She has accommodated last minute requests and taken care of me numerous times. Neddy altered my wedding dress and did an amazing job. She was attentive to details I didnt even notice and was transparent with timelines on when I could expect the dress to be done. I think others get turned off by her directness but I would much rather someone be honest with me than not, especially when it comes to dress alterations. The only tip I'd share is to make an appointment well in advance especially if your trying to get one for wedding season. For context, I called her in mid March to make an appointment for early April for my June wedding and by the time I called in mid March she was already filling up. Also her prices are very reasonable, she was charging a fraction of what my wedding dress designer was charging for what I needed done. Extremely poor and disappointing experience. Nedy was quite rude to my daughter and her boyfriend recently. I went in to pick up their clothes ( we chose not to have them altered there after this experience) and shared with her in a respectful manner how I felt about what happened. No apology or remorse. The staff is very rude at this business. When i spoke to the owner - she attempted to justify her ignorant rude disrespectful employee screaming at a customer for no reason. I prepaid for a dress to be completed .. basically just a new zipper and to add a inch to the back of dress - i was told i could pick it up by June 25- i was charged 95.00 - unbelievable And i prepaid . When i arrived the dress was sitting on a rack . When i questioned the employee - he became very irrate , raised his voice and started to accuse me of touching a dress that was-not- mine- even though i explained to him that this was my dress and it was suppose to be completed. He continued his rude tirade to let me know that the dress is not completed and would not be done . I became upset as this is a dress for my daughters sweet sixteen . I explained to him that the dress was dropped off three weeks prior - he went to pull the receipt and then stated well you didn't pay . I explained i pre-paid for the dress . He then proceeded to read the receipt and said can you come back after 3:30- of course i said yes - i will be back . I asked him to speak to Nedy the owner - he said you speak to me - she isn't here. I left and called the owner - she explained to me she heard everything and was there the whole time - then tried to justify the rude behavior by saying i was upset Seriously- yes i am upset when you have a rude ass idiot raising his voice , accusing me of stealing & touching my own dress , then telling me that i didnot pay and that a dress won't be ready - I had to explain to her that you don't treat paying customers this way - but her ignorant ass didn't understand that either . Did my daughter's cocktail dress for a boat ride. (Highschool stopped proms long story). The dress was perfectly altered to her beautiful body lol. Would definitely recommend. I can't say about Gowns Wedding dresses because I have no info. But I have no problem recommending them for a cocktail dress. There was a language barrier but we communicated when my daughter tried on dress and we both saw what needed to be done. I recommend this place I had a great experience and my daughter looked beautiful if I find a pic I'll add it. If she eventually gets married God please I need a grand baby lol I think I'd go to the shop I purchased the gown only because that's what I did so many years ago. I had a bridesmaid dress that needed alternating. After searching for a seamstress I was recommended here. However when I walked in I was met with an attitude of "they could not have been more bothered by my presence", my gut told me to walk out but I stayed and they proceeded to take me in for a fitting. Another patron walked in and was reassuring me how wonderful they were here. Fast forward to the day of the wedding I take the dress out of the garment bag and plastic only to find the bottom of my dress ruined, holes and tears. No one said a thing and they let me pay full price which was over $100. I find this highly unprofessional and honestly terrible to do to someone. I understand mistakes happen and would have asked for assistance in making it work including still paying some portion of the fee. Instead I was hand sewing minutes before my dress was put on. I should have trusted my gut I will never go back and recommend everyone find somewhere else to go. read more

She was amazing, took in my dress quickly and went the extra mile.

Brought my daughters sweet 16 dress here. The owner Nedy told my daughter and myself that her hips were crooked. The dress was very puffy and my daughter and I mentioned that it was the dress but she insisted her hips were still crooked and looked at her shoulders and told her one was higher than the other. This was during the fitting . My daughter felt terrible and questioned me about her shoulders and hips. Of course I told my daughter she was absolutely fine! Nedy went on tell me to get it checked out and asked my daughter personal questions. We didn't want to Leave the dress but we heard she did a good job from a dress shop we went too. Fast forward to the pick up date :we arrived 15 min early , after driving an hour the daughter told us we were too early and to go sit in our car. She was very rude. They took the next customer and then at 6:30pm we walked back in. After my daughter tried on her dress she was upset because too much was taken in. Nedy said it was fine but my daughter was almost in tears. At this point she just wanted to leave. This women is rude and has a terrible attitude. We won't be back and we won't be recommending her to anyone! read more

I went there for alterations, the woman came out with an attitude and asked when I needed the dress by. When I gave her the date, which was well over a month in advance, she asked what I needed done. When I was saying what I needed done, she said no it's not possible without ever looking at or touching the dress. (The dress had never come out of the garment bag). She refused to see the dress on to give professional advice. She had a very nasty attitude and treated me as if I was an inconvenience by coming to give her business. She had a very different attitude with someone who spoke Spanish like her though. This place was a recommendation from a friend but it was definitely not worth going to. If you want to waste your time, get an attitude and be mocked by the seamstress, then by all means go there. I wish I could give less than a star since I didn't even have services. read more

My wife brought in a simple gown, with a jewel halter neckline, to be dry cleaned only. No mention of any issue about the gown when I picked it up. On the morning of the occasion when she opened the bag, she saw the neckline detached from the fabric, jewels were missing and still falling off as it was being taken off the hanger. A dress in perfect condition was brought in and these professionals returned this horrific mess to their customer without a word. Incredibly disappointed, it ruined the entire day for us. (The neckline is supposed to lay flat against the fabric and each circle is supposed to have a jewel. You can see it is detached from the fabric, from the dress itself, the whole thing is twisted and missing jewels) read more

Firstly the short big boned lady was rude upon arrival . I said "Goodevening " not once but twice with no greet back . She was already annoyed because we came in , I don't know why . Went to get my wedding dress alterations done here. Was very uncomfortable, dress was ruined. Was not happy at all. I have a large chest, and all she did was complain that my chest was too big and made me feel very horrible and self conscious every time I went. My wedding dress was absolutely butchered from the alterations. I have before and after pictures of the dress and it doesn't even look like the same dress anymore. When I showed her the dress and told her that it was cut and wasn't supposed to be she claimed she never cut it which was a lie. The material of my dress was difficult to work with as what she told me. But if she didn't feel comfortable working with it she should of told me from the beginning and I would of went to someone who was a professional. I was extremely upset my whole wedding day because I was very uncomfortable in my dress the way she made the straps and chest area look. My family all use her for many years, so I felt like she thought she can talk to me anyway she wanted which was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. As for me, I will NOT be a returning customer. Had to get patches sewn onto a work uniform. $5/patch. The result was professional and done same day.

We had a blouse for dry cleaning, which apparently needed extra time because the blouse has a sleeve that is difficult to deal with. We understand that it may require extra time. Instead of letting us know beforehand and giving us reasonable time frame, they came up with excuses every time we go to pick up the blouse at the time frame that they promised it will be ready by. We had to go there FOUR TIMES to pick up the same blouse. Instead of apologizing for such delay, the owner of the dry cleaner said "So what do you want me to do? Go use a different dry cleaner then." This is the exact phrase that the owner used and I am not exaggerating any of it. I highly recommend to use a different dry cleaning services just like what the owner said. read more

I just need to share I had the worst experience at Nedy's alterations in Hicksville. As I walked in to give them a try after the good reviews I have seen, a woman was walking out talking about how she "forgives them." I walked in, politely asked for alterations. She asked me what I wanted and i said "1 dress altered for a wedding in 5 weeks." She cut me off mid sentence and asked me to wear a mask, yet the other employees weren't. I kindly said sure and when I asked a simple question of "do you have an extra mask for me to put on" as I did not have one in my car since I had just had it cleaned and did not replenish my stock, the seamstress was extremely rude and she said "aye yi yi" rolled her eyes at me and said you have "10 mins" i have another appointment coming in after you, hurry!" Horrible place. Do not go there. Very nasty people. I took my sisters bridesmaid dress there to get altered my boyfriend told me night before that my dress was too long and I was stepping on it. When I came out of fitting room Nedy goes what were you drunk last night the dress is fine. Instead of urging I said okay politely at that point I should of left. But then she started saying the breast cups don't look good and will show through dress so I said okay can you put new breast cups in and fix loose straps. When I came back to try on dress straps were still loose and cups topple over exposing the underline of dress and almost my breast. My mother was with me since she came in to visit for wedding and ask Nedy what happened to the dress can you please fix it. That's when Nedy got extremely rude yelling and screaming going off on my mom. She looked like she was gonna rip my dress. At that point I said do not talk to my mom like that and her husband got involved and became very nasty as well. What kind of establishment is this place. She ruined my sisters bridesmaid dress. A friend of mine recommended Nedy's to me but I really have mixed feelings about this place, mostly negative. My daughter lives out of state and I brought her to Nedy's while she was visiting to get a bridesmaid dress and a pair of faux leather pants altered. Nedy said the items would be ready in 2 weeks and even wrote the date on my receipt. Two weeks later I went back. The pants were ready, the bridesmaid dress was not. No problem until Nedy's husband berated me and said the date just means the items wouldn't be ready until AFTER that date and that I misunderstood. Huh?? Two days later the gown was ready and I picked it up without my daughter trying it on bc, as I said, she lives a few states away. On her next visit, my daughter tried on the gown and it was too long, it was dragging on the floor. I took pictures of it and measured that 1.5 inches had to come off. It was close to closing time so I raced to Nedy's. My daughter couldn't come with me bc she had a train to catch. I was in a panic. The wedding was days away in California. I explained the situation to the husband who rudely told me my daughter should've tried on the dress when I picked it up. I showed him the picture of how it dragged on the floor and he kept blaming my daughter. I was anxious to begin with and he just made me feel even worse. Worst customer service ever. Nedy was more helpful and understanding but her nasty husband is definitely a liability. read more

I had my wedding dress altered from them and it was the best experience. You are lucky to get an appointment with her. She goes above and beyond for her customers and her prices are very fair. I had a bridesmaids dress altered there a year ago and after that experience i knew i wanted my wedding dress altered there. I saw a previous review i felt is not fair. First of all you don't wait one month to get your dress alterations. And she probably didn't have time because you're only giving her one month and she has other clients. I brought my dress three months in advance and went for a fitting once every month (about). She had my come in on her off hours so she could give me her undivided attention. I didn't know this women prior to the bridesmaids dress i had altered here. She did an amazing job. She also did my fiancé's suite and thank god because she gave her the best advice since my fiancé didn't know what she really wanted to be done with it. I wanted people to know how amazing this woman is and that i will continue to always trust her with any alterations. I don't think it's fair for one persons review, who didn't even use the service to be the only review. I really wish I had read the reviews before coming here. I was recommended by someone and have been looking for a reliable person to do alterations since moving to the area. My first clue that this place is a disaster was when I went to drop off a dress, nedy was with another customer who had on her wedding dress and the bride kept saying the sleeves were too big (which they were) and nedy continued to convince her they were fine. I was astonished when I overheard how much she was charging the bride for alterations for $700+ the bride should have been extremely happy and she clearly wasn't. My dress was suppose to be ready Friday at 4pm. I called twice during the day, left a voicemail (no response)to ask if it will be ready and that I will be in the area earlier. Since I was in the area I stopped in at 2:45pm. Nedy wasn't there but her two disrespectful daughters were. I explained that I just stopped in to see if any chance the dress was ready, they basically berated me for coming before 4 and if no one picked up the phone why would I come. I again explained I was just in the area and I have no problem coming back at 4 but is it going to be ready for that time. The one daughter says "well you can take the dress now" so I said "why would u offer me to take the dress when it's not done?" She then continued to tell me I have an attitude and the other one started to chime in as well and practically started yelling at me. It was such an unpleasant experinece and so unprofessional.
