    Chicken and waffles

Came here the other day for a late brunch before hitting the spa across the street. Cute place with nice ambience. Staff were friendly but service was honestly a bit slow. We had to wave to get our orders and the bill. Food was decent and overall pretty good. I liked my waffle and chicken. My friend ordered the french toast and found it too sweet esp with the maple syrup on top of the gelato. She did order a latte which was cold so our server did remake it but she said it tasted more like a cappuccino. Overall this www a good experience and it's a good brunch option for the area on the weekend!

We came here for happy hour on a Friday and had a great time! Great ambiance especially as it gets late and they have the lights lit up. Happy hour was a great deal and you can get both food and drinks from the menu. I really liked the charcuterie platter that we had to share. Service was top notch, attentive and friendly. I hear they have a good brunch as well!

Went for brunch this past weekend! The price of the food is on the lower end for similar brunches in the Toronto area but the portions are quite large! The place fills up fast, and they allow reservations for brunch which is great for larger group sizes. It has a cozy feel. I tried the avocado toast with burrata. Would recommend!

This cozy, cute restaurant is great for dates and friends outing. The ambiance is nice. Service was good as well and fast. Friends and I came here for happy hour and the prices and portion is good. We got the mozzarella Arancini, beet and burata, the beef tartare was reallly goood. $1/oz for wine is amazing. For the main courses we got the salmon which was really good with the sweet quinoa. The venison tenderloin was a bit underwhelming with 3 pieces and a bit too salty with the sauce. Overall, great place to meet up with friends over food and drinks.

Came here on a Sunday night with a few of my girl friends. The service was great, but the food came out super slow. I would not recommend coming here for a quick bite, however it's a nice venue to catch up with friends. It's on the second level of a king west building, therefore it's easily accessible via 503/504 street car.

Found this place by accident as I intended to go to another King St bar's happy hour but they were full. They have an incredible happy hour everyday for 5-7, with dollar per oz wine and half priced appetizers. All the food and drinks I've had here have been great, and the ambiance is nice as well. While it can get busy, I've never had an issue getting a table, even on a weekend. It's happened a few times though that they've had a private event during happy hour so the bar was closed, I'd recommend checking out their IG first (@laissezfairetoronto) to be sure they're open when you're planning a trip.

Great spot for happy hour! We tried every item on the happy hour menu. None of them disappointed. The stand-out was the charcuterie board. The portions were so generous and had a great variety of meats and cheese! Unfortunately the space was booked for a private event on Friday evening so we could only dine in for an hour. Would definitely come back again for more.

    Buddha Bowl

It was my first time coming here for brunch and it definitely hit the spot. The vibe in the restaurant was super cozy and chill. It was for my friend's birthday and we all got their Buddha bowl, with many variations. The kitchen staff nailed our order. I also want to say our waiter was amazing. My friend ordered an iced earl grey tea and it was definitely not on the menu, but the kind individual steeped the tea, cooled it and then put it on ice. Talk about effort and care! My friend also brought a cake and the staff not only came with candles on her cake, but they also gave us an additional cheesecake on the house for her! It was such a memorable experience and I would 100% come back! Thank you for such a great time!

Went here for a friend's birthday in the summer. Their brunch items were so yummy. It was a little nerve wracking eating because it was towards the end of the CNE so they had the plane demo thing that they do. It was so LOUD. Other than that though it was a great experience. Service was excellent. They waived the pancakes that we used a "cake" to put candles on. And if you get one thing here, it has to be the pancakes. So delicious!

The restaurant is very delicious but overpriced. We started with the tuna and avocado which I thought was really good. The avocado "gelato" wasn't to my bfs taste. It was good but very small portion even for a starter. I got the duck two-ways and bf got the scallops as mains. The duck was large enough to be considered a main, but the scallops were a small portion and definitely should have been an app. All of the proteins were cooked perfectly and I thought it was well-balanced. Wouldn't come back for the price.

Food: 3.5/5 Cocktail: 4/5 Atmosphere:4/5 Service: 4/5 I love coming here especially in the summer for the drinks with my friends. It is such a cute spot for drinks, and all the staff are super friendly as well. I liked the food but I would say their best is more cocktails. I would want to try in the winter as well for happy hours with my colleagues!

Their menu strays from their French name and also offers Italian dishes for good measure. It's not always done well, the porcini truffle arancini ($13) are the worst I've ever had: the risotto so dry that the ball starts to crumble and the mixture bland so everything relies heavily on the marinara (thankfully, fresh and delicious). As a plus, since it is deep fried rice, even being the worst it's still edible, but certainly not one you'd want to serve a true Italian. The squid ink tagliatelli ($21) is 100% better. Dark ribbons of pasta encompasses a seafood flavour but not in a fishy way. It's covered in a sauce that's not overly thick but salty enough to really give it a briny sea essence. Plump sweet clams and crunchy bread crumb provide a nice contrast to the pasta, while there's just enough dill fronds to add a hint of freshness without morphing the dish's earthiness. Safer sharing plates are some of the cold seafood options. While we weren't advised what the oysters were that evening (only that they were from PEI), the dozen ($32) tasted clean and fresh, accompanied with the traditional vinegary onion mignonette and grated horseradish.

We really enjoyed our drinks, food and service. Atmosphere is fun and cool. Food was very delicious and very good portions ! Drinks were awesome and service was top notch and uber friendly. The manager Marco was extremely nice and made us feel extra welcome. We will definitely be back! We loved it !

When you arrive you have the option to sit on the first floor or upstairs on the rooftop bar. I believe this is the only multi-level Cactus Club Cafe I've ever been to. We opted for the rooftop bar which had a high energy, upscale, and stylish vibe to it. We ended up sitting at the bar as it was very crowded. I ordered a frozen Aperol Spritz which was excellent and I could drink a few of these. For food we ordered a burger and fries which was good but nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a late night spot for drinks and food the Cactus Club Cafe is a solid choice.

The place SEEMED quiet but shortly thereafter the place got JAMMED! Initially it was slow service but it picked up shortly. We had several different servers so no single server is tagged here. I will say that it's a hip, nicely equipped restaurant. We decided to do an appie meal. We ordered Sichuan Chicken lettuce wraps ($25.50)..this was the best of the appies. The next was the Crab Dip ($20.75), it was hot but not overly tasty. 3rd was the Hot Chicken Bites with pickles ($16.00). They were ok but not hot in temp enough. The final was the Chili Citrus Calamari ($21.25). This was the worse of the dishes. Simply put, it was cold. The server removed this from our bill. In summary...I wouldn't go out of my way again to go here but given all things being equal, the servers were very good. As a final note...the bathroom was very clean & well maintained.

We were treated so incredibly well by all the staff. Dawn was our server and she was so lovely! We really felt taken care of. I've never had a restaurant server look at the type of pant I was wearing and change my table napkin to a black one to match my dark pants. Nor do I remember a restaurant heating up the mug a cappuccino comes in to ensure it stays nice and warm. As for food, we were allowed to have some partake in Summerlicious and some not. I had the Summerlicious menu and picked the Wagyu Tartare, Surf and Turf, and Buttercake. Great portions, delicious food. My favourite was the Buttercake. We also had happy hour drinks, oysters, a prime rib, and caesar salad. If I were to recommend something, get the $78 prime rib which is 14 oz, perfectly seasoned, and comes with glazed carrots and the most amazing mashed potatoes I've ever had.

I found myself wanting to try most of the cocktails, which is a rarity. We got the Strawberry Tetsu to start (inspired by Uncle Tetsu's Japanese cheesecake), along with the Cloudy Oolong (tea-based cocktail with a salted caramel cheese foam). The Strawberry Tetsu tasted like a dessert and was delicious, with a graham cracker crumble rim. The Cloudy Oolong had a strong tea taste which I loved, as sometimes the tea can get lost in a cocktail. The foam on top was addicting and paired nicely with it, similar to a bubble tea. Next, I had the Burnt Yuzu which was light and refreshing from the citrus. The bar is hidden behind Misfit Ice Cream, with a speakeasy vibe to the interior. We walked up to an unassuming entrance that is part of the experience, and once inside, the atmosphere shifts completely. The space is intimate and cozy with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a relaxed speakeasy vibe that makes it easy to settle in for a couple of drinks. The transition from the street to the interior feels deliberate, and the low-key energy of the room encourages lingering. The cocktail menu leans heavily into Asian-inspired flavors, and that is what makes it stand out. Every drink feels thoughtfully developed rather than relying on presentation alone. We tried the Cloudy Oolong, which was especially memorable with its rich tea flavor and creamy cheese foam that added a savory depth to the cocktail. The Strawberry Tetsu offered a dessert-like profile without becoming overly sweet, balancing fruit and tea notes in a way that felt refined and well composed. Each cocktail arrived beautifully presented and balanced, making it easy to appreciate the amount of care that goes into every glass. The menu is creative without being gimmicky, and the flavors are well integrated, with each drink offering something distinct. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain the menu or offer recommendations if you are unsure what to order. They guided us through the flavor profiles and offered thoughtful suggestions based on our preferences. Service felt attentive without being overbearing, and the overall pace made it a great place to relax rather than rush through a drink. Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

Perched high above the bustle of downtown Toronto, LOUIX LOUIS makes a compelling first impression…read more The dining room is genuinely handsome -- a study in polished Art Deco glamour softened by sweeping city views that lend every table a sense of occasion. On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
