Long post but the gist of it is DO NOT TRUST Nancy Sinoway with your wedding dress alterations. I will post all pictures for proof. -She never used a measuring tape to make sure things were equal, BE CAUTIOUS OF THIS -Charged me $1200 for alterations, her 'bustle' she made me was made of other wedding scraps that was 2 strings to tie together under the dress -She cut my sleeves at different lengths, sewed them on at different parts of the dress and SEWED ONE ON UPSIDE DOWN AND DENIED IT. One sleeve was cut about 4 inches shorter than the other and at different thicknesses of the sleeves. -She pushed me out the door with the dress all bagged up before letting me try it on a final time, and that is my fault I should've pushed to try it on again -Never steamed the hem after she hemmed it so was curled up -Created receipts that I had NEVER been shown before after I told her she sewed a sleeve on upside down -Used every excuse in the book to send me a minimum refund for 'just the sleeves' and then called me shameful for asking my money back. Kept claiming she would send the check the next day and took over a week for her to finally do it. -TOLD ME WORD FOR WORD 'tip your seamstress' and she refused to refund the tip read more

This woman came recommended to me and I was really excited to hop on a call and work with her, but I was extremely disappointed when I did manage to finally talk to her. I hate to say it, but my perception of her is a rude woman. She repeatedly called me "stupid," completely unprompted, and then suggested that I eat next to nothing for the remaining few days so that I can fit into my dress. I didn't ask for that unsolicited advice. All I needed was help with an emergency, but all she did was make me feel worse. I won't be working with her that's for sure. I am so happy I brought my wedding dress to Nancy for alterations! I didn't need a ton of alterations, but her adjustments made all the difference. My dress fit my like a dream on the day. Wow! Service like this rarely exists anymore. I visited Nancy the other day to get some tassels removed from my daughter's dress. Nancy looked at the dress, started to snip the hemming off and said to me that I shouldn't spend the money to have her do it and that I could easily do it myself. I agreed and asked Nancy if I could stay there and do it in her waiting area. Over the next half hour I, with some help from Nancy, removed the hem. Not only did I save money, but I got to talk to Nancy who is a pleasure. Thank you Nancy for the alteration tips, good conversation and for going above and beyond. read more

I came here because someone recommended this place to me, but I will not be returning. The clothing did not have the professional finish I expected considering the price I paid. She charges $40 per hour of work and $26 for a hemline. I could have gotten better work done at my local dry cleaner. I had two dressed hemmed and a pair of pants taken in. I ultimately didn't even decide to make an appointment because the two times I have called them over the years they were so condescending and rude on the phone that I just said no thank you and hung up. I guess I forgot the second time just how abrasive they were at word one. Truly a complete turn off for me when I am berated for simple asking a SERVICE business for help with something. I am still angry about her ruining my daughter's communion dress. I had a very expensive dress for my daughter's communion. My daughter was an extremely tall 7 year old. Instead of doing what I asked- a simple fix at the shoulder, she added "darts" for breasts-which my 7 year old did not have or need to give the illusion of. The dress was ruined because of the alteration.She also spoke so inappropriately and disrespected my child's body to her. Add to her rudeness, the cost of tailoring was ridiculous. This was when Nancy was located on PW Blvd. Nancy has since gained lots of followers and moved to her current prime location across from the town dock. I never write negative reviews. If I have a bad experience, I simply do not patronize the business. This is a special case. Her greed and rudeness ruined a very special event. Do some research. There are plenty of cheaper better local tailors who won't tell you how great they are as if its a reason why you should pay her 8x as much. read more

There are not a lot of tailoring shops like Nancy's. It is, by far, one of the most perfect places to take your children -- she makes both my daughters feel extremely comfortable and able to say what it is that they want. Sometimes children explain things in a very vague way, yet Nancy always gets it right. Besides being able to address my daughters' needs, Nancy is also able to get me in and out for my stuff. I appreciate that I don't have to spend a ton of time waiting around. Another reason why I rely on Nancy is that she is an active part of the community -- she is always very involved and generous when it comes to Port Washington events. All in all, every experience with Nancy has been overwhelmingly positive and I highly recommend using her. read more
