Love the location. Service was spot on. Food, not quite so much. Red enchilada sauce had very little liquid. It wasn't dry like the desert but I could pick it up with a fork. 2nd visit to Gloria's was two weeks ago, and it was another fetch and carry meal. My husband was hungry for a breakfast burrito. Now this was not his first breakfast burrito, he has eaten many over the years, but he said that this one was the best he has ever eaten, and it was a giant of a burrito. He had a little left over for the next day. I was not feeling like Mexican food for breakfast so I tried the egg muffin sandwich with hash browns. Delicious! Came on a Saturday for Menudo. It wasn't good. Needed more seasoning. It had very little hominy also. It was better with the old owners.

I wanted to try Uber eats never had delivery before so I ordered from Glorias the Menudo large with extra cilantro and onions. Delivery was quick price was a little high. I knew the Menudo was only $10.18 with delivery and service charge came to a little bit over $20 including tip. The Menudo it was great! I made two meals out of it. read more

The food is great! You're served fresh salsa and fresh chips when you sit down. Service is wonderful. The old school diner vibe is there. This restaurant has been here for a long time. The original owners have retired but the grandson has taken over. Same great food with some added new items. I highly recommend the Chile rellenos. Gloria's kitchen was sold to Israel Aguirre approximately 1 year ago. The kind and lovely previous owners retired. Everyone who has frequented Casa de Soria's on Thompson knows both Israel and his brother. They were both very well known servers and cocktail makers. Israel has recently opened Gloria's for dinner service with a hard liquor license. He was the margarita teacher and the best margarita maker at Casa. He took his talent with them and we had some great margaritas, at a much less price. The DON is alive and well. It's the El Jefe now. The food is Israel's mother's recipes... old Mexico. All his dishes are as authentic as possible. You can taste the care and attention in all the carefully developed flavors. I had the Birria Tacos and my wife had the Chili Relleno and both were excellent. He offers 3 kinds of salsas including guacamole when in season. Overall, an excellent affordable dining experience. The staff are all very intuitive in knowing what you like and offers menu selections accordingly. Nice touch. The decor is dated, but it's clean and comfortable. I just got out of labor. I Had my husband pick me up a caldo de pollo/Chicken soup. It's the chicken soup your mexican mom will make you. Zuchinni, carrot, chayote.... If you know, u know! Good food! Very nice people who work there. We sat at the counter and it was nice because we could talk to them - we got to know the owner and hear the history of the restaurant, talked to the chef whose a Chargers fan! Go BOLTS! We had a really nice dinner. They serve warm chips with green mild salsa. The chips were fresh and delicious, salsa had a nice flavor. The Hamburger came with thousand island dressing - love that! Breakfast was good, they have good skinless sausage. Tasty. Pancakes were pretty good. The food was the average corner cafe type food. The owner and staff really sweet. I'm not sure. I'm right on the fence about this place. Want to give 3 stars for the food, but the service & how busy it was this afternoon bumps it to 4 stars. When I walked in at lunch time, it was already mildly busy. Good sign! I found a place to sit and since this was my first time here I had no idea where to begin. I did like that the menu was succinct, there weren't pages and pages to flip through. Pretty short and sweet. I like! The young guy brought out chips and green salsa. I LOVE GREEN SALSA, and the chips looked yummy, but they were terribly stale. Boo! He was very nice though. I'd come back because of his service. My soda came out very quickly, as did my sandwich. My salad was pretty tasty, but the ranch was nothing to write home about. It was very watery and didn't have any flavor at all. HOWEVER, the tomatoes on my turkey sandwich were AMAZING! Those were definitely a big plus. Other than that, the sandwich was meh. I will come back again, to try their Mexican food for sure. Hopefully their chips will be better, and I'd imagine they will be. read more

They make excellent breakfast dishes, Mexican food, and the amazing home-made soups that are a meal by themselves, just like grandma or abuelita would make. My husband and I love their menudo on the weekends, however on the weekdays they make beef or chicken soups that have a lot of meat and vegetables inside. We also love the quesadillas that are filled with meat and come with guacamole and salad. They also have daily specials that are great. We have never left Gloria's hungry or disappointed. read more

The food is Great here !!! We had a ground beef enchilada, chile relleno both with rice and beans. Believe me when I say I'm very picky about rice. It was perfect !!! (No vegetables in it & very fluffy). There was a ton of meat in the enchilada and the chile relleno was mild and sauce was delicious. Service was friendly and fast. I would have given this place 5 stars if their burritos had more meat in their burritos. They are huge and the taste is great. I was disatisfied with my burritos the last time and they made it right and offered me a refund. I've been going here for years since I worked across the street at CMH. It is very tasty. It's unfortunate I live so far or I would frequent this place on the norm. I would only recommend that they don't add so much rice to the burritos they weigh a lot and are filling but personally I don't like too much rice. Good recipes, friendly staff, and a nice neighborhood restaurant with booths to pop down and grab some great local Mexican food. Breakfast burritos are great, and I really like the chili Verde. I wish they had a salsa bar, and some more inventive options for hot sauce as some of the other local places have, but their red and green are quite good. Doesn't look like much from the outside, and the inside is more of a classic diner than a typical Mexican restaurant, but again friendly staff and decent food help it to remain an option on Loma Vista in Midtown. read more
