I went with a few friends and overall the experience was positive. We loved the food, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the herb butter melting on top was a great touch (very French). The fries on the side were super crispy, and my friend's mussels were also delicious. We ordered their Caesar salad to share and I appreciated that it came with real anchovies! We also dined during happy hour and tried their $10 martini selection, which we thought was a great deal (their French martini was so delicious). We also liked the decor and overall ambiance. The service was slightly slow at times but overall we still had a good time :)

We were out and about and on the hunt for a decent happy hour, when I remembered reading something about Gloria in the Great Hall's Martini Happy Hour. We showed up around 6:00 and were shown to a table in the middle of the restaurant. It was a really hot day so they had all their windows opened and absolutely zero air conditioning turned on. I really loved the vibe but the extreme heat made the visit quite unpleasant. (I would've ordered a snack but I needed to get out of the stifling heat as soon as possible.) Before we left, though, I ordered a Dirty Martini with gin off the Martini Happy Hour menu. It was really, really good. The flavors were balanced perfectly, and the amount of olive juice was right on point. It's a stellar beverage. We both agreed that we want to return to Gloria in the Great Hall but on a day that's not quite so hot.

Went as a group of 4 and got the nice comfy booth. We shared the bread (a MUST) and the charcuterie board. We were surprised by the variety on the board, which even came with a baked brie. We got the steak frites and duck confit. The steak frites wasn't bad, liked the touch of spinach. Nice shoestring style fries. I only had a few bites, but the duck confit was UNREAL. The skin perfectly crisp and the meat was nice and juicy. I wish I ordered it for my entree. Finally we shared the creme brulee which was a delicious way to end the night. I definitely need to come back for the duck!!! The only thing that was disappointing was the service, maybe it was an off night.

It's a popular restaurant. The place is nicely decorated but with limited seating. And we ended up waiting for an hour in the bar for seating. The mocktail is too sweet for me but I do love the food! Bread and better seem to be home made and it's very tasty. The duck confit is also excellent.

A go to spot in Queen street west that provides a chic environment for drinks and dinner. The food is high quality and is great to share. The drinks are also delicious, I love the passion fruit cocktail! The ambiance is set with dim lights and the decor gives classy, modern, Victorian vibes. Every time I've visited, the service has been great as well. Overall, Gloria in the Great Hall is the perfect resto bar for a nice dinner or date night.

Came here for some happy hour treats and was not disappointed. Happy hour is $10 martinis so I had a French martini and a Dirty Martini and neither disappointed Decided to grab a small bite here as well and ordered the mussels and fries. Fries were thin and crispy and nicely salted. The mussels were good but I felt the broth was a bit thin in flavour, but overall a good start to the evening Definitely make reservations here - it's a pretty popular place so while they do take walk ins, you probably won't get a spot without waiting for awhile. There are a few booths for larger parties (they say it can seat 6, but honestly 4 is more like it, 6 IMO would be extremely tight) This decor feels like old world charm, tin like ceilings, old school style ceiling fans , eclectic art work , the bar looks so lovely. Definitely a great spot to grab some drinks after work!

Gord and I had supper last evening at Astoria in the Great Hall. They just opened in July and are French-American eatery and cocktail bar ... it has a nice vibe. I had Braised Shortrib (Mash, Pearl Onion) and Gord had Mushroom Agnolotti (Porchini, Beech, Oyster). We also had Créme Brûlée for dessert. All were good. Stephanie was our server ... she was friendly and took good care of us.

Came here after dinner for drinks and some escargots. We walked in without a reservation and got a spot no problem. It was pretty packed for a Thursday night. Menus were already on the table, we were seated on the same side booth for 2 people. The interior of the place was such a vibe and had such a beautiful bar area. A great hangout spot for drinks and a quick bite. Passionfruit Sour Cocktail 5/5 - Beautiful pink colour. Tasty, tarte and delicious. Escargots 4/5 - I haven't had escargots in a while so this was new to my palette again. It came with a big fluffy bread to dip into the crevasse of the plate. Escargot pieces were large and the dish was so great for sharing. Would come back again for more drinks and light bites. Maybe even to try out their dinner options. Such a vibe!

Astoria in The Great Hall along Queen St. W. and Dovercourt is an American-French bistro opened by Bar Poet (who is just across the street!). They are only open for dinner on the weekdays and brunch on the weekends. The previous space used to be Otto's Bierhalle and the interior was completely revamped to reflect the bistro concept. It is a cozy, rustic, and warm space where there are exposed brick and tiled floors. The space doesn't come off as too fancy but still has its flair. It is true though...as soon as we sat down the waitress did tell us that there were no more disco dance parties in the washrooms (if you know...you know!). My friend and I dined at Astoria recently around 5:30pm. I did make reservations in case it got busy. However, it usually is quite quiet around the opening time where it got progressively busier as the night went on. We were greeted by staff at the door and shown to our table. Our waitress was lovely and friendly. Drinks wise, they have an extensive menu of cocktails, wines, and spirits/liquors. I opted for a glass of rose while my friend had a cocktail. Food wise, we ordered the following items to share: - Nicoise salad - Steak frites - Clam pasta The food was paced out well and prepared well. The nicoise salad is a classic. The dressing was refreshing and tart at the same time. All the components of the niçoise salad worked well together. Our only small complaint was that there were not enough slices of tuna. Otherwise, the salad was great. The steak frites was good. Steak was tender and cooked to our liking (medium rare). I liked how they gave extra salt to season your steak (if you wish). The small side of spinach was also a nice touch and tasted well. The fries were delicious as well however, my preference is to have the fries slightly crispier. The clam pasta was tasty - clams were cooked well and the pasta sauce coated every strand of linguine. There was a slight kick to the sauce but overall, it was executed well and we enjoyed everything we ordered! Overall, friendly service, good food, and a nice vibe. Definitely want to return to try their brunch on the weekends!

Astoria has been really hyped up to me, but man did it live up to that hype. We started off with the oysters, bread & butter, and onion rings, and all 3 were bangers with the bread and butter being a standout to me for that soft pillowy texture and rich melty butter. Next was the steak frites, which was smothered with more deliciously rich herby butter, and came with perfectly crisp fries, rapini, and salt. I really appreciated the attention to detail that went into each component of the dishes, particularly temperature and seasoning. Honestly I am an absolute sucker for good butter, and sometimes it makes or breaks the steak for me, so this was one of the best steak frites I've had in Toronto. I will definitely be back!

The best meal I had in Toronto! The staff had great suggestions. The bread was so fluffy and perfectly salty. The short rib and mushroom ravioli were to die for! Loved the ambiance! Would 100% go back!

I loved this bar, one of the best cocktails I ever had. It was so sweet and creamy. The atmosphere is very romantic but fun. Dimmed lights and loud music. It's also a great spot for groups, it's right next to ossington too so it's a great spot for bar hopping. I wish I got to try the food as well instead of just drinks, but I will definitely return for food.

3.8/5 This is only about bar experience. I accidentally stumbled into this new french american bar/restaurant without knowing they are doing soft opening. I only had two cocktails but both were pretty decent. Nice classic queen west style cocktails. Unfortunately I didn't get to try their food during this visit but the menu seem to be pretty nice and knowing that this is a sister establishment of bar poet, I think it will be worth visiting again to check out their food. It has very cute casual french bar/restaurant ambiance as well. I will update the review after I revisit the place after they settle down.

Impeccable. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive without being overbearing. I felt welcomed from the second I walked through the door. I ordered the Avocado Salmon Toast paired with the beautifully pink and perfectly named Pink Flamingo drink. My friend went for the Sweet Berry Waffle and a classic lemonade. Let me just say--the flavors did not disappoint. The salmon was fresh, creamy avocado was piled high, and the toppings were thoughtfully layered. My only tiny critique (and I say this with love): the toast itself was a little too crispy for my liking. It made the dish a bit tricky to cut into, and the texture leaned dry. Next time, I'll definitely ask for it untoasted or lightly toasted. A softer base would really let those flavors shine without the crunch competing. Now let's talk about that Pink Flamingo--WOW. It was tropical, sweet, and honestly gave me vacation-in-a-glass vibes. I almost ordered a second, but adulting (and budgeting) called me back to reality. That said, it's worth every sip! I snuck a few bites from my friend's Sweet Berry waffles, and yep--I'm getting that next time!! Light, fruity, tasty!! I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu. Who knows, maybe next time I'll get to sample a few more dishes Seriously though--support local and give this place a try. You'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Must try is the Costa Rican coffee served in a traditional manner. Next must try is their empanadas! Housemade and the dough is phenomenal. Filling we tried was beef.

I found myself wanting to try most of the cocktails, which is a rarity. We got the Strawberry Tetsu to start (inspired by Uncle Tetsu's Japanese cheesecake), along with the Cloudy Oolong (tea-based cocktail with a salted caramel cheese foam). The Strawberry Tetsu tasted like a dessert and was delicious, with a graham cracker crumble rim. The Cloudy Oolong had a strong tea taste which I loved, as sometimes the tea can get lost in a cocktail. The foam on top was addicting and paired nicely with it, similar to a bubble tea. Next, I had the Burnt Yuzu which was light and refreshing from the citrus. The bar is hidden behind Misfit Ice Cream, with a speakeasy vibe to the interior. Large windows line one wall with a view to the exterior, but are tinted enough that people walking by cannot see in. Service was great, although they do have a strict 1 hr 45 min time limit for seating, regardless of whether the bar is packed or not.

We walked up to an unassuming entrance that is part of the experience, and once inside, the atmosphere shifts completely. The space is intimate and cozy with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a relaxed speakeasy vibe that makes it easy to settle in for a couple of drinks. The transition from the street to the interior feels deliberate, and the low-key energy of the room encourages lingering. The cocktail menu leans heavily into Asian-inspired flavors, and that is what makes it stand out. Every drink feels thoughtfully developed rather than relying on presentation alone. We tried the Cloudy Oolong, which was especially memorable with its rich tea flavor and creamy cheese foam that added a savory depth to the cocktail. The Strawberry Tetsu offered a dessert-like profile without becoming overly sweet, balancing fruit and tea notes in a way that felt refined and well composed. Each cocktail arrived beautifully presented and balanced, making it easy to appreciate the amount of care that goes into every glass. The menu is creative without being gimmicky, and the flavors are well integrated, with each drink offering something distinct. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain the menu or offer recommendations if you are unsure what to order. They guided us through the flavor profiles and offered thoughtful suggestions based on our preferences. Service felt attentive without being overbearing, and the overall pace made it a great place to relax rather than rush through a drink. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the experience feeling personal and unhurried. If you are looking for a cocktail bar that offers something different from the usual classics, After Seven delivers a memorable experience. Between the hidden entrance, intimate setting, and creative drinks, it is the kind of place that is easy to recommend whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for one of Toronto's more unique bars. The balance of atmosphere, craftsmanship, and service makes it a standout in the city's cocktail scene.
