable and charming. Needed to have the length on a mens dress shirt shorten. I used a custom made shirt to tell them how much I wanted taken off and they measured me and it was much more than I thought I needed but I decided to go with their measurement anyway. Then it was about $35-40 (can't remember exact price) but it was way more than I expected. In fact could have gotten custom shirt for 3x that price. WAY over priced. The first few times I went in, her work was impeccable and I dont mind paying for work that is perfect. But around my 3rd time she got sloppy and still charged WAY too much. the LAST straw was that i took in my daughters flower girl dress (she is 2 years old) for the hem to be taken up and she tried to charge me $75. ridiculous, i told her I would never pay that much the dress was $90 and she is 2 years old and was going to wear it for less than an hour. I went to Gloria for my bridal gown alteration after looking at such great Yelp reviews, but let me tell you, it is not worth. Pros: 1. She did a good job altering my bridal gown. Cons: 1. Very rude! I just asked her a question about how exactly the lace alteration will be done and I was just trying to understand how it is done (well she charged me hell lot of money saying she will have to alter the lace at the bottom), she said I have been doing this for years and I know how to do it. So what, I can't even ask you? She was also verrry rude to my mother when she showed her an ill-fitted button during my trial. The whole time I was scared to talk to her as my gown was in her hands and din't want to ruin that. 2. Way toooo expensive, I should have done more research rather than just seeing the reviews here and going to her and finalizing. 3. The worst part - Even after telling her and her husband specifically that I will need the left-over material from my dress (I am 5ft tall, my gown was 6ft tall ball gown with multiple beautiful lace layers), she did not save any!!!!! All she gave me was a few inches of tulle. I was furious when I picked up my dress, I tried not to let this ruin my big day. I would like to put a nice note here for this business. I went in with some tops (Old Navy and Target stuff) that I wanted to fix after some weight loss. Gloria does very fine work and the fee was a more than each shirt cost me. I had left the shirts feeling a little bad that I troubled her. I had second thoughts about having this work done on cheap easily replaceable clothing, so I called and asked them to toss my garments as they no longer fit anyway and they offered to discount. I kindly explained that the garments weren't worth Gloria's trouble even at a discount and then offered to pay for her time to even pin the tops. They wouldn't accept any fee. Anyway, if you have an expensive garment that needs alterations I'm sure they do excellent work. My husband only goes here. The owners are pleasant to deal with. The cost of altering slacks or a suit is not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. You get an excellent job. Your garments fit you correctly. The cost of the job is told to you when the ticket is handed to you and they do ask for partial payment at the time the pins are placed and the measurements are made. When I brought the items back to show her, Gloria yelled at me and told me that I was wrong, when it was clearly incorrect. she told me that I can take my business somewhere else and was extremely rude. I walked into Gloria's Alterations with my mom, in tears, after picking up my bridal gown from House of Da Laza (a nightmare dress shop on Long Island that failed to complete my alterations and got a huge grease stain on the back of my white dress!) Gloria assured me in the first 5 minutes I was there, that she would not only complete the alterations in the time frame needed, but would get the grease out and conceal it with the lace from my dress in a way no one would even know it was there! Let me say, although I was hopeful she would help us (my mom had used her several years ago and was very happy with her work), I thought there was no hope left for this dress. However, Gloria worked her magic, and I was overjoyed when I saw the transformation just 2 weeks later. The alterations were perfect, and more importantly, there was NO evidence a grease stain even existed!! Seeing what she accomplished was like witnessing some kind of miracle. Gloria is a very sweet and humble talent, and she is the real deal! She exceeded any expectations I had, and because of her, I'm now looking forward to feeling beautiful in my dress on my wedding day next Sunday!
